If your holiday checklist includes gorgeous Cornish sea views, quick access to golden beaches and so much to do for mini campers that you can fine the kids if anyone dares utter the phrase ‘I’m bored’, seasidey Chy Carne Holiday Park should tick all boxes for your break. This is a relaxed, spacious and spankingly clean site with a strong family focus, dog-friendly and close to acclaimed beaches like Kennack Sands (10 minutes' walk) as well as many of the main attractions and towns of Cornwall. Helston, Falmouth and St Austell are all within easy reach, and spectacular Kynance Cove is five minutes' drive away. The kids can go 'Aaaarrr' and clamber around the play pirate ship, get competitive at the outdoor games or kick a ball around the grassy open space, while the bigger folk can sit back and prepare the barbecue, have a campfire on one of the Chy Carne chimeneas or fire baskets, or sit back with a snack or drink from the licensed shop (opening times and stock limited out of season). There’s a pizza takeaway on site too (open during the May half term and school summer holidays only, until 9pm), so you can polish off a pepperoni if you don't feel like cooking. The first-class facilities here have plenty of hot showers (extra charge applies), toilets, washbasins and washing-up sinks (four, to be exact) so queues are unlikely even in peak season. The main amenity block is open at all times, with two more opening up to cope with extra demand in high season (May half term and school summer holidays). There’s a launderette on site too with two commercial washing machines and two driers. Chy Carne welcomes well-behaved pets.

Do gerente: Thank you for your recent visit we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay Chycarne camping is made up of a number of different areas depending on your preference At Chycarne we do have well in excess of 60 level pitches situated through out the campsite. The remaining pitches do have a gentle slope. Too many this is not a issue and certainly helps with drainage The natural topography of the land when you so close to the beach side tends to be sloping towards the sea especially in Cornwall. This is what makes the scenery at Chycarne so breathtaking this is why 76% of pitchup.com visitors say that Chycarne is in a place of outstanding natural beauty with breathtaking scenery. Chycarne

Não gostou: You have to pay for showers, this was not advertised at booking and on our second night the showers were freezing cold for the duration of the paid time, on average the showers take at least a minute to warm up wasting your money, if you expect people to pay for the showers then they should be hot from the start. Also all the pitches seem to be on a slope which isn’t great for a campsite

Do gerente: Thank you for your recent visit. We note your comments regarding the showers. At Chycarne we offer exceptional value for money. The showers are clearly advertised that a small charge is levied for the use of the showers This clearly is advertised on Pitchup.com this helps to prevent overstay in the showers.Reducing the amount of waste water that as to be cleaned prior to discharge We do not advertise free showers as no showers are free to the business but an allowance is made in the camping prices to reflect this small charge. In order to be more far more eco friendly the old style water heaters have been phased out and all water heaters we work on are new efficient water heaters saving huge energy costs. Yes there can be a short time ( a few seconds ) before the water is heated to the required temperature 42c however this generally is not the case when the showers are in use for sustained periods. However the showers would warm up and never remain cold for the whole duration of the shower unless there was a fault. We are not aware of any fault being reported regarding the showers during your stay. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay Chycarne

Gostou: Everything staff was very helpful, the site was very clean. The shower and toilet block was well looked after. My pitch was perfect for me and my 2 little dogs. Would definitely return and recommend to friends and family.

Gostou: Campsite was quiet and spacious with a marvellous view of the sea. The site was very well maintained. Bathrooms were very clean and shower was very powerful and warm. I liked listening to Radio 2 in the bathroom and they were well lit at night. Loved being able to walk to Kennack sands from the campsite. Really good value for money! I’ve already looked at staying again.

Não gostou: Because it was quiet the shop wasn’t open so make sure you have all the supplies you need. I did so it wasn’t a problem.

Atrações locais

The clean, safe and award-winning Kennack Sands (with lifeguards on duty during the summer months) is a 10-minute walk from Chy Carne, and has shops and cafés as well as a dog-friendly stretch on one side: hum the theme from Jaws as you spot a basking shark, or clamber up the coastal path for scenic walks in both directions. A short drive away is Kynance Cove, which is one of the most photographed spots in Cornwall: fool folk that you’re in the Med by snapping a pic here or at postcard-perfect Mullion Cove on a sunny day. The Site of Special Scientific Interest Goonhilly Downs is on the doorstep, best known for its Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station, once the biggest in the world and still with satellite dishes that can be seen for miles: the building of a new space science centre on the site was announced in 2011. Let the kids loose too at the Lizard Point Lighthouse, the last manned lighthouse before automation and now with a heritage centre with exhibits, displays and some of the original engines, or take them to drool over the dromedaries at Cornish Camels. As it’s Cornwall, holidaymakers of an amphibious disposition will be in heaven with top sailing, surfing, scuba diving and other watersports along this stretch of Cornish coast, and several surf and scuba schools in the area for both newbies and water experts. Landlubbers will find plenty to do too: horse riding, bird (and shark) spotting, golf, fishing, clay pigeon shooting and more are all within reach. Day trips include squawking at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary at Gweek, flying at the thrill rides of The Flambards Experience and Crealy Great Adventure Park, or browsing around the towns of Falmouth, St Ives, Penzance and Truro for seafood, shopping, more beautiful beaches and a boat ride to the ancient harbour at Marizion’s St Michael’s Mount. Finally, round off your trip with an afternoon or evening at Penzance’s clifftop open-air Minack Theatre – squint a little bit at the amphitheatre and you could almost imagine you’re in Roman Britain…
