What customers say

This is a beautiful, peaceful, and exceptionally well-maintained site with spacious, private pitches. Visitors highlight the friendly and welcoming hosts, Justine and Archie, who offer helpful local advice. The facilities, including shepherd's huts with private amenities and a distinctive toilet block, are consistently praised for cleanliness and character. Its idyllic rural location offers lovely walks and wildlife spotting opportunities, making it perfect for couples and mountain bikers. While some guests desired additional shower and pot-wash facilities for longer stays, and noted the cost, the overwhelming sentiment is highly positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Bramble shepherd's hut (hot tub)

Liked The shepherds hut was lovely and cosy and well thought out, with its own shower and toilet. The outside space with the tub and cosy place to sit and eat was perfect and we enjoyed two bbq’s in the evening. There were lovely complimentary goodies on arrival and loads of info for what to do locally. We stayed for mountain biking and it’s a perfect location between Aboyne and ballater. The site and hut were immaculate and hot tub perfect. Would definitely stay again!

Liked Absolutely gorgeous huts. We stayed in the bramble hut and I cannot fault anything about our trip. The local scenery is great and there is plenty of wildlife to watch. Very relaxing place to stay as a couple. We will be visiting again.

From the manager: Many thanks for your review.
I just want to clarify that we do not have any Wifi as we are very rural here and there is no broadband in the area via BT landline. There is however a good 4G signal which is what we use on our phones.

Local attractions

Ballater (10 minutes’ drive) is a place where you’re bound to stop sooner or later – it's a handy place for a variety of shops, but it’s also worth leaving a bit of time to visit the Old Royal Station, climb Craigendarroch Hill and play a round at Ballater Golf Club. Balmoral Castle (20 minutes) was famously the favourite residence of Queen Elizabeth II, and you’ll be able to find out why when you pay a visit – either taking a guided tour of the house or strolling around the grounds depending on the season. Heading out into the Cairngorms National Park is a must too, whether you’re planning adventures like a climb of nearby Ben Macdui or more gentle strolls looking out for Highland cows. Either way, you can finish off your day of activity with a few sips of something from Royal Lochnagar Distillery (25 minutes).
