Seaview Gorran Haven Holiday Park: Lodges

General

  • On the Roseland Peninsula three miles from the Lost Gardens at Heligan
  • Spectacular sea views, all a short walk from the beach
  • Big pool, sun loungers and large play areas

Just look at that beach… Seaview Gorran Haven Holiday Park is at the start of the Roseland Peninsula on Cornwall's south coast, surrounded by a patchwork of fields and the blue sea. It's a short stroll from spectacular sands and in a stunningly scenic park with colourful flowers and views over the ocean and nearby Dodman Point.

Seaview is centrally set for heaps of attractions including the South West Coast Path, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project, about 20 minutes' walk from its nearest beach, easily reachable by foot. St Austell is the closest big town, about 20 minutes' drive away.

A heated outdoor pool and small paddling pool are among the excellently-kept modern facilities at Seaview, both with plenty of sun loungers alongside on the terrace. Kids have a play area with swings and slides, as well as loads of room to run around at the park's big games areas. There is also a secure dog-walking area where pups can run free.

Beautiful location, understated site. Very relaxed. Excellent facilities, very clean. Pitches separated by hedges and the trees and wildlife area was a treat, listening to the birds above. Dog walking area to give the pup a run around off lead. Very highly recommended.

This is a stunning site for camping. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Greeted us with a big smile and a customised map so we couldn't get lost. Very nice showers, cleaned daily. Kitchen available with washing machine and dryer. We have stayed with kids between 8 to 13 years and we have all enjoyed the outdoor swimming pool every day. Kids also enjoyed the huge play field.

The walk to the local beach is a bit of a trek, but the location in general is fabulous and with such amazing views you really feel you are somewhere special. Looking forward to a new shop and cafe on site.

We really, really enjoyed this holiday as it was a beautifully peaceful site, with large serviced pitch, separate bathrooms with free showers that were only a short walk from the pitches. There's a large play area that's suitable for all ages and is close enough to the pitches to allow kids a bit of freedom. The pool is very secure and kept at the perfect temperature - a little bit of a walk from the camping pitches but not too far. We loved how close the site was to porthluney bay which was the most perfect beach - quiet, clean sand and crystal clear seawater, parking right next to the sand, with a cute bar, restaurant and dessert hut just off the beach.
The views from the site are amazing - sea view from the pitches and being able to watch the sunset in the evenings was magical.
We can't wait to return again to Seaview!

    Disliked:

The showers were very hot! There was no option to change the temperature and after 30 seconds it became too hot to bear - unfortunately made it difficult to give kids a shower as it was far too hot for them, luckily ours enjoyed a bucket bath instead!
It would also be nice to see a small shop on site just for basics like bread and milk and ice creams - it is quite an isolated site so you do need to drive to get to any shops.

Directions

From St Austell, take the B3273 towards Mevagissey for approximately three miles, at the top of the steep hill, turn right signposted to The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Seaview International. Follow this road and the brown signs to Seaview International.

Please note: If you are using a GPS or satnav device then do not carry straight on at the top of the hill as this will take you into the centre of Mevagissey where the streets are extremely narrow and often blocked. Please turn right at the top of the hill and your device should recalculate your route avoiding the centre of Mevagissey.

Local attractions

Seaview is close to the South West Coast Path – and sands – of Restormel, a top spot for cyclists and walkers, and among the coves, safe clean beaches and jaw-droppingly scenic coast of the beaut Roseland Peninsula. St Mawes and St Just are both within easy reach; access sailing, fishing boat hire and kayaking nearby at Mevagissey.

Famed Cornish options close by are the Lost Gardens of Heligan, three and a half miles away, and the big biomes and the tropical rainforest of the Eden Project, under 10. You could also take a boat trip along the Fal from Falmouth, pedal the Clay Trail for five miles from the Eden Project to Wheal Martyn, or venture determinedly forth for Cornwall's old castles and buildings, including the Caerhays Castle manor house a couple of miles from the site.

Kids will surely like the Shipwreck and Heritage Centre, within a short drive at the port of Charlestown, and Flambards theme park and the Crealy Great Adventure Park (about an hour by car). A football golf centre, indoor soft play and the Wingz bird and animal sanctuary are all a few minutes' drive from St Austell.

Regattas, carnivals and festivals run throughout Cornwall all year round; ask the Seaview team when you arrive what's going on locally during your hol.
