General

  • Petting corner on site with ponies
  • Easy access to Crealy Great Adventure Park
  • Pool, bar, games room and free hot showers

Ponies! Heaps of things will make your kids’ hearts sing on a stay at long-established and family-run Music Water Touring Park near Padstow in Cornwall, but we’re betting the petting corner on site to nuzzle the noses of snuggly ponies will be any small person’s first melodious stop.

(You can then casually inform them – kids, not ponies – that Music Water is within trotting distance of Crealy Great Adventure Park, and we bet they’ll be singing all through the hol.)

As befits a park with ponies on it, Music Water has a paddock layout for those to prefer to pitch up in a peaceful countryside setting. Kids can canter off to the play area and games room with pool tables, amusement machines and table tennis; for all sizes, the outdoor pool and family-friendly bar will keep the holiday harmonious.

Amenities-wise, guests have access to two shower and loo blocks with free hot water, a launderette, freezer pack service and an on-site post box (to send home jubilant postcards).

Trotting off site, Music Water is a few miles from the coastal walks and sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast of north Cornwall, four miles from Padstow and the Camel Trail, and seven miles from Wadebridge. Newquay – and its zoo – is about eight miles away, and the famed Eden Project about half an hour’s drive.

Buy barbecue bits and essentials at the shop a couple of miles away or at the Tesco in Padstow; diners out have stacks of choice from the quality restaurants and pubs in Padstow, Wadebridge, Newquay and St Merryn.

Please note

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 21/05 and 05/09 (subject to weather conditions).

The bar is open during all school holidays.

Group bookings of five or more under 25 year olds are not accepted via Pitchup.com.

Balance of site fees must be paid on day of arrival by cash or cheque before you pitch. Cards are not accepted on site.

I have just returned from a 1 night quick stay over at music water , just to practice using our new ENORMOUS awning before our long August trip , I stayed here for a week 4 years ago and loved it so at the request of our youngest son we are returning for his birthday in August .
I was greeted at reception by a lovely friendly lady who was extremely polite , she already knew about our August booking before I told her and she actually walked across the site to show me the pitch , after a very hot 3 hours getting the awning up I finally got to walk around the site and all I can say is WOW it's more beautiful than I remember which I didn't think was possible , perfectly kept grass and pitches , pitches are also large with hook up , the swimming pool is perfect for small family's ( my boys went up there 3 times ) bar and games room clean with friendly staff and the toilets were immaculate! This morning before we left my son and I went to see the animals and loved witnessing feeding time , there were very cute chicks and the lady from yesterday ( I wish I knew her name) was happily telling my son all the breeds of the hens and the names of their lovely ponys . I don't think the owners could do anything to better this site , it's absolutely perfect and not too big so still peaceful :) well done guys , can't wait to come back in a couple of weeks!

We loved this site. Very friendly and helpful staff. The facilities were good. Nice hot showers and they were free! The toilets were kept very clean every day. Lovely quiet site. Had an outdoor swimming pool that we didn’t use, only because we got back from our days out too late. Pool was open from 11am until 6pm. The bar was open in the evenings. We were able to watch the football in the bar. The tent pitches were fine. Nice and flat with electric hook up. The sunsets in the evenings were stunning. We had fantastic value for money We were very happy here and cannot wait to go back again. Thanks to all at Music Water for making our holiday great!

Everything about the site. It was reasonably priced for the pitches and the bar. Good sized pitches. Friendly owners/staff. Games room, small outdoor pool and playground for the kids. Really well kept and tidy, plenty of hot water in showers and good water pressure. Clean toilets and showers. Really good location close to Padstow.
Generally one of the best value touring sites we've been to and we hope to go back in the future.

Local attractions

Beach or theme park? Theme park or beach? Surfing or sailing or fishing or horse riding or golf – or coastal hikes and countryside bikes? If you want to stick close to base, all are available within ten miles at the most from Music Water Touring Park, with other attractions and towns like Portreath, St Ives and Tintagel also exceedingly reachable on the north coast.

Cornwall’s Crealy Great Adventure Park at Tredinnick just outside Wadebridge will probably be the first stop for those on holiday with small adventurers to soar on the rides and peer at the meerkats; book online before going to get up to 20% off.

Also at Wadebridge, the St Eval Kart Circuit is the biggest children’s circuit in the UK and is suitable for ages three to 16 (adults can roar along the track on their own circuit too).

Newquay Zoo and its Blue Reef Aquarium are other popular stops on the ‘kids in Cornwall’ trail, and just outside Newquay farm-mad offspring will milk the day for all it’s worth around the huge indoor play centre, adventure park, critters and maze of award-winning DairyLand Farm World.

But to the beaches. Pick a different one every day to sunbathe, stroll, surf, swim or sail at in between the clifftop strolls of the South West Coast Path around Padstow, to Harlyn Bay, Treyarnon Bay, Porthcowan and on to Mawgan Porth.

The long surfing beach at Watergate Bay is less than five miles from Music Water Touring Park and has regular beach events as well as a beach sports and watersports academy to show the less experienced the ropes.

Portreath beach, along the coast to the west, is another sublime surfing beach and has access to the South West Coast Path’s eight-mile walk to Godrevy from its edge.

We also recommend the sands at Padstow and the National Trust-managed Bedruthan Steps; Padstow’s National Lobster Hatchery also makes for a gripping afternoon out and is worth a look if only to hear the kids say ‘Ewww’.
