What customers say

This well-maintained campsite offers stunning sea views and is a short walk to the beach. Guests praise the friendly and helpful staff, as well as the generally clean and well-equipped facilities, including showers and toilets. While some found pitches sloped, the overall experience is highly positive, with many recommending it for a peaceful, family-friendly holiday. Minor points of feedback include the 50p shower charge and occasional issues with Wi-Fi.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked Lovely camp site, shop has a wide variety of items! Liked the idea of the pizza place next door ( we didn’t order but it was great to know if we wanted one ) staff were all very friendly, toliet blocks were always very well clean.
Free WiFi also, although was hit and miss with it but then having over 60 pitches I wouldn’t expect any thing else!
Beach just a short walk (10/15mins) away!
Would definitely recommend. We will be back!

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked This was our second year visiting here. We loved our stay. Generously sized pitches. Love that we can get freshly made pizzas and cookie dough on site which is always a hit with the kids. The shop and facilities come in handy too especially with having kids. The added bonus with this site is the onsite play park too.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked The bathroom facilities were so clean. The person in charge was good and gided us so well.

Disliked The shower had no waste bins. The hot water tap was very hard to press, and our clothes got wet while trying to use it. The pitch area was too crowded. We were expecting a quieter place with fewer people and a more nature-friendly setting. The WIFI was very weak.

From the manager: Thank you for your recent visit

Mmm not sure "Clean toilets", "clean showers", "Great location", "Excellent customer service", "excellent cleanliness" gets a 3/10 for a couple of minor issues and situations out of our control really

At Chycarne we have three separate toilet and shower blocks all within a minutes walk from each other. All facilities do have waste bins situated within the blocks but not within the showers or toilets themselves. All taps are non concussive taps. These taps require to be pressed down in order to work. There are 40 or so taps within all the blocks. Never ever been made aware that any tap can not be pressed down or is difficult but if it was, then maintenance would investigate and rectify if there was any type of fault.

At Chycarne we have 130 pitches all a minimum of 10 x 8 metres, contained within a 14 acre site. Plenty of space generally for all, unfortunately for you its the summer season school holiday break and August bank holiday weekend and most all sites generally are busy especially in Cornwall and we are no exception

Its not recommended to go camping during this period and at this time if you want less people and much quieter site of course that is your choice but my recommendation is to select a time out of this period much like today, much quieter and plenty of space, much more nature friendly setting. Chycarne is generally a quiet site outside the main school holidays. a excellent time to visit

Wifi can vary depending on what and our its being used. Too much streaming can cause the Wifi to slow. We make no charge for Wifi and remains complimentary to the users

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked Clean facilities, nicely maintained, beautifully located. Very helpful staff.
It had everything you needed.
Loved the farm animals sounds in the morning.

Disliked Payable showers - bring plenty of coins. £0.50 per 5 minutes. Assumed these would be free, but understand the logic.

Local attractions

The clean, safe and award-winning Kennack Sands (with lifeguards on duty during the summer months) is a 10-minute walk from Chy Carne, and has shops and cafés as well as a dog-friendly stretch on one side: hum the theme from Jaws as you spot a basking shark, or clamber up the coastal path for scenic walks in both directions. A short drive away is Kynance Cove, which is one of the most photographed spots in Cornwall: fool folk that you’re in the Med by snapping a pic here or at postcard-perfect Mullion Cove on a sunny day. The Site of Special Scientific Interest Goonhilly Downs is on the doorstep, best known for its Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station, once the biggest in the world and still with satellite dishes that can be seen for miles: the building of a new space science centre on the site was announced in 2011. Let the kids loose too at the Lizard Point Lighthouse, the last manned lighthouse before automation and now with a heritage centre with exhibits, displays and some of the original engines, or take them to drool over the dromedaries at Cornish Camels. As it’s Cornwall, holidaymakers of an amphibious disposition will be in heaven with top sailing, surfing, scuba diving and other watersports along this stretch of Cornish coast, and several surf and scuba schools in the area for both newbies and water experts. Landlubbers will find plenty to do too: horse riding, bird (and shark) spotting, golf, fishing, clay pigeon shooting and more are all within reach. Day trips include squawking at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary at Gweek, flying at the thrill rides of The Flambards Experience and Crealy Great Adventure Park, or browsing around the towns of Falmouth, St Ives, Penzance and Truro for seafood, shopping, more beautiful beaches and a boat ride to the ancient harbour at Marizion’s St Michael’s Mount. Finally, round off your trip with an afternoon or evening at Penzance’s clifftop open-air Minack Theatre – squint a little bit at the amphitheatre and you could almost imagine you’re in Roman Britain…
