General

  • Working livestock farm within a five-minute drive of Dorchester
  • Fully-equipped field kitchen and family room with TV and jukebox
  • 4x4 driving experiences and Segway rides available to buy

Dewflock Farm is a working farm where families can have a safe and scenic setting from which to explore the Dorset countryside and the Jurassic Coast while having a base that offers a safe and interesting environment. Owner Verity is always on hand if guests have any queries or problems.

The site has been up so guests can have a bit of luxury among an outdoor lifestyle, where lambs roam about and where sheep and cattle live in neighbouring fields. As livestock farmers, Verity and her family produce their own beef, lamb and pork so you can order organic meat to be delivered to your accommodation.

A converted pig barn with wifi access, seating a TV and a jukebox was added as a family room in 2016. 4x4 driving experiences and Segway rides can also be offered at the farm for an additional fee.

As this is a working farm with livestock, unfortunately dogs can't be permitted on site.

Fabulous glamping farm site with friendly staff and cute tepees! 29/08/2017

It's a great location with beautiful views of the countryside. We stayed in a teepee which was very cute - decorated with fairy lights, haybales and a cosy bed. The owner Verity was lovely, she welcomed us on arrival and showed us around. The extra touches such as the bacon rolls in the mornings and the marshmallows waiting for us in our tent were a nice touch. It is a working farm so lots of animals around which we loved. We had a fab bank holiday weekend here. Close to Lulworth cove, Weymouth, Dorchester & Durdle door so plenty of options for a day out. Thumbs up!

    Disliked:

The only downside is the train that runs past the campsite from the early hours of the morning and all through the day.

Verity is amazing. She remembered my son's name without hesitation and always stopped to ask how he was and whether he was enjoying his stay.

Every morning at 8am the kids all got to feed the animals on the farm with Sam, which is a lovely little touch and something that Gregory very much enjoyed. After this we then collected bacon sandwiches and took them back to our shepherd's hut to enjoy.

It is literally 20 minutes away from everything - an absolutely amazing location if visiting Durdle Door, Weymouth, Monkey World and the tank museum.

Finally, it was all the personal touches that made it. Verity found out it was my partner's birthday the day we were leaving so when we went to go and pick up our breakfast she had a little present for him and wrote "happy birthday Gaz" on our brown bags. It was something that really touched us.

All in all, we had an amazing stay that everyone enjoyed and it was really made by Verity and Sam. I will recommend this to anyone that will listen until I am blue in the face! loved it!!!

The bell tent was spacious, and the bed comfy. The tents in the field are well spaced out, and came with a fire pit and hay bails to sit on. The kitchen area was handy and the bacon sarnies each morning welcome!
My child wasn't old enough, but it was lovely to see the children from other families feeding the animals each morning, what a great place to bring a young family.
The tents and facilities at Dewflock made this trip easy - all the good sides of a camping trip, and none of the bad ones!

Verity the owner was so helpful, having young children herself she has managed to cater for families exceptionally well. There is a camping kitchen with 3 large fridges and freezers electric point and kettles toasters and an electric hob!! We felt totally welcome and Tom and Verity had opened their farm to us all, no areas out of bounds. My little one is an early riser and as not to disturb the whole campsite there is a large converted pig shed with plenty of toys a TV and tables and chairs and a warm haven I could use until the campsite was awake. the farm shop meat also totally amazing the spicy lamb sausages are amazing!! This is a working farm not a permanent campsite so no posh showers but what they do have are clean and hot and the toilets are fully stocked and clean. We even had a live band playing sat evening which was very sociable. Can't wait to visit again.

    Disliked:

NOTHING ( there is a train line nearby but no risk to children as so high up on a huge bank.)

A great campsite, not too big and great facilities!
The kids loved feeding the animals and being able to wonder round the farm to visit the animals was great.
The cafe room was brilliant, great bacon sandwiches and being able to buy the BBQ meat on site was a bonus!!
The owners were lovely very approachable and couldn't do enough for you.
Loved the music on the saturday night,

    Disliked:

Did not dislike anything, but very limited phone signal (but this was a blessing in disguise really)
Maybe a bin for recycling as there was lots of recycling going into normal bins.

We stayed in Rufus shepards hut was fantastic, rustic, nicely decorated with comfy beds made up with beautiful and lovely smell fresh cotton bedding. The farm have variety of animals, children loves its. But situated next to South West train line, quite a noise to noticed when pass by. We not really mind though.
Fresh coffee, tea bags, milk and basic cooking utensils were provided in the barn kitchen. Breakfast egg and bacon rolls were delivered to our door by our hosts on quad bikes which we are looking forward for every mornings. Location, location, location : 5mins drive to Dorchester town centre, approx. 30mins drive to Weymouth, Portland Bill and Durdle Door. We had a lovely stay!

    Disliked:

Based on our experiences stayed during school plus bank holidays, whereby all 14 tents and 2 huts were fully occupied:-
    1) Running out of handwash and toilet roll every morning.
    2) only 3 toilets to served 16 families, so a lot of waiting and queues. Not very good when desperately needed. Proper campsites shower block would be nice.
    3) fridge in a barn kitchen is always full and we never have a chance to put our stuffs in.
*On our last night of our stayed, only 3 families left were perfect, no trouble with toilet or kitchen

From the Dorchester bypass, take the Weymouth exit and after 400 meters take the left turning, signposted Winterborne Herringston. You will find Dewflock just after the bridge on the right. Drive over the watermeadows (avoiding any sleeping bulls on the track) and come to the farmhouse to meet the owners.

Buses stop a 10-minute walk from the camping fields, and two train stations are a 5-minute drive from the site. Owners can pick you up from the station, please use the 'special requests' box on your booking form to inform them if you need one.

Local attractions

Dorchester a five-minute drive away has plenty of places to eat out, drink, and visit museums, cinemas and public gardens where events are put on throughout the summer months. New development Brewery Square has a wide range of eateries to pick from.

Weymouth is seven miles away accessible via the bypass, to offer a quick route to a scenic beach and typical seaside town. Again, a large number of restaurants and pubs are in town.

The farm is surrounded by the Jurassic Coast: go fossil hunting down the road at Charmouth or at Kimmeridge Bay.

For some physical activity, visit the various horse riding centres of the region, or go to the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy at Portland, where there are plenty of courses available for all abilities. Verity and team know the area well and will happily suggest other activities and attractions based on your interests.
