  • Family-friendly site in a rural spot three miles from Frome
  • A 15-minute drive from Longleat House and Longleat Safari Park
  • Firepits and games room on site
Set on a Somerset break? It's a crafty move to grab a spot at The Den and Orchard, a family-friendly site on the edge of Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It just so happens that there are plenty of walks nearby, as well as other days out in the local area including fishing, mountain biking, visits to National Trust properties and the excellent Longleat Safari Park. Firepits are positioned on every pitch for a laidback evening of cooking and flame gazing. The appointed chef can acquire essentials at the supermarkets in Frome, three miles away. If you'd rather let someone else do the honours, it's possible to order local food delivery from your phone or take a short five-minute drive to local food outlets. Facilities on site include a washing-up area and a wooden toilet block with gents’ and ladies’ toilets and showers. A games room (with darts, table football and table tennis) is on hand too, for damp evenings and general entertainment. Being just under half a mile from an A road, you may hear some road noise at rush hour or if the wind is blowing in the site's direction. Just outside of Frome, it's a bit noisier here than at a fully rural site, but it's very handy for getting around and also for ordering from takeaways in Frome or quickly picking up supplies in town.

Electric optional grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked Good wifi

Disliked Very expensive and not good value for money. Charge extra for electric hookup and £5 per dog, but dogs are not allowed to be walked on site. Pitches are close together and very difficult to access. No views or privacy. Facilities are basic and the showers mouldy and dirty. Very disappointed as this is the most expensive site we’ve stayed at.

Fine for one night but wouldn't recommend for solo female travelers.

Electric optional grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked Very clean pitches and good facilities with washing up, toilet waste disposal and wifi. Good for a one night stop over near Frome.

Disliked No staff on site and didn't feel the safest for a solo traveler. Women's shower was grubby. Evening noise policy not kept to or managed.

Electric optional grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked This is a well kept site with clean facilities. There's play equipment for children and games room. Water is available at every pitch plus electricity plus a picnic bench. There's recycling at the rubbish station.

Disliked I would have preferred for there to have been more space between the pitches.
Surprised to be charged for our dogs, just 2 which are usually free on most sites

Electric optional grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked The location, the layout of the site, the quiet atmosphere, the security.

Disliked No sign of any staff throughout our entire stay, nor any contact via the given phone numbers. The WCs were spacious and close to hand, but had rough, unfinished wood surfaces which gave us at least two "splinter incidents". Also, there are no Accessible Toilets on the site, despite advertising as such. This made life very difficult for my partner who relies on handrails in the WC and shower.
