  • Clean, spacious and well-maintained site on a working farm
  • Four miles from Helston with easy access to the Lizard Peninsula
  • Pitches in a lawned meadow bordered by a line of trees
Clean, quiet and in a lovely location on a farm close to the Cornish coast are the boxes firmly ticked for Skyburriowe Farm Campsite, a small and very friendly farm site at Garras on the knockout Lizard Peninsula. Show up here in spring for expanses of bluebells as well as hedgerows filled with common and not so common flowers; in autumn for clifftop walks followed by forays to the local restaurants and pubs (pasties are very warming), and in summer for boat trips, fishing, surfing and looking out for migrating basking sharks and orcas: the nearest beach is only a couple of miles away. The well-spaced site at Skyburriowe Farm Campsite is in a lawned meadow bordered by a line of trees home to a variety of local wildlife, and has wifi, chemical disposal and amenities (toilets and showers, separate family/disabled room, laundry sinks and a utility room with fridge, freezer and sinks) kept to high standards by owners Vivian and Brenda. Barbecues are allowed on site, and a food shop, pub and restaurant are within a couple of miles.

What customers say

This is a consistently well-reviewed, peaceful, and clean campsite situated on a working dairy farm, ideal for exploring Cornwall. Visitors highlight the generous, level pitches, immaculately maintained toilet and shower facilities with ample hot water, and the friendly, helpful owners. While some found the Wi-Fi unreliable, most appreciated the quiet, natural surroundings and proximity to beaches and attractions. The availability of local produce for sale is also a popular feature.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Peaceful, showers and toilets well looked after and thoroughly cleaned throughout the day, darks skies at night which are great for star gazing, small site. We hardly had anyone staying while we were there, which is a shame for the owner because it’s a fantastic site and I would highly recommend it. Close to lots of attractions and beautiful bays. Pitches are a good size and everyone is so clean! They even have a fridge and freezer, plus inside and out washing up facilities.

Disliked Nothing!

Electric grass pitch

Liked Pretty much everything, spacious, clean, friendly, plenty of wildlife to see and hear, it's on a working farm so you get the sounds of the cows and the odd cockerel too, great little honesty boxes for fruits, vegetables and preserves, the amendments were very clean and looked after.. overalls the site was very welcoming and just what we were looking for, somewhere peaceful to stay that we could venture out and explore Cornwall from.

Liked A great site that's a brilliant location. A lovely quiet campsite that is really well maintained. The shower and kitchen block is kept clean and the hot water is available all hours of the day.

Disliked Bring a fly swat, the campsite is by a farm so the flies are busy.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Really peaceful beautiful location. Met by Vivian who was friendly and showed us our pitch. Great facilities, clean and tidy. Lovely hot showers. Utility room with hot sinks and fridge/freezer. Large pitches which were well spaced out. Has everything you need. Even some homegrown and homemade vegetables/jams/etc for sale for a small price. Would 100% come back.
(Even has a disability toilet/shower block)

Local attractions

To the beach first – this is the Lizard Peninsula after all, and highly scenic sands and cliffs are within easy reach including the very special Kennack Sands four and a half miles from base. The Lizard is the most popular part of the South West Coast Path and you should hike at least some of it while you're in the region, to see rare plants, coastal birds, and possible marine mammals in the water below. From Helston, hikers can ramble the ten miles to Falmouth via the Helford River, Pendennis Castle and fab River Fal views. Plenty of popular Cornish attractions are easy to get to from Skyburriowe Farm, like the Cornish Seal Sanctuary at Gweek, the National Maritime Museum at Falmouth and the swish Tate gallery at swish arty town St Ives. The Eden Project near St Austell is about an hour's drive to the north east. Also near St Austell, the Lost Gardens of Heligan are a splendidly different day out; greenery fans who don't want to drive too far can also mosey around Trebah and Glendurgan gardens, both near Falmouth, or the National Trust's Trengwainton Gardens at Penzance about half an hour's drive from Helston.
