General

  • Spectacular sea views within 20 minutes' walk of Blackpool Sands
  • Five minutes' drive from Dartmouth
  • Restaurant, bar, takeaway and shop

A Blackpool beach – in south Devon? Bamboozle those back home with Blackpool references ahoy when you pitch up at Leonards Cove Holiday Park, set within easy strolling distance not of Blackpool in Lancs, but the beaut south-west beach of Blackpool Sands.

The safe clear waters and long sandy stretch here are within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty: as you might reckon, miles' worth of similarly scnic sands are close to this cove too. You'll also be a mere few minutes' drive from the old seadog port of Dartmouth, and within 50 at most from family days out at famed attractions like Paignton Zoo, Pennywell Farm and Woodlands Family Theme Park, five miles from Dartmouth.

Leonards Cove is a peaceful, popular and roomy place, with spectacular sea views from most pitches. Its main hub is the Radius 7 bar-restaurant, which dishes up meals for those who want to eat in; if not, takeaways are available and there's a well-stocked shop on site for any additional foodie bits.

A play field is also on site, just opposite one of the gently sloping accommodation fields. For amenities, there's a washing-up area, freezer pack storage and a freshwater tap, as well as fully-serviced toilet and shower blocks with free hot water.

And finally... barbecues are allowed on site: even if you have an aversion to charring sausages over the flames, sitting back here for alfresco eats among the lush backdrop of a south Devon sunset is pretty much a must.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

location that was the only thing i liked about this place
Wifi but it not free you have to pay, but quite reasonable

    Disliked:

    pitch sizes far too small
more hook ups needed at the top end of the field where it is slightly flatter
pitches to close to each other
showers were out of order or blocked
dish-washing facilities are poor only 2 sinks and you need a small round bowl for one of them, not enough for how many they pack on the site.
pitches are at a very steep angle, site needs to be terraced....if we didn't zip our sons bedroom door up he ended up in the living area of the tent it was so steep.
    staff rude and abrupt
no sufficient ice pack freezing facilities on site only a small freezer in the small site shop
