General

  • On the Roseland peninsula three miles from the Lost Gardens at Heligan
  • Spectacular sea views, all a short walk from the beach
  • Big pool, sun loungers, café with takeaway and shop with off-licence

Just look at that beach… Seaview Gorran Haven Holiday Park is at the start of the Roseland Peninsula on Cornwall's south coast, a short stroll from spectacular sands and in a stunningly scenic park, with colourful flowers, tall palm trees and views over the ocean and nearby Dodman Point.

Seaview is centrally set for heaps of attractions including the South West Coast Path, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project, about 20 minutes' walk from its nearest beach, easily reachable by foot. St Austell is the closest big town, about 20 minutes' drive away.

A heated outdoor pool and small paddling pool are among the excellently-kept modern facilities at Seaview, both with plenty of sun loungers alongside on the terrace. Kids have a play area with swings and slides, as well as loads of room to run around at the park's big games areas.

Food, drinks and convenience goods are all available in the park shop, with a takeaway menu. The shop also has groceries, an off-licence, souvenirs and Calor gas bottles. Barbecues are allowed, so fire one up, get the sausages frying, and settle back to watch the sunset sinking over the Cornish sea from your crackingly scenic pitch.

There wasn’t a thing we didn’t like there is a lovely park a swimming pool on site. The shop isn’t expensive at all and your in a great place to visit lots of different beaches and walks. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who really wants to relax and have quality time together as a family as it’s unspoiled and not constantly wanting you to spend spend spend.

Nice location, unfortunately that's about as far as it goes for the likes.

    Disliked:

On arrival we were presented with a pitch which was nowhere near the size specified on booking, we just about managed to pitch our tent although we did have to put guy lines outside of our pitch area. The pitches were far too crammed in. Facilities were very dated and not well thought out (ie different locations for showering and brushing teeth). There were at least 2 toilet cubicles out of order during our stay. Showers hanging off the walls with little more than a dribble, not ideal when trying to get young children showered. The waste water sink next to our tent was blocked during our whole stay (4 nights)

I know its always a bit of a gamble who you get pitch up next to you and we were the unlucky ones this time, the tent next door were told at least 5 times to keep the noise down by other campers and us, there was no intervention from staff, intact I barely saw any staff the whole time I was there.

We didn't even venture into the pool as we heard lots of people saying how cold it was

This is not a cheap campsite, £45 per night for a family of 4, I have stayed in many far cheaper campsites with far superior facilities. I got the impression that this campsite was all about cramming people in making money and not really caring about their guests. I will not be returning.

Pitch size, pool, shop & the site itself had a nice feel. Good location.

    Disliked:

Toilets and washing/shower facilities were not cleaned/checked often enough. Often there was no soap in the dispensers. No proper shaving facilities. Everything was very dated and in desperate need of an upgrade.

Other campers taking shortcuts across our pitch and around our tent was very annoying.

The 3rd time we have stayed at this campsite in the last 4 years, over that time it has generally gone down hill which is sad as the location is excellent. Lots of emphasis on selling £200k plus chalet style homes and no work on improving the facilities. The staff are all friendly enough but they don't make any decisions with regards to the investment in the site. Not that im 100% sure but it seems as though it was once privatley owned and once sold it has been lacking investment. The site itself is clean enough and as I say the staff are attentive when required.

    Disliked:

Massive uphill walks in any direction if you go to any beach, no life guard at the pool, no night time security. Onsite cafe is pretty dodgy, im no food snob but the breakfast is terrible.

    Disliked:

With young children we picked this site for the Baths, they did not work in mens and women's only one worked and even that was roped so we ended up bathing our baby in the sink. This was not the end of the world hence 4 stars!

Directions

From St Austell, take the B3273 towards Mevagissey for approximately three miles, at the top of the steep hill, turn right signposted to The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Seaview International. Follow this road and the brown signs to Seaview International.

Please note: If you are using a GPS or satnav device then do not carry straight on at the top of the hill as this will take you into the centre of Mevagissey where the streets are extremely narrow and often blocked. Please turn right at the top of the hill and your device should recalculate your route avoiding the centre of Mevagissey.

Local attractions

Seaview is close to the South West Coast Path – and sands – of Restormel, a top spot for cyclists and walkers, and among the coves, safe clean beaches and jaw-droppingly scenic coast of the beaut Roselands Peninsula. St Mawes and St Just are both within easy reach; access sailing, fishing boat hire and kayaking nearby at Mevagissey.

Famed Cornish options close by are the Lost Gardens of Heligan, three and a half miles away, and the big biomes and the tropical rainforest of the Eden Project, under 10. You could also take a boat trip along the Fal from Falmouth, pedal the Clay Trail for five miles from the Eden Project to Wheal Martyn, or venture determinedly forth for Cornwall's old castles and buildings, including the Caerhays Castle manor house a couple of miles from the site.

Kids will surely like the Shipwreck and Heritage Centre, within a short drive at the port of Charlestown, and Flambards theme park and the Crealy Great Adventure Park about an hour by car. A football golf centre, indoor soft play and the Wingz bird and animal sanctuary are all a few minutes' drive from St Austell.

Regattas, carnivals and festivals run throughout Cornwall all year round; ask the Seaview team when you arrive what's going on locally during your hol.
