Seaview Gorran Haven Holiday Park

9.1

This site does not currently take bookings here on Pitchup.com.

General

  • On the Roseland Peninsula three miles from the Lost Gardens at Heligan
  • Spectacular sea views, all a short walk from the beach
  • Big pool, sun loungers and large play areas

Just look at that beach… Seaview Gorran Haven Holiday Park is at the start of the Roseland Peninsula on Cornwall's south coast, surrounded by a patchwork of fields and the blue sea. It's a short stroll from spectacular sands and in a stunningly scenic park with colourful flowers and views over the ocean and nearby Dodman Point.

Seaview is centrally set for heaps of attractions including the South West Coast Path, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project, about 20 minutes' walk from its nearest beach, easily reachable by foot. St Austell is the closest big town, about 20 minutes' drive away.

A heated outdoor pool and small paddling pool are among the excellently-kept modern facilities at Seaview, both with plenty of sun loungers alongside on the terrace. Kids have a play area with swings and slides, as well as loads of room to run around at the park's big games areas. There is also a secure dog-walking area where pups can run free.

Well on the Web site you have to be very careful concerning their COVID insurance. Basically they will only let you transfer the booking to the same year, and if your booking is in September then you have pretty much lost your money. If it's camping then you can pay over the odds to get a caravan out of season until November. As such I lost my money which was a shame as I've been attending this camp site since it first started. It seems now it's owned by a bigger corporation they won't even transfer a camping pitching space until next season. Sad it's become so cut throat used to be such a happy place run for the good of the campers.

The location, shortish walk to the beach. Noce spacious pitches with privacy created by an attractive hedge and other trees.

    Disliked:

Hard standing pitch had sharp rocks that were uncomfortable under the awning.

    Disliked:

The site lacked facilities and the right up made it sound like there was more to do than there actually was. The pub was too far to walk and the beaches were not easily accessible with a motorhome and a longer way to walk than was described on the website. The toilets on a number of occasions where not clean .On a plus side the staff were friendly

Very clean and well maintained site with an access to the pool, playground and a short walk distance to the beach. The beach is a beautiful gem with both sand and rocks and rock pools.
The pitches are separated by hedges and surrounded by pine trees which gives both a privacy and some shade.

    Disliked:

The concrete laid for the cars and motor homes is so wide that it makes it difficult to put up a tent without putting the pegs into the cement. Not a major problem but it would be nice to seat on a grass.

Lovely site with great facilities. Electric pitches were large, sheltered and fairly private. Bathrooms were fab. Pool was a life saver, especially when it was too windy on the beach. Kids enjoyed the park. The site is clearly well looked after and staff were nice too.

    Disliked:

Not the campsites fault, but unfortunately we were pitched near to a couple of families who had no regard for others in terms of noise, bad language and their dogs.

Felt like maybe the site should provide more guidance/rules for the camping area. A lot of dogs near us were not tethered on their pitches and often wandered over to our pitch without the owners realising. It was fine for us but could have been more of an issue for campers with small children or anxious dogs.

The swimming pool, the general location. This is a quiet campsite for those that want to get away from it all, but still had very basic amenities. We have been before this and will go again. Staff are friendly.

    Disliked:

Used to be a grass field but now you have a mostly hard pitch with a bit of grass around it which wasn’t a huge deal as only there for one night and our tent did fit on the grass but you are effectively not using the majority of your ‘pitch’. Also no fire pits/bbq allowed. Shop is too basic.

Directions

From St Austell, take the B3273 towards Mevagissey for approximately three miles, at the top of the steep hill, turn right signposted to The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Seaview International. Follow this road and the brown signs to Seaview International.

Please note: If you are using a GPS or satnav device then do not carry straight on at the top of the hill as this will take you into the centre of Mevagissey where the streets are extremely narrow and often blocked. Please turn right at the top of the hill and your device should recalculate your route avoiding the centre of Mevagissey.

Please note: All distances on this page are calculated "as the crow flies" - please check actual distance depending on your mode of travel using the Get directions button above.

Local attractions

Seaview is close to the South West Coast Path – and sands – of Restormel, a top spot for cyclists and walkers, and among the coves, safe clean beaches and jaw-droppingly scenic coast of the beaut Roseland Peninsula. St Mawes and St Just are both within easy reach; access sailing, fishing boat hire and kayaking nearby at Mevagissey.

Famed Cornish options close by are the Lost Gardens of Heligan, three and a half miles away, and the big biomes and the tropical rainforest of the Eden Project, under 10. You could also take a boat trip along the Fal from Falmouth, pedal the Clay Trail for five miles from the Eden Project to Wheal Martyn, or venture determinedly forth for Cornwall's old castles and buildings, including the Caerhays Castle manor house a couple of miles from the site.

Kids will surely like the Shipwreck and Heritage Centre, within a short drive at the port of Charlestown, and Flambards theme park and the Crealy Great Adventure Park (about an hour by car). A football golf centre, indoor soft play and the Wingz bird and animal sanctuary are all a few minutes' drive from St Austell.

Regattas, carnivals and festivals run throughout Cornwall all year round; ask the Seaview team when you arrive what's going on locally during your hol.
