Beverly Hills Camping: Gypsy micro pod microlodge

General

  • Peaceful dog-friendly site seven miles from Dartmoor National Park
  • A 15-minute drive from Roadford Lake and half an hour from the coast
  • Tuck shop on site, plus regular drive-in cinema nights

From chasing down waterfalls and climbing mountain peaks to rummaging through rockpools on the shore, find a nice helping of nature-inspired adventures from Beverly Hills Camping. Seven miles from Dartmoor National Park and half an hour from the beaches at Bude, this site has a little bit of both worlds, all from a peaceful dog-friendly site stretching over 15 acres and surrounded by splendid countryside views.

Work up an appetite… 15 minutes’ drive away, paddle laps around Roadford Lake on a paddleboard, kayak or canoe. And when you feel like sticking to the land, there Pegasus Way trail runs past the site and leads the way into the local forest. For further exhilaration, join the Sunday morning goings-on organised by a qualified England Athletics coach.

Afterwards, refill with a snack from the tuck shop on site. You may want to pick up something special if you're here on a night when the drive-in cinema's running, as there’s a screen set up alongside the site that shows films on selected evenings (check the weather and screening times in advance; booking recommended). Aside from that, things are kept nicely straightforward on site with toilets and water just so that pets can drink or wash off.

When you fancy your food prepared somewhere nice, there are a few pubs or restaurants within 10 minutes’ drive of the site, including a dog-friendly pub in Bratton, plus a food shop 10 minutes’ drive away too.

Good views good idea could have been better and not worth £10031/08/2021

The views are amazing and the field is very well kept. The gentleman running the site was very nice.

    Disliked:

The portaloo was disgusting and smelly, all the rubbish from various campers where left in bags at the side of the portaloo, I feel like the photos made the pods look bigger than they are and I didn’t realise the beds where going to be air beds, the bed takes up the whole floor space so you have to crawl to get out of the tiny door which you have to go through sideways in order to fit in. The cinema was a quirky good idea and it was a sell out however I feel £7.50 per adult was a bit steep due to the movie being outdoors the sun has to be down to see it therefore it didn’t end until 10:30 and anyone staying at the site has to listen to people shouting laughing and cars driving in and out of the field as everyone leaves.

From the manager...

Sorry you didn't enjoy yourself we are gutted this is our first bad review out of 30 this year. We would have refunded you if you weren't happy if you would have said. I could offer you the bigger pod for free next time but as you wouldn't stay again or recommend it the last thing you would want to do is come back.
