  • Countryside park on 500 acres, 15 minutes' drive from Woolacombe
  • Woodland walks, nature trails, pool and riding centre on site
  • Two on-site bars and a takeaway; play park and miniature golf
Life’s little stresses getting you down? Want to stow yourself away for a countryside break where everything is close to your pitch? Come along to Combe Martin’s Stowford Farm Meadows in north Devon for a bit of de-stressing in a rural setting: the park is a mile from the main road down its own private drive and is a well-placed base from which to explore the best of Devon. Set among 500 acres of Devon woodland and meadows, Stowford Farm Meadows falls into the category of ‘very large’ sites – but fear not if your tastes tend towards the more solitary, as the park is divided into five separate fields and feels like several small sites rolled into one. The overall size means there are heaps of facilities and activities for you to try your hand at, from cantering around on horseback with the help of the on-site riding centre, to driving the kids crazy with your swish moves at the crazy golf. Looking for something a bit quieter? There are marked woodland walks into the wildlife-rich Bittadon valley, with nature trails starting and finishing on site. A heated indoor pool is available for a small extra charge. For putting feet up or letting hair down, the site has two bars (with evening entertainment in peak season) and an on-site takeaway. For supplies, Stowford Farm Meadows has a licensed, well-stocked shop and for your caravan and camping accessories. And finally? Even the dog will de-stress here, with a friendly welcome and a spacious dog-walking area on site…

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked There is a very nice bar and restaurant on site and the swimming pool is a real asset

Disliked Our pitch was very unlevel and our chocks were not big enough to right this so we spent all weekend in an unlevel motorhome which is not great when you pay for hardstanding. The one thing you would expect is for it to be level.

There is very little signage around the site so finding our pitch number (which was painted on the ground and covered in wet grass cuttings) was almost impossible.

We got lost on the way out with no signage for EXIT which would have been handy.

There was grass cutting taking place and the grass cuttings were everywhere in thick clumps all over the paved areas and therefore made it from peoples shoes into the toilet and shower areas which was very unpleasant. Wet grass cuttings also got into our motorhome which again was avoidable if they had been cleared from the paved areas.

We were pitched at the bottom of a hill next to a hedged area. The walk to the toilet block would have been made much easier had there been a pedestrian path straight across the field as opposed to having to use the road which takes twice as long to walk as it takes you to either the right or left of the block. Walking on the grass was very messy due to the clumped cuttings.

There was only one hand dryer in the toilet block which was huge.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Lovely walks from site, very clean amenities, staff very friendly and helpful, bakery and small shop on site, crazy golf, arcade, most pitches were level, and site was well kept, also a bar but we didn’t use

Disliked Weather was awful for the whole week we stayed, but obviously not the sites fault. Not a real problem, but the timer for the lights in the showers went off early in the morning so we had to shower in the dark, we did mention to warden who put timer forward, but lights still went off at 8:00am and with the awful weather it was still quite dark in the showers.
dislike was the afternoon before we left a group arrived and had very noisy motorcycles, which they rode up and down the site on numerous occasions, as we were leaving following day we didn’t complain to the wardens.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The pitch was a good hard standing. Po was good, but expensive for children.

Disliked Showers were cold, shower blocks not cleaned regularly. Stable bar was in need of an update - quite dirty. Food was not good, steak chewy, no mustard or mushrooms. On Monday 8/9 they started digging out/preparing a field above our pitch for more static caravans - diggers, dumper trucks and lorries driving up and down all day from 7:30am. Very noisy and left a lot of mud. I paid for internet connectivity, which was hit and miss, then broke completely on Friday 12/9 and was out for 48 hours. Reception did nothing to help. Site has gone downhill since Park Holidays took over.
