  • Countryside park on 500 acres, 15 minutes' drive from Woolacombe
  • Woodland walks, nature trails, pool and riding centre on site
  • Two on-site bars and a takeaway; play park and miniature golf
Life’s little stresses getting you down? Want to stow yourself away for a countryside break where everything is close to your pitch? Come along to Combe Martin’s Stowford Farm Meadows in north Devon for a bit of de-stressing in a rural setting: the park is a mile from the main road down its own private drive and is a well-placed base from which to explore the best of Devon. Set among 500 acres of Devon woodland and meadows, Stowford Farm Meadows falls into the category of ‘very large’ sites – but fear not if your tastes tend towards the more solitary, as the park is divided into five separate fields and feels like several small sites rolled into one. The overall size means there are heaps of facilities and activities for you to try your hand at, from cantering around on horseback with the help of the on-site riding centre, to driving the kids crazy with your swish moves at the crazy golf. Looking for something a bit quieter? There are marked woodland walks into the wildlife-rich Bittadon valley, with nature trails starting and finishing on site. A heated indoor pool is available for a small extra charge. For putting feet up or letting hair down, the site has two bars (with evening entertainment in peak season) and an on-site takeaway. For supplies, Stowford Farm Meadows has a licensed, well-stocked shop and for your caravan and camping accessories. And finally? Even the dog will de-stress here, with a friendly welcome and a spacious dog-walking area on site…

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Nice campsite, clean showers (although they were boiling hot), nice pitch.

Disliked There were issues with the water for both days we were there so we weren't able to access the toilets in our field, plus I think there was maintenance work going on till 11pm (a loud engine/machinery type noise). The shop wasn’t very well stocked, no bacon or sausages in the morning. Entertainment was very basic.
You have to pay for the wifi each day.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Good size of the pitch.
Plenty of facilities and decently maintained.
Very kind staff.
Pet friendly

Disliked Price of the pub.
More trees to provide more shade. It was unbelievably hot.
Issue with the water, some showers and toilet blocks were closed for two days. Although it was not their fault, it was very disruptive to our stay.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Shop and takeaway on site. Nice atmosphere.

Disliked Site booked to capacity and the facilities couldn’t cope, resulting in no running water for 3 days during 30 degree heat. Toilets became full and wouldn’t flush, no drinking water, no showers and swimming pool closed. There was no communication from management about what was happening. No attempt to hand out water, in fact they even closed the shop.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked N/a

Disliked There was no running water in the campsite, toilets blocked and overflowing, nowhere to wash hands, brush teeth etc.
Extremely disgusting facilities and no hygeine due to this. The smell was overwhelming.
No communication from staff about when the water would be fixed, it was not working for at least 12 hours when we departed.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Great sized pitch

Disliked On arrival it was difficult to find the pitch… and we weren’t the only ones driving up a down which was annoying! Toilets and showers were ok. On our last morning (bank holiday so park was full) there was no running water… the toilets were disgusting. Nobody from the management seemed bothered.

Local attractions

The highlights of north Devon are a pebble throw away, with Combe Martin on the doorstep and the famed harbour and seafront of Ilfracombe a few miles away (if you forget your wetsuit, the clever sorts at Stowford sell them in the on-site shop). Take little monsters to the animatronic dinosaurs, train ride and 250 species of wildlife at Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park where they can help feed the lions or see the birds of prey, or along to Exmoor Zoo for yet more specis to see. Not thrilling enough? Let them see stars at the Milky Way Adventure Park with the tallest rollercoaster in Devon, or whirl about the rides and play areas of The Big Sheep.
