  • Family-friendly site in a rural spot three miles from Frome
  • A 15-minute drive from Longleat House and Longleat Safari Park
  • Firepits (first-come, first-served) and games room on site
Set on a Somerset break? It's a crafty move to grab a spot at The Den and Orchard, a family-friendly site on the edge of the Cranborne Chase National Landscape. It just so happens that there are plenty of walks nearby, as well as other days out in the local area, including fishing, mountain biking, visits to National Trust properties and the excellent Longleat Safari Park. Firepits are available on a first-come, first-served basis – either bring your own firewood or purchase it on site – for a laidback evening of cooking and flame gazing. The appointed chef can acquire essentials at the supermarkets in Frome, three miles away. If you'd rather let someone else do the honours, it's possible to order local food delivery from your phone or take a short five-minute drive to local food outlets. Facilities on site include a washing-up area and a wooden toilet block with gents’ and ladies’ toilets and showers. A games room (with darts, table football and table tennis) is on hand too, for damp evenings and general entertainment. Being just under half a mile from an A road, you may hear some road noise at rush hour or if the wind is blowing in the site's direction. Just outside of Frome, it's a bit noisier here than at a fully rural site, but it's very handy for getting around and also for ordering from takeaways in Frome or quickly picking up supplies in town.

Electric optional grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked Such a lovely small site. This was our first time out in our camper and we are so glad we picked here. Plenty of space on our pitch, 2 shower/ toilet blocks and a games room to pass some time. We will be back in the future

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked Friendly and helpful staff - facilities and small well maintained site that has a nice communal feel. Well located for many days out such as Longleat, Wookey Hole and towns like Bath,Wells and Glastonbury

Disliked Site is possibly more geared towards motorhomes than tents (not a bad thing depending on your perspective). Traffic noise from A361 can disturb the peace to a degree at night but not a problem to an average urban resident

Apple Blossom lodge

Liked Such a last minute find and such a lovely place to stay. Cabin had plenty of space, clean and tidy inside, a small play area for kids and child friendly. Also location was close to Longleat Safari park which was very convenient.

Electric optional grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked Everything - smaller campsite so not overcrowded with good sized and well maintained pitches, thoughtful putting a bench on the grass. Very clean toilet and shower facilities, hot aswell as cold water for washing up and microwave, fridge and kettle. Quiet at night.

Electric optional grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely little camp site. Showers were basic but fine and usually clean. Nice play equipment for children. The club house is really nice and is underrated on their website!

Disliked There wasn’t a play field for children, but that’s a really small thing.

Apple Blossom lodge

Liked Location was fab, everything seemed clean, the accommodation was cute and had great amenities

Disliked Being told by our camping neighbour in a shepherds hut next to us, quite rudely, to be quiet at 9:20pm on a Saturday night. We were not being loud and they knew we were just trying to put our children to bed

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked Well maintained site with clean kitchen area and clean toliet block. Reasonably flat pitches for camping. Also has wifi.

Disliked The traffic noise from the nearby A-road is very loud, 24/7. Even with ear plugs you could still hear the traffic throughout the night. Because of the constant noise we left a day early.
