General

  • Working livestock farm within a five-minute drive of Dorchester
  • Fully-equipped field kitchen and family room with TV and jukebox
  • 4x4 driving experiences and Segway rides available to buy

Dewflock Farm is a working farm where families can have a safe and scenic setting from which to explore the Dorset countryside and the Jurassic Coast while having a base that offers a safe and interesting environment. Owner Verity is always on hand if guests have any queries or problems.

The site has been up so guests can have a bit of luxury among an outdoor lifestyle, where lambs roam about and where sheep and cattle live in neighbouring fields. As livestock farmers, Verity and her family produce their own beef, lamb and pork so you can order organic meat to be delivered to your accommodation.

A converted pig barn with wifi access, seating a TV and a jukebox was added as a family room in 2016. 4x4 driving experiences and Segway rides can also be offered at the farm for an additional fee.

As this is a working farm with livestock, unfortunately dogs can't be permitted on site.

Dewflock farm has such a wonderful set up. The tent was clean and the facilities were everything you needed. Verity does an amazing job and goes the extra mile to make sure your stay is comfortable. The children loved feeding the animals in the morning and Sam took the time to answer all of the children’s questions. He is a great asset to the farm. We will definitely be returning.

Perfect weekend away with the kids! 23/08/2018

Everything! The setting, the tent, the surroundings, the barbecue, the hostess Verity and the farmer. The kids loved playing with new friends and we were looking forward to come back every evening after driving around to see a bit of Dorset. The beds were so comfortable (more than our own bed!) and we all slept so good. We managed to get up on time one morning for the animal feed and we all loved that - not sure if adult Jenny enjoyed it slightly more than the kids. Despite some rain and wind the tent stood sturdy on the ground and we didn't even notice it during the night. Perfect from start to finish!

    Disliked:

We could have been given better weather but 1. It's UK and 2. We didn't go for a sun holiday... And of course the farm has nothing to do that ;)

If we were to visit again we would go for an unfurnished tent. 16/08/2018

The tent was nice and the kids loved toasting marshmallows. It was great fun cooking on a fire pit. I don’t think the extra money paid for the furnished tent was worth the extra money paid.

    Disliked:

The duvets provided for the children were too thin and my children were cold. Lucky we had brought a couple of fleecy blankets with us. The animal feeding which my children were very much looking forward too was not at the set time of 8am as communicated so we missed out on both days of our stay.

Lovely camp site in the fields of a charming farm 13/08/2018

Lovely camp site in the fields of a charming farm which we had access to and children were able to feed the animals every morning– bring your wellies. The premium bell tent was clean, spacious and well equipped with air mattresses and bedding; the weather wasn't as kind to us and was really windy and rainy one night but the tent was super sturdy and there wasn't any wind/rain coming through. The facilities were basic but nice and clean i.e., shared toilets, showers and kitchenette (coffee/tea, kettle, microwave, fridge, running hot water, cutlery, plates). We were given the first fire camp kit which included wood and marshmallows, a big hit with the kids! Also as mentioned before, bacon rolls freshly made for breakfast are included. Plenty to do around at a short driving distance. We all had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to come back / recommend to stay here.

We have just returned from a fabulous weekend 'glamping' at Dewflock. We stayed in the premium bell tents and it was just fab - had everything we needed and Verity was on hand before and during our trip to answer any queries we had.
Bacon rolls each morning were a lovely touch as was feeding the animals for our 4 year old son. We were very lucky with the weather too and had a great couple of days exploring Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove & Weymouth. Highly recommend it and we will definitely be returning.

Directions

From the Dorchester bypass, take the Weymouth exit and after 400 meters take the left turning, signposted Winterborne Herringston. You will find Dewflock just after the bridge on the right. Drive over the watermeadows (avoiding any sleeping bulls on the track) and come to the farmhouse to meet the owners.

Buses stop a 10-minute walk from the camping fields, and two train stations are a 5-minute drive from the site. Owners can pick you up from the station, please use the 'special requests' box on your booking form to inform them if you need one.

Local attractions

Dorchester a five-minute drive away has plenty of places to eat out, drink, and visit museums, cinemas and public gardens where events are put on throughout the summer months. New development Brewery Square has a wide range of eateries to pick from.

Weymouth is seven miles away accessible via the bypass, to offer a quick route to a scenic beach and typical seaside town. Again, a large number of restaurants and pubs are in town.

The farm is surrounded by the Jurassic Coast: go fossil hunting down the road at Charmouth or at Kimmeridge Bay.

For some physical activity, visit the various horse riding centres of the region, or go to the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy at Portland, where there are plenty of courses available for all abilities. Verity and team know the area well and will happily suggest other activities and attractions based on your interests.
