  • Family-friendly park just outside Charmouth on the Jurassic Coast
  • Pools, play areas and indoor play
  • Modern amenities including hot showers and a launderette
There’s nothing fossilised about a stay at Newlands Holiday Park, a stone’s throw away from the Jurassic Coast on the Devon/Dorset border, where the staff and facilities should cater to your every holiday need. For example, this lush place has two separate play areas for the mini guests. There's also an indoor heated pool – and an outdoor one with loungers so you can bask in the sun and wonder where the kids get all that energy… More? There's an indoor soft play area. Also use family-run Newlands as a base for a Lyme Regis fossil-hunting holiday or just lounge about on site; either way, epic times are on the cards. The 23-acre landscaped park has all the facilities you’d expect from a thoroughly modern site: internet access and clean up-to-date amenities including hot showers and a launderette. Half a mile from Newlands, the World Heritage village of Charmouth has shops, restaurants and pubs… and is also known for its hardy souls taking to the sea in fancy dress on Christmas Day.

Liked Indoor and outdoor pools with little splash play area
Incredible play ground which kept child entertained for hours
Well stocked shop
Loads of showers and loos
Super helpful and friendly staff
Free soft play open until 9pm

Disliked It’s a busy site with a lot of children up late. Next to a road so not exactly a rural idyllic despite excellent location. For me and my 5 year old it was perfect but if that’s not your jam still clear!

From the manager: Hi Caroline,
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review! We're delighted to hear that you and your little one enjoyed the indoor and outdoor pools, splash play area, playground, soft play, and our on-site facilities. It's also wonderful to know our team made a positive impression. We also appreciate your honest feedback. As a popular family holiday park, especially during peak times, there can be plenty of children enjoying the facilities into the evening, which creates a lively atmosphere. We understand that this may not suit everyone, but we're pleased it was the perfect fit for you and your 5-year-old.
We hope to welcome you back for another fun-filled family stay soon!

Camping pod

Liked We really enjoyed our stay at Newlands. There was lots to do to keep our kid entertained, in particular the playground was top notch. The pools were great, decent temp and really clean. The restaurant food was excellent. Staff were all nice and friendly. The pod was a decent size, beds were comfy. We like the location, Charmouth is lovely, the beach is a great day out and Lyme Regis is a short drive/bus ride and well worth a visit. We would definitely go back again.

Disliked The blinds let in too much light in the morning for me so we needed to block out the light with bin bags and blankets.

From the manager: Hello,
Thank you for your fantastic review! We're so pleased to hear you and your family had such an enjoyable stay. It's great to know your child loved the playground, you enjoyed the pools, restaurant, and our friendly team, and that you found the pod comfortable. We're also delighted you had the chance to explore Charmouth and Lyme Regis and that you're planning to return.
Thank you as well for your feedback about the blinds. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and understand how important a darker room can be for a good night's sleep. We'll certainly take your comments into consideration as we look at ways to improve our accommodation.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Newlands for another great family break!

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely stay at Newlands last week. Shower and toilet block very clean and well maintained. Pitches are quite small and close to each other but this wasnt a problem for us and what we wanted.
We loved Dorset and would definitely use this park again.

Thank you 😊

Liked Clean facilities. Nice bar eating area. Enjoyed quiz night.

Disliked Obnoxious groundsman for berating us for having a drive away awning because it was bit attached to our motorhome. He called it a Gazebo.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Loved the pool and the pool supervisor was so helpful and lovely. She really made a difference to the experience as holiday park pools can often be over filled and stressful but she managed it so well, understanding it was a fun part of the holiday and not just being grumpy as it was so busy.
The restaurant was also brilliant. Again food is not always great in holiday parks but Newlands is the exception. The food was lovely and the staff were efficient and so helpful. It felt like everyone enjoyed working there and really wanted to make your holiday special.

Disliked Maybe fix some of the arcade machines it that is really picky and overall everything was great.

Local attractions

Charmouth is the gateway to the Jurassic Coast and has some of the best fossils to be found in Dorset: the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre has fossil collections and guided fossil walks and is where you can proudly bring in your very own fossil find to be identified. The beach is a 15-minute walk from Newlands: stroll from here to Lyme Regis keeping your head down for more fossily finds, then wander around Lyme to take a look at Cobb Harbour (made famous in Jane Austen’s Persuasion); buy freshly ground flour at the 14th-century watermill; amble along to at the ammonites, exhibitions and events at the museum, or tee off on the cliff at Lyme Regis Golf Club. Mini fossil-hunters will likely be monster fans of the award-winning Dinosaur Museum at Dorchester, and taking a detour while in town to the Teddy Bear Museum. If they’re watery types, they’ll have a whale of a time at the Splashdown Water Park in Poole and the walk-through underwater tunnel at the Bournemouth Oceanarium. Closer to Newlands and Dino Dan, families can trundle along on the Seaton Tramway for a scenic trip through the estuary of the River Axe, or feed a shoal of fish at Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium.
