General

  • Near Kennack Sands on the Lizard Peninsula
  • Campfires allowed; kindling and logs for sale
  • Bar on site with beer garden

'I’m free, to do what I want, any old time…' Free spirits will enjoy Namparra Campsite, near Kennack Sands on Cornwall’s Lizard Peninsula: visitors are at liberty to light their own campfire and can pick their perfect spot within the lush six-acre camping meadow to get the best of the gorgeous sea views. Fellow residents include alpacas, sheep and pigs, plus a flock of ducks and chickens whose eggs can be bought in the site shop.

With the Riptide Bar and Grill just a short stroll away, guests can also freely sample the local cider and homemade cocktails over a game of pool, without any arguments about who's the designated driver. The bar also has regular entertainment and a beer garden (plus bacon baps available from the shop/reception area the morning after…)

Four unisex wetrooms (with toilet, sink and shower) are on hand for all guests to use, with an additional new toilet block housing an extra four toilets just for the ladies. There’s also a sheltered washing-up area and a small laundry room. You can get kindling and logs for your campfire on site, or dig your own firepit. In-ground trampolines have been set up so that kids have a safe space to bounce away from any such proceedings.

Please note

Protective masks must be worn at all times in common areas.

Nothing for us, but if you want good internet/4g, you won't get it here. Didn't bother us at all as we don't need to use it much when camping.

This was Our first time staying at the site I would highly recommend it tho. We went at the end of the summer holiday when everyone was winding down, it was still an enjoyable experience theres public footpaths to explore which leads you down to the coast and a lovely beach . The pub looks welcoming and clean . Looking forward to returning next year .

Plenty of open space to pitch your tent, no limit on pitch space. Fire pits are allowed and logs as reasonably priced, relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed being able to pop up to the bar for a drink. The little on site reception/shop was handy for last minute supplies (we couldn't get skewers for marshmallows in town but they had them there) also daily milk. Great location for popping to Lizard/Helston/Kynance/Kennack Sands but far enough away from the hustle of bustly of busier areas.

Reluctant to write too much of a good review as want to make sure there is space for next time we come! Showers were great, hot good water pressure. One had a baby changing which was really useful. Hookup worked really well and pitch was very level. We had an amazing time. Bargain price for a really great campsite in a stunning part of Cornwall! We will be coming back.

Very relaxed atmosphere, basic, clean and quirky Amenities. Although play area basic was good to have indoor option of the pool table. Saturday Night Blues band were great.

    Disliked:

Pizzas a little pricey once you added toppings but great service and lovely staff. Arrival a little disorganised which was frustrating being sent to the bar from reception and back again only to be told pitch up anywhere - caused half an hour delay and meant we caught the only rain shower of the day. Not to worry we had a lovely time, although not all pitches were level there was plenty of space as not overcrowded at all.

    Staff are helpful and friendly.
I liked the shower hut idea. It made life easier showering the Children all in one hut. Rather then queuing for a cubicle in a block. Toilets were also clean and topped up with toilet rolls.
The washing up and laundry hut is also a good idea. Hot water for those stubborn dishes.

Local attractions

About 20 minutes’ walk from Namparra Campsite you’ll find Kennack Sands, a fantastic family beach with a great café; a similar walk in the other direction takes you through a picturesque valley to Poltesco, a hidden cove with a pebbly beach and the photogenic ruins of an old serpentine works, and the Lizard Point with its iconic lighthouse.

This part of Cornwall is peppered with enchanting fishing villages, including nearby Cadgwith: if you’re lucky enough to be here on a Friday night (known in these parts as Saint Inebriatus’ Eve!), you can join the renowned Cadgwith Singers for a singalong of sea shanties in the local pub.

There are loads of good days out for the family, too: the seal sanctuary at Gweek, Cornish Camels for tractor rides, a giant sandpit and lots of animals, including, of course, camels, the Flambards Experience theme park;,and the Poldark Mine, for a glimpse into the life of a tin miner and a wide range of fun activities including gold panning, candle dipping and pottery throwing.
