General

  • Peaceful park next to the River Forth, two miles from Aberfoyle
  • In Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, a half-hour drive from Stirling
  • Well-kept pitches with direct access to Loch Ard Forest; dogs welcome

If you’re setting off for Stirlingshire with your eye on finding lots of alfresco activities, you should certainly consider Cobleland Caravan and Camping Site as a base. A couple of miles south of Aberfoyle, this peaceful park is in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, just on the edge of the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.

That setting means miles and miles of walking and cycling trails stretch out through the surrounding area, with fishing and golf close by too – and watersports, treetop trails, cliff jumping and the like for more intrepid guests.

And in fact you don't have to travel far to get started on soaking up the spectacular scenery – you can simply stick around on site, where oak trees tower over the pitches and there’s a backdrop of pretty forest views with the River Forth running along one side of the site. Just beyond the river are paths taking you straight out into Loch Ard Forest for a woodland wander or a dog walk if you’ve brought your pet with you.

The pitches at Cobleland are well tended and spacious, with access to all the essential amenities including a launderette, a washing-up area and chemical disposal as well as bathrooms with toilets, showers and disabled facilities. Aberfoyle (five minutes’ drive) has a small supermarket for supplies, plus several places to eat and drink.

The campsite was in a lovely location with beautiful places to walk all around. when we booked in it only took 5 min so you were not hanging about to see where your pitch was. The guy that booked us in was very pleasant and helpful. I really liked the layout of the pitches on the hill. The other campers were very helpful with anything you needed and spoke very highly of the cobleland campsite. We will definitely be returning for another long weekend

I have stayed at Cobleland Campsite in October for 10 days. My boys (3 and 5 years old) absolutely loved the woods surrounding the campsite, play park is good as well, amazing walk to Aberfoyle we have done few times - approx 40 min walk with 2 small kids. Good places to eat, a lot of walking paths nearby. Both my boys cycled as well and plenty of cycling routes here as well. I loved the quietness of the place, beautiful views, very nice people working on the site.
Important to me was clean toilet facilities and showers. I do think that showers could do with some refurbishment but always clean and tidy.
    I will definitely visit again.

Everything is pretty much in close proximity of our tent. Beautiful sites and walks in the forest/riverside. Staff were very accommodating, friendly and helpful. In fact, may have saved our lives for giving us weather warning since it's the time of the year of heavy rain that could cause floods. It is a weather dependant business, we had to cut our stay shorter due to bad weather. However, they were very nice to give us promptly a credit note for the next stay at their campsite :-)

    Disliked:

Network reception is very poor in the area therefore, be ready to be less "connected" to the cyber world :-)
