  • One of the closest sites to Bournemouth
  • Sociable atmosphere that respects guests' peace and quiet
  • Lots of water-based activities to do nearby
If your destination is Dorset-based, farm yourself out to the friendly folk at St Leonards Farm Caravan & Camping Park, which is a splendid base for exploring Bournemouth, Poole and the New Forest. This is a place that has sparkling clean loos, toasty hot water for showers and washing up, and well marked-out pitches – clearly these farm folk know what campers want. And canine campers are welcome too. If you want to sizzle your own sausages, you can exchange gas cylinders on site and there are two major supermarkets within five minutes’ drive, or two pubs within a mile and a number of nearby restaurants if you’re feeling lazy/thirsty. St Leonards Farm is a sociable but quiet site and has a 'no noise after 11pm' policy – most welcome if you’re getting up at the crack of dawn for some seaside exploring.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The site had level pitches, was well maintained and quiet despite the nearby busy road.
During our first few days, the shower pressure was so poor that we used onboard facilities. This was remedied though and we enjoyed lots of hot water from high pressured showers, in the very nice individual shower rooms with sinks, WCs, hand driers and even shaver points. These were kept remarkably clean at whatever time of day we used them as was the wash up area.
It was easy to walk over to Lidl when we needed anything
The ANPR made it easy to access and leave the site whilst providing good security.

Disliked: In some areas, the pitches were fairly close together
The 10amp electrical supply took a little getting used to. We had to remember not to run more than one domestic appliance at a time.
Wi fi was not available on the pitches

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: From the moment we arrived, everything was clean, well-organised and cared for. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. The campsite was offering a good mix of privacy and community. What really stood out was how family-friendly the park is. There was a great playground for kids and indoor softplay. In the evenings, the park was quiet and peaceful—ideal for relaxing.
Food and ice cream van was a great surprise! After a long day of hiking and exploring, it was such a treat to grab a delicious hot meal without needing to cook.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Booking was easy and the site was nice, clean and quiet staff were nice

Disliked: The worst thing about this site is the showers, they don't exist in the block near reception the block is clean and has individual cubicles with a sink, toilet and a press button on the wall that dribbles water for a few seconds not a shower a great shame as we enjoyed the site and the staff are aware of it , it is being replaced next season

Local attractions

St Leonards Farm is one of the closest sites to Bournemouth, with sandy beaches only seven miles away. There’s loads to do nearby if you’re feeling full of beans – try watersports such as windsurfing, sailing or surfing at Bournemouth’s artificial reef, or get busy with some go-karting, dry slope skiing, golf, fishing or horse-riding in the scenic surrounding countryside. Feeling a bit tired after all that sporty exertion? Take a picnic to nearby Moors Valley Country Park, which has a golf course, cycling routes and outdoor play area, or have a family day out at a plethora of local attractions including Paultons Park, Marwell Zoo, Beaulieu Motor Museum and Wimborne Minster Model Town. Kids will likely enjoy fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast, and if they’re disappointed by not finding a T-rex skeleton right there and then, you can take them along to the Dinosaur Museum at Dorchester, then spoil them with a day out at Adventure Wonderland less than three miles from the park. The site is also an ideal stopover point for the Poole or Portsmouth cross-channel ferries.
