  • Family-friendly and family-run site with walks down to Lee Bay
  • Set on 27 peaceful acres a couple of miles from Woolacombe
  • Farm shop and e-bike/bike hire: trails straight from the farm
Traditional Devon farm stays are the name of the game at family-owned and -run Lee Meadow Farm a couple of miles from the sands and surf of Woolacombe, set among 27 acres with woodland views on one side and Devon hills on the other, and with views of the Bristol Channel towards Wales. There is a licensed farm shop here too, selling local free-range eggs and lots of fresh local produce. Just a few of the things on offer are hot breakfasts in a box, lunches, homemade cream teas, chocolate brownies and local ciders and ales, wine and beer. With a walk through the woods, guests can also reach a splendid pub in Lee which serves food. Easy walks and bike rides are simple to access straight from the farm, and the safe cycling of the former Ilfracombe branch line is just at the end of the farm lane. There's plenty of space on site for kids to run about too. Facilities are well kept and include free hot showers, flushing toilets and washing-up sinks; a disabled shower and toilet facilities plus a baby changing area and a token-operated hairdryer. E-bike and cycle hire is available on site. And finally, the two pubs within walking distance selling fine ales, cider and food are faves with the locals – always a good sign for pubs…

Electric grass pitch

Liked: First of all, the owner was incredibly friendly. The location is quiet with a beautiful sea view, making it the perfect romantic spot to watch the sunset. The site also has a shop and kitchen where you can order breakfast and coffee. The showers and toilets were clean, and a lovely beach is just a few minutes away. Overall, we absolutely loved this place!

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: The location is stunning and very good for the local beaches. The facilities are also very good.

Disliked: Nothing really to dislike. The freezer for ice packs was useful, but would also be useful to have a fridge.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: The camping was amazing ! We chose a pitch by the trees which was more protected from the elements. Wonderful view from the other side of the camping. Lots of clean showers and toilets. The dish washing facility was great as well. Fab Farm shop on site which served great food , pasties , coffee and essentials. Very handy as we are bored of trips to the super market all the time ! Kids ate a very tasty warm sausage roll every morning 😄 The reception had everything you needed - we forgot cutlery and needed some extra pegs and we could buy them from their shop ! We hired bikes and kids played around the campsite and the ramp . There is a nice walk towards the town Lee which is fab and Lee beach is great ! Next to it there is Sandy cove which is perfect for swimming! Amazing beaches around the area - Broadsands bay was fantastic as well - steep steps though so make sure you are up for a workout ! We had a wonderful trip to Devon and the camping just made it even better :) We also hired a fire pit which was quite handy !

Disliked: Everything was great there was nothing we disliked to be honest !

Disliked: * more inland, not that close to the beach

From the manager: Thank you for your review not sure inland describes us its 5 min drive down the hill any closer you would be camping on the cliff :-) Glad you liked the site and our facilities hope to see you again sometime :-)

Electric grass pitch

Liked: We stayed with family and friends. Lee Meadow is a great location - very close to Woolacombe Beach and Ifracombe Town centre. The Farm Shop on site was brilliant, we bought a chunk of our food there. The staff were wonderful and friendly, we also had a lovely greeting when we arrived. There were bikes for hire and a Zip line, so fun for adults and kids. Loads of space there and plenty of washrooms and showers. Would recommend to anyone, we had a blast and would come back again.

Disliked: These are minor things and perhaps personal preference. I would love a place for the ladies to plug in their hairdryers and straighteners as its really difficult to get ready in a tent. It doesn't have to be in the shower facilities but a small room nearby. There are other campsites that provide this facility and it does make a big difference to your holiday experience. My other thing is the pizza idea is brilliant and the first night we got there, we were so tired, we all ordered a pizza, but as a collective of 11 people, we all agreed that the pizza base is way too thick and we couldn't finish any of our pizzas due to thickness of the bread. A thinner base would be much more enjoyable as the toppings were really tasty. Half of our pizzas went in the bin, which I thought was such a waste of good pizza because we just couldn't finish them. Minor things but just some honest feedback.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review hair dryer and straighteners are available in the family room.. see you next time :-)

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The pitches are spacious with plenty of room for our large tent, porch and car. There is a lovely huge space between the rows of tents for playing or just enjoying the space! There is lovely hedging between the fields. Staff were lovely. The shop is beautiful and the take aways looked very nice. Hire of fire pit brilliant idea.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Lovely, friendly safe campsite. Sadly the weather wasn’t on our side but it was fantastic we were able to enjoy the lovely home cooked food which was served from the farm shop. The BBQ was a no go due to winds. Staff were super friends and went above and beyond.. even giving me a much needed replacement peg!

Disliked: A small child’s play area/park would be brilliant.

Local attractions

Seven miles of golden sand beaches, surfing, diving, kayaking and shore and boat fishing are all within a few minutes' drive of the farm; on land, mountain biking, hiking, golf, horse riding and quad biking are all available locally. Within a 10-minute drive are Croyde, Putsborough, Saunton Sands and Braunton Burrows, the biggest sand dune system in the UK and part of North Devon's Biosphere Reserve, Britain's first. The dunes are also a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a national nature reserve and a Special Area of Conservation for their 400+ species of plant: take a picnic of Lee Meadow Farm produce and see how many you can spot. The small fishing villages of Clovelly, Lynton and Lynmouth are also nearby, as are the dozens of old villages, scenic coastal walks, moorland and rivers of Exmoor National Park, worth at least a couple of days for its 620 or so miles of footpaths and bridleways, its cycle paths, its climbing, sea fishing, canoeing and kayaking.
