  • Petting corner on site with ponies
  • Easy access to Camel Creek Adventure Park
  • Pool, bar, games room and free hot showers
Ponies! Heaps of things will make your kids’ hearts sing on a stay at long-established and family-run Music Water Touring Park near Padstow in Cornwall, but you can bet that the petting corner on site to nuzzle the noses of snuggly ponies will be any small person’s first melodious stop. (You can then casually inform them – kids, not ponies – that Music Water is within trotting distance of Camel Creek Adventure Park, and we bet they’ll be singing all through the hol.) As befits a park with ponies on it, Music Water has a paddock layout for those to prefer to pitch up in a peaceful countryside setting. Kids can canter off to the play area and games room with pool tables, amusement machines and table tennis; for all sizes, the outdoor pool and family-friendly bar will keep the holiday harmonious. Amenities-wise, guests have access to two shower and toilet blocks with free hot water, a launderette, freezer pack service and an on-site post box (to send home jubilant postcards). Trotting off site, Music Water is a few miles from the coastal walks and sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast of north Cornwall, four miles from Padstow and the Camel Trail, and seven miles from Wadebridge. Newquay – and its zoo – is about eight miles away, and the famed Eden Project about half an hour’s drive. Buy barbecue bits and essentials at the shop a couple of miles away or at the Tesco in Padstow; diners out have stacks of choice from restaurants and pubs in Padstow, Wadebridge, Newquay and St Merryn.

What customers say

This family-friendly campground gets kudos for its friendly staff, roomy sites, and handy location. Visitors enjoy the clean washrooms, pool, and on-site animals. Some noted dated amenities, cash-only payments, and spotty Wi-Fi. The playground's called basic by a few. Overall, good value for a chill getaway.

Liked Pitch sizes are relatively large,
Showers/toilets were clean
Calm and peaceful atmosphere
Site owners are very friendly and welcoming
Phone signal is very hit or miss, but you can get it enough to make a call if you go to the club bar.
Safe enough for the kids to go play
Site games organised by regular returning guests was really nice to see as everyone joined in.
The pools pretty shallow and fenced off so no worries of unnecessary accidents
Some reviews state the shower blocks/games room are dated- this I agree with BUT they are clean and definitely do the job, the kids all seem to love it here they all just seem to make friends and play together(not an iPad or phone in sight)

It has everything you need for a campsite and the price is very affordable. We did 3 nights and it didn’t feel like enough so we have booked for a week next summer

Disliked Absolutely no reflection on the site but the roads are really tight and narrow if you follow the directions of the sat nav to go exploring what’s around the area. use your maps to avoid the small narrow roads and stick to main A roads where possible all down the side of our van is scratched

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Great location for exploring a beautiful part of Cornwall, Newquay, Bodmin, Padstow, Wadebridge all just a short drive. Site was clean and pitches were spot on. Check out the Camel trail! And lovely pub in Bodmin called the hole in the wall.

Liked Pool was great. Site was nice overall - I’ve mainly focussed on the negatives for useful feedback to owners

Disliked - Toilet block needs updating
- Soap dispensers fitted too high for children under 4ft to use
- short timer push taps for dishwashing area, but no sink plugs or bowls - made washing up a challenge as we didn’t have our own bowl
- the park is significantly worse than the pictures on the website which was disappointing as this was a major factor for us choosing this site. All that is there is a slide and a couple of balance beams. The website had a whole climbing frame etc.
- no card payments
- no hand rails anywhere in toilets for people with lower mobility
- no baby change facilities.

Liked The pitches, and a lovley little pool. Great views, very helpful staff and sweet ponies!

Disliked Cash only was a little stressful and surprising when we arrived.

There were some particularly rowdy teenagers who were left to scrap, shout and play boisterously outside the bar until 10/10.30pm which made it difficult to settle the young children and get them to sleep. Unfortunately we were pitched less than 10m from the bar.

Liked Lovely site, well equipped with hook up points, several water points, two toilet blocks, wet suit sink wash (by the statics)
There is a small park and small outdoor pool. (I gave young children so the park and pool were great for them, could touch the floor in all of the pool)
However may not have been as good for older kids, the slide is very small and no swings etc. however there is a games room for older children.
The site is maintained and clean.

Disliked The site is cash only, which wasn’t communicated to us prior to arriving, because of this we didn’t use the bar.

The toilet block are clean, always had stock of loo roll, handwash etc, but could do with an update - tiles falling off walls and shower taps are press buttons, which need to be pressed around every 20-30 seconds, which is a complete pain with small children.
The toilets also take an age to refill so if you go straight in after someone else, you’d need to wait a while to be able to reflush.

The kids also couldn’t use the toilets independently as the handwash stations are mounted very high.

Overall we really liked the site, it was great for us and the negatives mentioned are only niggles.
We’d definitely consider coming back!!

Liked Very welcoming, polite and helpful we arrived back home yesterday and honestly didn't want to leave we went with 3 teenagers that the only thing they moaned at was having no Internet, which was brilliant cause meant they had to interact 😂. Read on reviews before we came about shower blocks being out dated i thought they were perfectly fine been to much much worse , games room could do with a little update but we enjoyed a game of pool and table tennis. all in all a lovely site well worth a visit.

Local attractions

Beach or theme park? Theme park or beach? Surfing or sailing or fishing or horse riding or golf – or coastal hikes and countryside bikes? If you want to stick close to base, all are available within 10 miles at the most from Music Water Touring Park, with other attractions and towns like Portreath, St Ives and Tintagel also exceedingly reachable on the north coast. The Camel Creek Adventure Park jut outside Wadebridge will probably be the first stop for those on holiday with small adventurers to soar on the rides and peer at the meerkats. Also at Wadebridge, the St Eval Kart Circuit is the biggest kids' circuit in the UK and is suitable for ages three to 16 (adults can roar along the track on their own circuit too). Newquay Zoo and its Blue Reef Aquarium are other popular stops on the ‘kids in Cornwall’ trail, and just outside Newquay farm-mad offspring will milk the day for all it’s worth around the huge indoor play centre, adventure park, critters and maze of award-winning DairyLand Farm World.
