Now here’s a place that’s ripe for a bit of relaxation… Firbank Park is in gorgeous Royal Deeside, an area that's been synonymous with quiet rural holidays for generations. And for extra bonus points on the 'peaceful' front, the luxury shepherd's huts at this Aberdeenshire park are designed for adults only. Each hut sleeps two people and is set in half an acre of space surrounded by Douglas fir. They're self contained so each has its own kitchen and a bathroom with a toilet and a shower. Outside, spend your downtime on the decking area, where there’s a lovely private hot tub, a gas barbecue and a covered ‘sitooterie’ where you can dine outside and enjoy the views. This is a fabulous place for getting out to explore the splendid Scottish countryside – it’s just on the eastern edge of the Cairngorms National Park, with easy access to all sorts of walks, bike trails and munros to climb. The River Dee is a couple of minutes’ walk away for fishing, and there’s horse riding 10 minutes’ drive away at the Glen Tanar Estate. Alternatively, you could simply stick around on site and soak up the situation – Dinnet Wood, one of the oldest oak woods in Scotland, runs behind the site and you may well spot wildlife such as red squirrels, badgers, roe deer and buzzards passing by. Supplies for your barbecue or picnics can be picked up at the shops in the villages of Aboyne or Ballater, both of which are about 10 minutes’ drive away – and which also have restaurants, cafés and takeaways for those times when you’d rather someone else did the cooking.

Bramble shepherd's hut (hot tub)

Liked Outside decking area with hot tub, seating area and bbq is fantastic - lovely outdoor space in beautiful and peaceful surroundings.

Sheperd’s hut is very well equipped - in such a small space, we still found everything we needed in the kitchen area. The site owners also very kindly left tea/coffee/milk/biscuits etc which was a lovely thing to do. They were very friendly and helpful too!

The hut is really nicely decorated and was warm and comfortable at all times.

Disliked Nothing really!! This hut is perfect for a 2-3 night stay, i think for any longer it might’ve felt cramped and difficult to manage in such a small space.

Bramble shepherd's hut (hot tub)

Liked The shepherds hut was lovely and cosy and well thought out, with its own shower and toilet. The outside space with the tub and cosy place to sit and eat was perfect and we enjoyed two bbq’s in the evening. There were lovely complimentary goodies on arrival and loads of info for what to do locally. We stayed for mountain biking and it’s a perfect location between Aboyne and ballater. The site and hut were immaculate and hot tub perfect. Would definitely stay again!

Liked Absolutely gorgeous huts. We stayed in the bramble hut and I cannot fault anything about our trip. The local scenery is great and there is plenty of wildlife to watch. Very relaxing place to stay as a couple. We will be visiting again.

I just want to clarify that we do not have any Wifi as we are very rural here and there is no broadband in the area via BT landline. There is however a good 4G signal which is what we use on our phones.
