Stunning surroundings

General

  • Petting corner on site with ponies
  • Easy access to Camel Creek Adventure Park
  • Pool, bar, games room and free hot showers

Ponies! Heaps of things will make your kids’ hearts sing on a stay at long-established and family-run Music Water Touring Park near Padstow in Cornwall, but you can bet that the petting corner on site to nuzzle the noses of snuggly ponies will be any small person’s first melodious stop.

(You can then casually inform them – kids, not ponies – that Music Water is within trotting distance of Camel Creek Adventure Park, and we bet they’ll be singing all through the hol.)

As befits a park with ponies on it, Music Water has a paddock layout for those to prefer to pitch up in a peaceful countryside setting. Kids can canter off to the play area and games room with pool tables, amusement machines and table tennis; for all sizes, the outdoor pool and family-friendly bar will keep the holiday harmonious.

Amenities-wise, guests have access to two shower and toilet blocks with free hot water, a launderette, freezer pack service and an on-site post box (to send home jubilant postcards).

Trotting off site, Music Water is a few miles from the coastal walks and sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast of north Cornwall, four miles from Padstow and the Camel Trail, and seven miles from Wadebridge. Newquay – and its zoo – is about eight miles away, and the famed Eden Project about half an hour’s drive.

Buy barbecue bits and essentials at the shop a couple of miles away or at the Tesco in Padstow; diners out have stacks of choice from restaurants and pubs in Padstow, Wadebridge, Newquay and St Merryn.

Not at all pleased . Will not be returning . Site needs a shop with basics at least and shower blocks & toilets are in desperate need of updating and cleaning daily . Paint was peeling off the walls and mop bucket with same water was left in the toilets all week . No sanitation bins in the ladies toilets . Very poor management . Was shown where to park our van when we arrived then no other contact was made by staff . Such a shame could be a fantastic site in the right hands :-(

I’m sorry you saw fit to rate us a very low 2, but I respect that everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
We don’t advertise that we have a shop on site so I’m sorry you expecting one. We do have a local shop and post office just 2 miles from us and a Tesco store in Padstow 4 miles away.
The toilets may seen dated but are cleaned every day and are regularly checked. The mop bucket is emptied everyday by staff and is left there incase campers wish to mop up water from the floors when it’s raining to try and stop slipping accidents. As you can see from many other reviews the vast majority of customers find the toilets and showers clean and tidy.
We do have sanitation bins in the ladies individual toilets and a larger bin in the main sink area I’m sorry you didn’t see them.
During the school holiday and when you stayed the reception and bar area is open everyday from 9am to last orders at 11pm, as you mentioned we also show each and every camper to their pitch so I’m sorry you didn’t have any contact with us but we are all around the site most of the day!
We believe we offer fantastic value for families to enjoy their holiday and we welcome back many returning customers each year.

A great park, plenty of space, nice and simple.
No overcrowding, a pool for the children (a bit cold for us adults).
Pitches were very well laid out with plenty of water points and toilet blocks.
Friendly arrival staff (do take note that you need to pay cash).

We didn't use the bar, but the children had great fun in the games room.

Perfect location for Padstow and much of the NW of Cornwall with easy access if you want to go further afield.

    The location and friendly staff.

    Disliked:

How outdated everything was! The toilets, although cleaned, were dirty. In and around the toilet were just cobwebs, spiders and bugs. The facilities were outdated and needed a desperate upgrade! The pool is pointless and only big enough for a few children! Paint peeling, doors that came straight from the 70's and showers you had to keep turning on every 5 seconds! Literally a cold cow shed for cleaning dishes and only a handful of showers for what can be over 80+ people. No card machine, no WiFi (Which can be good). Only cash. It was like going back in time to the 70's!

From the manager...

Sorry you like our site and it wasn’t for you. Lots of people actually love that our site isn’t one of the big commercial sites and love the fact that we are a true family run site for families.
I completely disagree with our swimming pool being pointless as it is very popular with our campers and is enjoyed by many every summer, many who are returning campers.
Our facilities Maybe a little dated but are clean and tidy with everything you need.
On the plus side I’m glad you found us friendly and commented on what a great location our site is.
We believe weboffer good value for a a clean and well maintained happy place to camp.

That it was local to a lot of things. You can drive down the road and find beaches within 10 minutes. People around you are friendly. Owners was friendly. Games room was great for my 5 year old and me and my partner admittedly, we loved the table tennis. A round of drinks was very cheap, less than £7 for a gin & tonic, beer and lemonade. There are food vans that come 2 nights a week, one is a curry van, the other a chippy van which is great. The outdoor pool was clean my son loved it. Showers are free and we didn't have any waits to get in them, it waa relatively busy as well. We had a good stay.

    Disliked:

Not me but my son (and nothing can be done about it really) was spiders in the toilets, he wouldn't go near them. Maybe just a lick of paint to freshen things up.

From the manager...

Thank you for such a lovely review, we really try hard to keep the site looking clean and tidy and I’m so pleased that you had a lovely holiday with us.

When arrived there was a lot of dog mess which my 3 year old trod in and walked in the camper van , my wife complained and they got it removed, bar/club is small and needs modernising

From the manager...

Thank you for your review, I’m so glad you found our site quiet and peaceful. I apologise for the dog mess, unfortunately some irresponsible dog owners don’t pick up after their dogs. We do our best to remind people to do so and will immediately pick up any mess that has not been picked up.

The staff were friendly, helpful and the all-round environment was positive and the price was good. The facilities were clean and well looked after. The pitch itself had no problems, it was perfect size for us and it was on level ground

    Disliked:

The laundry system wasn't at it's best. There was just one washing machine that required 3 pound coins and small garments couldn't be washed, and visitors could only use it at limited times.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review I’m glad you found our facilities clean and well looked after.
I will make a note about our washing facilities and see how they can be improved.

Local attractions

Beach or theme park? Theme park or beach? Surfing or sailing or fishing or horse riding or golf – or coastal hikes and countryside bikes? If you want to stick close to base, all are available within 10 miles at the most from Music Water Touring Park, with other attractions and towns like Portreath, St Ives and Tintagel also exceedingly reachable on the north coast.

The Camel Creek Adventure Park jut outside Wadebridge will probably be the first stop for those on holiday with small adventurers to soar on the rides and peer at the meerkats. Also at Wadebridge, the St Eval Kart Circuit is the biggest kids' circuit in the UK and is suitable for ages three to 16 (adults can roar along the track on their own circuit too).

Newquay Zoo and its Blue Reef Aquarium are other popular stops on the ‘kids in Cornwall’ trail, and just outside Newquay farm-mad offspring will milk the day for all it’s worth around the huge indoor play centre, adventure park, critters and maze of award-winning DairyLand Farm World.

Must see
