There’s nothing fossilised about a stay at Newlands Holiday Park, a stone’s throw away from the Jurassic Coast on the Devon/Dorset border, where the staff and facilities should cater to your every holiday need. For example, this lush place has two separate play areas for the kids. For an additional fee, you're also welcome to use the heated indoor and seasonally heated outdoor pool with a splash zone and a spa, sauna and gym too (age limits apply to these last three). Both pools have loungers so you can bask in the sun and wonder where the kids get all that energy. More? There's an indoor soft play area. Also use family-run Newlands as a base for a Lyme Regis fossil-hunting holiday or just lounge about on site; either way, epic times are on the cards. The 23-acre landscaped park has all the facilities you’d expect from a thoroughly modern site: internet access and clean, up-to-date amenities including hot showers and a launderette. Half a mile from Newlands, the World Heritage village of Charmouth has shops, restaurants and pubs… and is also known for its hardy souls taking to the sea in fancy dress on Christmas Day.

Liked Really helpful and friendly staff. Site is clean and well maintained, with good access to shop, restaurant, arcade and leisure centre (additional cost, but minimal and lovely facilities!).

Disliked Pitch was a bit more sloped than we would have liked, but nice and spacious all the same. A little noise from the road, but nothing that really bothered us.

Liked Pitch was ok and facilities tired but clean.

Disliked The evening was disturbed by a group of inconsiderate people a couple of rows back from us, shouting, swearing, talking loudly and dogs barking. This started around 8pm and went on until after midnight.

Sorry not one we will be using again.

Clean and friendly staff good facilities ie toilet block and clubhouse.and busstop outside the site and a big plus fantastic 5g wifi everywhere!

Disliked Terrible car park layout on arrival no easy place to park a caravan and towcar without reversing camping field entrance a gap in the hedge with sign report to reception first which is located in the far corner you just drove past! almost impossible to see so better signage needed especially when a delivery lorry or motohome parked in front of igap where reception is, hard standing pitches located on level teirs on the hill so hope your reversing skills up together as it's a fair drop of the edge! And in the quiet of the night road noise is very noticeable.

Liked Absolutely lovely campsite. Adults and kids enjoyed it. Huge park for the kids to play in, we had some peace and quiet. Lovely swimming pool with sauna and jacuzzi. Bus service right outside the entrace to lyme regis or the opposite way to weymouth. Perfect location. Staff are so sweet and approachable. Had many conversations and our questions were always answered well. Thank you for a lovely stay. We will be back again.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Very clean, particularly the toilets, well laid out so everyone had a viewing, everyone was friendly. Pool was beautiful, spent a lot of time in there.
Everything of a high standard.

Disliked Bit of a pain having to remember to take a card to pay for the pool, would rather had the cost all in with the pitch fee.

Liked Facilities and cleanliness of the majority of the site. Pitches were well kept and the site was neat and tidy.
Shop stocked a good choice at decent prices, which is refreshing for a site shop.
Check in was quick and seamless and very friendly.

Great areas to sit inside and outside with the dog, not all sites accommodate pets inside, so a good move.

Lovely walk into the nearest small village to the beach was easy and welcomed to stretch the legs.

Disliked Shower rooms need updating as look tired - also attention needed on the cobwebs and dust in these areas.

Different pricing in the bar for the same drinks was not good either.

The dual carriageway was noisy early morning, but I am not sure what the owners can do about this as it is a busy road.

Liked Grass pitch with really good view. Bar, food and swimming pool all excellent. Tribute real ale on tap much appreciated. Singer on Saturday night was excellent.

Disliked Pitch was a bit messy and muddy on arrival. Tap didn't work properly at chermical cleaning point. Point was dirty in any case. Shower and toilet block in need of a revamp....which I note has been applied for.

Liked It was very clean well run near to Charmouth beach the people running it were helpful and friendly it is very close to the A35 but the road whitened down at night time the bus stopped outside the gate to Lyme Regis would stop again

The beach is a 15-minute walk from Newlands: stroll from here to Lyme Regis keeping your head down for more fossily finds, then wander around Lyme to take a look at Cobb Harbour (made famous in Jane Austen’s Persuasion); buy freshly ground flour at the 14th-century watermill; amble along to at the ammonites, exhibitions and events at the museum, or tee off on the cliff at Lyme Regis Golf Club. Mini fossil-hunters will likely be monster fans of the award-winning Dinosaur Museum at Dorchester, and taking a detour while in town to the Teddy Bear Museum. If they’re watery types, they’ll have a whale of a time at the Splashdown Water Park in Poole and the walk-through underwater tunnel at the Bournemouth Oceanarium. Closer to Newlands and Dino Dan, families can trundle along on the Seaton Tramway for a scenic trip through the estuary of the River Axe, or feed a shoal of fish at Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium.
