Dewflock Farm: Aerial view of Dewflock Bells

General

  • Small family-run site on a farm five minutes' drive from Dorchester
  • A 15-minute drive to Weymouth and 20 minutes to Monkey World
  • Bus stops and bike routes a short walk away and shops in Dorchester

Looking for your fix of outdoor life with both a peaceful vibe and a good stack of facilities? Dewflock Farm is a working farm where families can have a safe, scenic setting from which to explore the Dorset countryside or zip down to the Jurassic Coast – or just stick around to watch the farm animals going about their business.

This is a great base for visitors wanting to explore Dorset, as bus stops and bike routes are within a 10-minute walk. The shops, restaurants, bars, cinemas and museums of county town Dorchester are a five-minute drive away, and the splendid sands of Weymouth can be reached in about 15 minutes. Some other lovely beaches, such as Ringstead and Lulworth, are also within easy reach and worth exploring – the site team will happily point you in the right direction.

The nearest supermarket is a two-minute drive away, but there's food even closer to hand too – the owners produce their own meat, which you can order to be delivered to your accommodation for a particularly fine dinner cooked up on your barbecue or in the field kitchen, where there's a communal eating area, fridges, freezers and crockery, cutlery and utensils. No need to make such efforts in the morning though – the site café is open for breakfast. Pizzas are also freshly made to order on selected evenings.

As this is a working farm with livestock, unfortunately dogs can't be permitted on site.

Please note

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

Pizzas are available to order on site on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Wonderful site. Spacious, beautiful views, great facilities and amazing for children. So much fun with lambs to stroke, goats to feed, Maize Maze, mini Landrovers to drive, hay bales to play on. Easy for parents with hot showers, good kitchen facilities, pizza nights, breakfast and fresh coffee. Amazing, we will be back! Thank you!

Everything! What a beautiful place to stay.
We booked the Shepards Hut which is rucked away from the main camp up a small small hill. Its perfect if you fancy being off grid but with the reassurance that people arent too far away. Very well equipt which made our stay cosy and comfortable. Lovely views of sunset in evening. Private hot shower. With a Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door being 30min drive away.

Verity and Tom are absolutely lovely. They were so welcoming and made our visit really easy. The site is clean and designed with guests experience in mind. They serve delicious coffee's and breakfast rolls in the cafe barn. There is a communal kitchen area with ample fridge/freezer space and charging points for your devices.

I can not reccomend this place enough. Will definitely be going back.

    Disliked:

The whole area is a bit of a mobile network deadzone. But actually that can be seen as a plus if you want to get away totally from everything.

Friendly owners convenient location to Weymouth and Dorchester. Small site which made it more personal and helped our autistic son make friends. Clean tent. Camp kitchen a wonderful extra ( but needs to have a shelf in the fridge allocated to each tent as some families did take over which made it difficult for others to have some space!)

    Disliked:

Single shower(electric) in toilet block went cold if someone using toilet nextdoor, but gas powered shower in the small huts next door excellent hot and some pressure so would recommend these.

We received a lovely warm welcome at the farm. The bell tents are great and were more than big enough for our family of 5. It’s a lovely safe site where the children can safely roam but you can nearly always see them. My children loved visiting the animals and just running free. They also liked the Mini land rovers and we enjoyed the pizza nights. Kitchen facilities are good with everything you need and space to store your fridge food. Clean toilets and warm showers were great. Wifi available in the barn (our teens appreciated this) and you can charge phones in the kitchen area. The hosts are lovely friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

Great location to nearby Weymouth literally 10-15 min drive to the town.

The trains are close by but, infrequent. Just bring some earplugs for the night.

Peaceful, clean and friendly. Bell tents can fit 3 double beds still have space to walk around the tent, short drive to everything, 2 minutes Tesco, KFC, 7 minutes to maiden castle and sunflower farm, tents well spaced out, kitchen with 3 big fridge freezer, electric sockets and other things you need. With big land with farm animals , my kids are free to run and play safely. Enjoyed our stay. Thanks

Great location. Very close to Dorchester and Weymouth. The bell tents were brilliant and all the staff on site were extremely friendly. The toilets, wash rooms and shower facilities vary from a modern style to a rustic, rough and ready outdoor country style. Loved it. Great for children too because they have lots of farm animals and plenty of land for the kids to run wild and free.

Local attractions

The farm is well-placed for trips the Jurassic Coast – you can’t really visit this part of the world without a bit of beach time, and there are some fab ones around including top fossil-hunting spots at Charmouth (40 minutes' drive) and Kimmeridge Bay (45 minutes).

For some physical activity, saddle up at the region's various horse-riding centres, or go to the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy at Portland (25 minutes), where there are plenty of courses available for all abilities.

Need day trips to please both tiddlers and grownups? The Dinosaur Museum (10 minutes), SeaLife Centre Weymouth (15 minutes), Monkey World (20 minutes) and Tank Museum (25 minutes) should all fit the bill.
