- Bus stops and bike routes a short walk away and shops in Dorchester
Looking for your fix of outdoor life with both a peaceful vibe and a good stack of facilities? Dewflock Farm is a working farm where families can have a safe, scenic setting from which to explore the Dorset countryside or zip down to the Jurassic Coast – or just stick around to watch the farm animals going about their business.
This is a great base for visitors wanting to explore Dorset, as bus stops and bike routes are within a 10-minute walk. The shops, restaurants, bars, cinemas and museums of county town Dorchester are a five-minute drive away, and the splendid sands of Weymouth can be reached in about 15 minutes. Some other lovely beaches, such as Ringstead and Lulworth, are also within easy reach and worth exploring – the site team will happily point you in the right direction.
The nearest supermarket is a two-minute drive away, but there's food even closer to hand too – the owners produce their own meat, which you can order to be delivered to your accommodation for a particularly fine dinner cooked up on your barbecue or in the field kitchen, where there's a communal eating area, fridges, freezers and crockery, cutlery and utensils. No need to make such efforts in the morning though – the site café is open for breakfast. Pizzas are also freshly made to order on selected evenings.
As this is a working farm with livestock, unfortunately dogs can't be permitted on site.

From the Dorchester bypass, take the Weymouth exit and after 400 metres take the left turning, signposted Winterborne Herringston. You'll find Dewflock just after the bridge on the right. Drive over the watermeadows (avoiding any sleeping bulls on the track) and head to the farmhouse to meet the owners.
Buses stop a 10-minute walk from the site, and two train stations are a five-minute drive away. Owners can pick you up from the station, please use the 'special requests' box on your booking form to inform them if you need a lift.
Local attractions
The farm is well-placed for trips the Jurassic Coast – you can’t really visit this part of the world without a bit of beach time, and there are some fab ones around including top fossil-hunting spots at Charmouth (40 minutes' drive) and Kimmeridge Bay (45 minutes).
For some physical activity, saddle up at the region's various horse-riding centres, or go to the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy at Portland (25 minutes), where there are plenty of courses available for all abilities.
