  • Countryside park on 500 acres, 15 minutes' drive from Woolacombe
  • Woodland walks, nature trails, pool and riding centre on site
  • Two on-site bars and a takeaway; play park and miniature golf
Life’s little stresses getting you down? Want to stow yourself away for a countryside break where everything is close to your pitch? Come along to Combe Martin’s Stowford Farm Meadows in north Devon for a bit of de-stressing in a rural setting: the park is a mile from the main road down its own private drive and is a well-placed base from which to explore the best of Devon. Set among 500 acres of Devon woodland and meadows, Stowford Farm Meadows falls into the category of ‘very large’ sites – but fear not if your tastes tend towards the more solitary, as the park is divided into five separate fields and feels like several small sites rolled into one. The overall size means there are heaps of facilities and activities for you to try your hand at, from cantering around on horseback with the help of the on-site riding centre, to driving the kids crazy with your swish moves at the crazy golf. Looking for something a bit quieter? There are marked woodland walks into the wildlife-rich Bittadon valley, with nature trails starting and finishing on site. A heated indoor pool is available for a small extra charge; some days, there are also activities here like the aqua inflatable run and 'aqua paddlers' sessions for kids (both at an additional charge). For putting feet up or letting hair down, the site has two bars (with evening entertainment in peak season) and an on-site takeaway. For supplies, Stowford Farm Meadows has a licensed, well-stocked shop for your caravan and camping accessories. And finally? Even the dog will de-stress here, with a friendly welcome and a spacious dog-walking area on site…

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Location and cleanliness of toilet blocks

Disliked This running of this site is disorganised chaos. Having failed to respond to any of our groups emails regarding being sited together we requested this on arrival. 3 times one of our group was sent to a pitch where a tent was already erected. Not a great start!! Every time you had to go into reception there was a big queue and at times being manned by disinterested staff. Despite all the signage saying book the carts in reception I queued only to be then sent somewhere else. There was no stock of tent tags or arcade cards available. It’s peak summer hols - surely someone realised it would be a busy time. The shop looked like it had been robbed. When I asked for milk I was simply told that two deliveries that week had not turned up - I wouldn’t be surprised if they simply had not been ordered. Is it too difficult to stock basic camping supplies and not just be for sweets and toys. We didn’t venture into the pool as despite being advertised as no booking required, you not only needed to book but to queue again for wristbands in reception. No idea how good the Wi-Fi is because it was extortionately priced. Oh and what is the point of a site speed limit when the staff ignore it - staff on electric bikes using site as a personal race course.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Campsite was clean and staff were friendly!

Disliked We tried to call before arrival to double check what time check in closes and never got through to a person.
We went to book the pool and were told it was closed. Went to hire some bikes it was closed. Went to look at maybe riding the horses and it was closed. Would have thought with it being a Saturday and very busy things would be open!

We also had some neighbours who decided to be unfair and take up half our pitch and allow their kids to play bat and ball and football next to our car! Which ended up our car being hit multiple times!

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Huge pitches with lots of space, plenty of shower /bathroom blocks and each one has a good number of loos and shower stalls. Helpful staff and great activity options. Well situated for jaunts to the beach and the grocery store. Very dog friendly, with a big dog exercise area

Disliked Lots of visitors so a very busy site, might not be suitable for people looking for quiet camping

Electric grass touring caravan pitch

Liked Reception staff were soo friendly and helpful at check in and for anything else. Even my 7 year old who was observing commented how lovely the one gentleman was when he was dealing with various queries. Good choice of activities on site, especially for rainy days. We enjoyed the horse ride and had really nice chips from the on site chippy. We took advantage of the pizza deal, they are big. The toilet and shower facilities never felt too busy. Plenty of drinking water stations dotted around.

Disliked There are no clear boundaries to the pitches. I had to guess where my pitch was as on the day of arrival, the pitches around mine were empty. Unfortunately the shop was pretty empty and a long list of unavailable meals at the restaurant. I'm aware it was an issue with deliveries, not sure if a one off and we were just unlucky. But I will say the shop prices seemed reasonable, £1.50 for a scoop of ice cream, won't get that price anywhere else.
