  • Well-maintained pitches five minutes’ walk from Porthleven, Cornwall
  • A 10-minute drive to Flambards Theme Park; 15 minutes to Marazion
  • On-site pub; five minutes’ walk to the beach and South West Coast Path
A family-run touring caravan and campsite located about 500 meters from the centre of the historic fishing village of Porthleven, Mill Lane Campsite is a dog-friendly spot with generous-sized, level pitches and plenty of space for all the family. The campsite is a five-minute walk from Porthleven beach, famous as one of Cornwall’s best reef breaks (are you listening, surfers?). It’s also five minutes to the South West Coast Path, making this a great base for long-distance hikers too. Porthleven village hosts the award-winning Food Festival in July, but you can eat in quirky cafes, traditional pubs or fine-dining restaurants – all serving fresh, seasonal food – any time of year. Pick up foodie supplies in the local shops – including delicious Cornish pasties – and there’s a handy supermarket too. And there’s no need to fret about keeping everyone entertained in the evenings. The on-site free house sells the world-famous Cornish ale Spingo, brewed in Helston (10 minutes’ drive), so adults are never far away from a refreshment. For the kids, there’s a pool table in the pub, as well as sport on the big screen and live music throughout the year. Bingo fans can play every Friday evening at 7pm with cash prizes.

Electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Location close to Porthleven and level pitches. Facilities always clean.

Disliked "New" toilet block is a portacabin and as such is not exactly luxurious but it is functional.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Good, level pitches. We had fully serviced, and it worked well without issue.

Disliked The porta Loo style trailer for some reason had frosted glass doors, so not a lot of privacy.

The chemical waste point could have been a bit better.

As the site is behind the pub, it wasn’t very good when the recycling truck arrived at 06:30 to collect the glass waste. Certainly an early morning call.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked We had a lovely holiday at Mill lane, the lady at reception/bar was lovely. Porthleven is a lovely place, lots of good independent shops and places to eat and drink

Disliked The very dated facilities although they were reasonably clean. We use our own shower in our unit. The price is obviously for the location.

Liked Porthleven, close to bus stop for Falmouth and Penzance. Free wifi

Disliked Top dollar prices for very basic site, showers and toilets were dated and dirty, Elsa’s point was built by someone who’s never used one. As for warden or staff never saw any!
There is a pub onsite which may attract some, but with Porthleven harbour only half a mile down the road we didn’t view it as a positive.
The site is half a mile from the harbour tucked between a housing estate and car parks, not the prettiest of locations.
From a security point of view we never saw the entrance gates closed and with the lack of visible staff anyone can drive onto the site. We watched a van drive in site fill up with water and tip waste, then drive away.
Pitches are level and a decent size, but for the price per night, I expected better.

Local attractions

If you’re keen to get out on the water, Porthleven beach (five minutes’ walk) is a fantastic surfing spot, and you can take coastal cruises (try one at dusk for spectacular sunset views) or sea-fishing trips from Porthleven harbour (10 minutes). Meanwhile, at Marazion (15 minutes’ drive) it’s a short hop across the bay to the crag-top castle and gardens at Mount St Michael. Kids will clamour to get on the coasters and flumes at Flambards Theme Park (10 minutes), or splash in the sea at sheltered Gunwalloe Church Cove Beach. There are plenty of family hikes along the Lizard Heritage Coast (both 20 minutes) and lots of seabirds for the kids to spot along the way. And there’s masses of art and culture in these parts too; the galleries and museums of St Ives (30 minutes) warrant a day’s attention, and there are rare plants and wacky artworks to be seen in Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens (20 minutes).
