  • Campfires allowed; kindling and logs for sale
  • Bar on site with beer garden
'I’m free, to do what I want, any old time…' Free spirits will enjoy Namparra Campsite, near Kennack Sands on Cornwall’s Lizard Peninsula: visitors are at liberty to light their own campfire and can pick their perfect spot within the lush six-acre camping meadow to get the best of the gorgeous sea views. Fellow residents include alpacas, sheep and pigs, plus a flock of ducks and chickens whose eggs can be bought in the site shop. With the Riptide Bar and Grill just a short stroll away, guests can also freely sample the local cider and homemade cocktails over a game of pool, without any arguments about who's the designated driver. The bar also has regular entertainment and a beer garden (plus bacon baps available from the shop/reception area the morning after…) Four unisex wetrooms (with toilet, sink and shower) are on hand for all guests to use, with an additional new toilet block housing an extra four toilets just for the ladies. There’s also a sheltered washing-up area and a small laundry room. You can get kindling and logs for your campfire on site, or dig your own firepit. In-ground trampolines have been set up so that kids have a safe space to bounce away from any such proceedings.

Liked: Getting followed by a curious alpaca at the entrance. Friendly staff Budget friendly Cheap and cheerful

Disliked: You do get what you pay for in this campsite Unhygienic bathrooms and showers. If guests treat the facilities with respect I don’t think this would be so much of an issue. security was questionable due to some “residents” decided to break through the trees like Jason from Friday the 13th. This Was a good touch, but won’t recommend for future bookings. as we had children with us. All in all you get what you pay for. If you expect the holiday inn standard for under £80 a week then you looking at the wrong site

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Absolutely loved the location! The animals were a bonus, loved feeding them and really enjoying the peace and quiet on the field. The local pub was 10 mins walk and a lovely Thai was available which we really enjoyed and can be eaten in the pub. Loved the coastal walks and really enjoyed being able to relax. Hot showers and toilets were fab, we will be returning. Thank you

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Cheap and convenient. Farm animals and small play area. Friendly staff. Very cheap and only a 10min walk to the beach. Don't expect 5 star because your not paying for five star. It had everything we needed: grass to pitch a tent on and toilets/ water. Perfect 😃

Disliked: I could find any lights in the toilet block.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Nothing, it cost us £28 as we had two dogs with us, we drove in turned round and drove straight back out! Be warned it looks nothing like the photos! An absolute mess, and by the way… we are not snobby campers!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: I wish you had explained in what way it's an 'absolute mess',was it because the grass hadn't been cut? We grow the grass for hay but cut the perimeter for camping on(which has now been done),then it will be cut and bailed in July. All the photos are genuine ,mostly put up by campers. It will never be a pristine site as it is a farm site,

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Liked the view was stunning. The field wasn’t too wet and the facility’s were good.

Disliked: The geese attacked me even if I was sat at my tent I shared the field with the farm yard animals. Granted we went at the start of the season but expected the geese to be put away at night but they wasn’t and went through my bin and washing up at 2am with woke us all up.

From the manager: We are so sorry about the geese, our problem is they are nesting and chose to make their nests by the bar,as soon as they have hatched they will be going in the animal field out of the way. We are so pleased that you liked everything else and thankyou for your review.

Local attractions

About 20 minutes’ walk from Namparra Campsite you’ll find Kennack Sands, a fantastic family beach with a great café; a similar walk in the other direction takes you through a picturesque valley to Poltesco, a hidden cove with a pebbly beach and the photogenic ruins of an old serpentine works, and the Lizard Point with its iconic lighthouse. This part of Cornwall is peppered with enchanting fishing villages, including nearby Cadgwith: if you’re lucky enough to be here on a Friday night (known in these parts as Saint Inebriatus’ Eve!), you can join the renowned Cadgwith Singers for a singalong of sea shanties in the local pub. There are loads of good days out for the family, too: the seal sanctuary at Gweek, Cornish Camels for tractor rides, a giant sandpit and lots of animals, including, of course, camels, the Flambards Experience theme park;,and the Poldark Mine, for a glimpse into the life of a tin miner and a wide range of fun activities including gold panning, candle dipping and pottery throwing.
