  • Countryside park on 500 acres, 15 minutes' drive from Woolacombe
  • Woodland walks, nature trails, pool and riding centre on site
  • Two on-site bars and a takeaway; play park and miniature golf
Life’s little stresses getting you down? Want to stow yourself away for a countryside break where everything is close to your pitch? Come along to Combe Martin’s Stowford Farm Meadows in north Devon for a bit of de-stressing in a rural setting: the park is a mile from the main road down its own private drive and is a well-placed base from which to explore the best of Devon. Set among 500 acres of Devon woodland and meadows, Stowford Farm Meadows falls into the category of ‘very large’ sites – but fear not if your tastes tend towards the more solitary, as the park is divided into five separate fields and feels like several small sites rolled into one. The overall size means there are heaps of facilities and activities for you to try your hand at, from cantering around on horseback with the help of the on-site riding centre, to driving the kids crazy with your swish moves at the crazy golf. Looking for something a bit quieter? There are marked woodland walks into the wildlife-rich Bittadon valley, with nature trails starting and finishing on site. A heated indoor pool is available for a small extra charge. For putting feet up or letting hair down, the site has two bars (with evening entertainment in peak season) and an on-site takeaway. For supplies, Stowford Farm Meadows has a licensed, well-stocked shop and for your caravan and camping accessories. And finally? Even the dog will de-stress here, with a friendly welcome and a spacious dog-walking area on site…

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Pitch was large and flat but a little too shady nice to have it fully serviced

Disliked Size of site was massive. the pub only served greasy food not a salad on the menu and only bottle beer no cask. The pool was overcrowded and the reception only gave basic information. Also would be good to have an arrow system around the one way roads. The toilets were very dimly lit. Would have thought a site that size would have some form of evening entertainment but wasn’t told of any and didn’t see anything advertised. Also had to pay for wifi and only option was one or 4 days we only stayed two so cost the same as it would have for four days.

Toilet facilities weren't as clean as when we stayed 3 years ago.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The area and cleanliness of the facilities and lovely people

Disliked Ataff on reception, one lady was so rude couldn’t find my pitch up details after we had driven 4 plus hours we had to wait nearly half a day which we wasted with kids and dog was not great and having a diabetic and a blue badge holder made life very hard, then manager came and helped and was resolved in a heart beat. Wasn’t a great start to the stay but once we were on our pitch was perfect!

Electric grass touring caravan pitch

Liked The pitch was flat and large! Had a pub/ restaurant onsite as well as a small sized swimming pool. The pool offered an inflatable course twice a week. Had parks which were OK.

Disliked Toilets were always blocked and dirty. The showers had thick black mould and were dirty.
The chip shop onsite was only open on a weekend and when we did have chips from there they were uncooked and inedible.
Staff ran out of dryer tokens resulting in my washing needing to be rewashed.
Only 1 washing machine and 1 tumble dryer worked in each block.
Food onsite was overpriced.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Brilliant! My children loved it! 8 and 10. Made loads of friends with children from all around the country.

Pitches are a great size so you dont feel on top of each other.

Staff are friendly and helpful.

Disliked Crazy golf you can't play in the evening as no one on site to get the clubs and balls from. Might be an idea if you had someone in the evening in the arcade they could supply the clubs. Just a thought

No farm with the lovely animals 😢

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked We have stayed many times in the past and enjoyed our stay. This time the only positive thing about our stay was that we had precious family there that we could spend time with

Disliked We didn't get a welcome pack advising us of the park guidance. We had a very uneven pitch and had to go and buy ramps. The hard standing areas were a poor quality, peaks and troughs making it difficult to level the caravan. There was either no handwash in the toilets or else the dispensers weren't working. We reported this to reception on our first full day but she didn't even make a note of our concerns. This does not show care and concern for people's health and welfare at the site. We had cow manure scattered all around the back area behind the caravan and on our mains lead which was not pleasant or acceptable. There were no signs to indicate cleaning times in the toilets but we found on our last day as we were about to leave the toilets were closed for cleaning and we had a two hour journey ahead of us. There is a distinct deterioration in the care and organization of the site since it has changed ownership

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Originally booked through pitchup.com, but then the site was taken over by Park Dean. However, they honoured the booking details and price. Email communication was responsive, and when we arrived, reception was very friendly and allowed us to pitch slightly early.

Pitches were fairly level and accommodated medium to large tents and a car.

Toilet blocks on each field are central, and we didn't have to queue for any, so there were enough.

There is a swimming pool which you no longer need to book and has extended hours to 7 pm, a small park which the kids loved, a clubhouse (with evening entertainment) and shop. The site is well kept and has adequate disposal areas for rubbish and toilet waste.

Disliked * Electric hook ups often require running a cable fully across someone pitch and the warden didn't seem bothered by that trip hazard (as that wasn't always behind a tent).
* Toilet/shower blocks needed more regular cleaning and toilet roll/soap refilling more often.
* Shower sensors were temperamental and temperature was too hot at times especially for smal children.
* The swimming pool was freezing and changing rooms smelt like urine and covered in grass (4 out of 5 times). £4.50 per person (regardless or age) and our 3 year old could only manage 30mins each time. They have a policy of 1:1 for under 4, 1:2 for 4-14 so if you are a single adult with more one child you might not be able to swim despite your child's swimming ability. No lifeguard but they do have strict rules and hold up a sign 'no jumping' etc.
* By the end of the stay the field we were on had filled up and it became quite cramped and loud, especially at night.
