  • Friendly site 20 minutes' drive from the centre of Bournemouth
  • Sociable atmosphere that respects guests' peace and quiet
  • Dogs welcome; water-based activities nearby in Bournemouth
If your destination is Dorset-based, farm yourself out to the friendly folk at St Leonards Farm Caravan & Camping Park. Just a 20-minute drive from the centre of Bournemouth, half an hour from Poole and 15 minutes from the New Forest National Park, it should make an excellent base to get out and explore from. This is a place that has sparkling clean loos, toasty hot water for showers and washing up, and well-marked-out pitches – clearly the owners know what guests want. Canine campers are also welcome too. If you want to sizzle your own sausages, saving one for the dog, you can exchange gas cylinders on site. There are two major supermarkets within five minutes’ drive, two pubs within a mile and a number of nearby restaurants if you’re feeling lazy/thirsty. St Leonards Farm Caravan & Camping Park is a sociable but quiet site and has a 'no noise after 11pm' policy – most welcome if you’re getting up at the crack of dawn for some seaside exploring. The security gates are locked at night for safety and security; there's overnight parking outside of the security gates if you need it, so check at reception to find out the exact times the gates are opened and closed.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely campsite, friendly receptionist. Some reviews mentioned traffic noise from nearby road, but it kind of gets ignored and one gets used to it, it’s not as bad as I thought it would be. Facilities well maintained.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Location was good, most pitches were the same distance from the toilet/shower block. The campsite was very accommodating for the children with a great play park, football pitch & indoor play barn. Short walk to Lidl with was handy when staying longer than a couple of nights. We loved the food vendors on site stone baked pizzas were great on Saturday night and the kids loved the visit from the ice cream van too.

Disliked Washing facilities could have been a little cleaner and showers were temperamental 2 days of cold water showers and only one day we were there was their hot water for showers but it didn’t spoil our stay.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We apologise for the hot water issue as we were having severe issues waiting for a new controller for the water heater to turn up and were dealing with an intermittent fault that meant we had to keep resetting the heater. We are hoping the part will arrive in the next couple of days.

Lovely campsite. Plenty of space. Lots for kids to do. Shops, McDonald's…

Electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely campsite. Plenty of space. Lots for kids to do. Shops, McDonald's and pub all within 5 mins walk.

Disliked Could do with more than 5 showers in the block during busy season and maybe a warden doing checks at night for fires!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your kind review. We do have more than 5 showers as there are 2 shower blocks on site.

Liked None

Disliked Toilets where not cleaned properly.
No soap. No hot water for 2 days.
Tin toilets should be removed as a health hazard. Pitches not marked out.
Play barn was not open.
Lots of people were not happy.
Worst site we have ever been to.
Wish I had read the reviews before I booked.

From the manager: Whilst we are happy to have constructive and reasonable feedback to respond to, this is just defamatory inaccurate nonsense and simply revenge reviewing for the sake of being spiteful. Most of our customers are happy with the park and their reviews attest to the inaccuracy of your unfounded comments. Laughable.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Lovely clean large site with friendly helpful staff
Barrier gates in and out do you feel safe
Dog walking area
Large kiddies play area (although we didn’t need it)

Disliked Our pitch was on small size
No 8-24 we’re gravel for caravan grass for awning but cars had to go across front of van which made it narrow with opposite guess parked a little over the road/grass so moving off site was tight

Local attractions

St Leonards Farm is one of the closest sites to Bournemouth, with sandy beaches only seven miles away. There’s loads to do nearby if you’re feeling full of beans – try watersports such as windsurfing, sailing or surfing at Bournemouth’s artificial reef, or get busy with some go-karting, dry slope skiing, golf, fishing or horse-riding in the scenic surrounding countryside. Feeling a bit tired after all that sporty exertion? Take a picnic to nearby Moors Valley Country Park, which has a golf course, cycling routes and outdoor play area, or have a family day out at a plethora of local attractions including Paultons Park, Marwell Zoo, Beaulieu Motor Museum and Wimborne Minster Model Town. Kids will likely enjoy fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast, and if they’re disappointed by not finding a T-rex skeleton right there and then, you can take them along to the Dinosaur Museum at Dorchester, then spoil them with a day out at Adventure Wonderland less than three miles from the park. The site is also an ideal stopover point for the Poole or Portsmouth cross-channel ferries.
