Seaview Farm: Camping field

General

  • Wild-style camping with stunning views over the Jurassic Coast
  • A 10-minute drive from Weymouth; 15 minutes to Isle of Portland
  • Footpath leading to the coast path; a short walk to pubs and amenities

Check out those views… True to its name, Seaview Farm is right on the Jurassic Coast, with stunning views out over Chesil Beach and the Fleet Lagoon.

You could quite possibly sit and stare at those views for many hours here (and if you choose to do that, you may be pleased to know that you’re welcome to spark up a barbecue for cooking and keeping warm while you watch the sunset over the sea).

Not content with sitting still? This is a cracking location for walkers in particular: footpaths lead off from the farm in all directions, including one that heads off down towards the South West Coast Path and beyond to the Isle of Portland. A supermarket, a clutch of takeaways and several pubs are within walking distance too.

You could, in fact, ditch the car for much of your stay at this Dorset site: there’s a bus stop a short walk away for jaunts around the area by public transport. If you are driving, however, you can get to Weymouth town centre and beach with a journey of less than 10 minutes, to Durdle Door or West Bay in about half an hour, or inland to the Cerne Abbas Giant in a similar amount of time.

This is a wild-style stay with pitches on a spacious and slightly sloping field accessed via a track. There are no showers or electrical connections here, but guests will have access to water and regularly serviced portaloos.

Please note

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Spacious pitches, well signposted and distanced so well between each other.
Very accessible water points, hand gel points and clean porta loo's, regularly replenished.

Friendly approachable, honest owner, happy to stop and chat or advise, easy to contact.

We were the first to try the solar shower bag and tent hook up. Bought to your pitch at an agreed time. It was literally a bag of warm water with a very small sprinkler with an on off function at the end of a long tube and a stall the sit on to allow access the the water flow (if you kinked the tube by raising it you wouldn't get water). It wasn't the Ritz but it was a lovely way to get fresh conveniently. 1 bag lasted for 3 small and a little left for a teen, kids as we switched off once wet, lathered, then rinsed. 2nd bag finished the teens and just about did 2 adults, minus the hair wash. Definitely order another for hair washing and if you bring wind breakers they'd be perfect to use if you'd like a little more privacy, oh and a chair to place your belongings on!

The view takes your breath away, although your literally only 5mins away from shops and amenities you feel very secluded and access for footpaths was easy and stunning .
    A really wonderful experience.

    Disliked:

Our given pitch in the field which was on am incline felt quite exposed to the elements, I'm sure we were just unlucky with the weather but the wind at times was awful, the ground of the field was quite loose and our pegs struggled to stay in the ground and out tent got battered as did the others pitched in our part of the field. Highly recommend bringing more hardcore pegs up the job. Nothing to do with the owner though just the con that comes with a stunning view right in front of the coast...in direct exposure to the incoming weather fronts.

Having to pay another pitch fee for our small pop up tent which easily fit into the 1 pitch.

Felt a bit awkward trying to use the shower tent with the owner waiting nearby. How ever I soon got over it and enjoyed the chit chat with them.

Towards the end of the day the surface of the ground around the water tap become very sodden, soo much that you'd need wellies to keep your feet dry. Would be brilliant if some straw or quick dry mat or similar was available to absorb the excess water? Maybe some simple signs to remind other users not the leave the tap running excessively?

Also town centre very close in case of necessity.

    Disliked:

    Well ordered and spaced out.
    Good views.
Coastal hiking path right next to the site.
    Quiet site.
Bar and food at a nearby site, so this one remains quiet.
Large Aldi a short drive if needed.

    Disliked:

Soil seemed loose, which made pegging the tent down difficult, but this may have been due to the recent rain.
