Got your heart set on Fowey as a place to stay? It’s an excellent choice – this cute little town is a real highlight of Cornwall, with a real sense of heritage as well as some gorgeous sea views. Keeping things very simple for a stay here is Lambs Barn Camping Ground, a wild camping site in a wooded valley on the edge of town, about a kilometre from the village centre. From here you'll also be able to walk along a footpath through the woods down to Readymoney beach, a sheltered sandy cove that’s fabulous for a dip in the sea. Longer walks might take you out onto the South West Coast Path, which runs along the entirety of Cornwall’s coastline, and there’s a bus stop just outside the site for longer jaunts around the county. This site is billed as having wild camping – and that’s almost true, as you’ll be settling down in nature-filled grass meadows for a real sense of countryside calm. There are, however, a few conveniences to make your stay a little more comfortable, including a water supply, gas-powered showers and portable toilets. Laundry facilities are close by if you need them. Down in Fowey you should find plenty to entertain yourselves, including watersports centres (with kayak and paddleboard hire) and riverside walks, plus shops, pubs and places to eat. There’s also a ferry service across the bay to Mevagissey (a route that’s well known for dolphin-spotting opportunities).

What customers say

This is a basic, "pop-up" campsite with a fantastic location, offering easy walks to Fowey town and Readymoney Beach. Visitors praise the friendly and helpful owner, the peaceful atmosphere, and the spacious pitches. Facilities are generally described as basic but functional, with the outdoor shower receiving mixed reviews. Some guests noted the sloping nature of the field and a lack of on-site bins. Recent reviews from 2025 onwards indicate improvements, including a new toilet block.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Can't be beaten for location, 10 min walk to Readymoney Cove or into Fowey, but the site was so quiet, despite being a peak summer weekend.

Disliked Could do with more washroom/toilet facilities, but understand this is a pop-up site and most people bring their own.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely site , peaceful and lots of space . Great walks to the beach and in to Fowey .

Disliked The toilets and shower are not brilliant . 3 toilets and only 2 sinks . If someone is having a shave etc at the sink you can’t wash your hands after going to toilet . The shower well what can I say it’s warm water you need to wear swimming clothes to shower as there is no privacy and there is only one shower .

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Location - 5/10 min walk to Co-op, 15 min to the beach and 20 min to the town centre
Facilities - shower, toilet block, charging points for devices

John is a great host; knowledgeable, checking in and saying hello and always on hand if needed.

The wood is a welcomed addition, allowing the children to explore whilst us adults take the opportunity to relax.

Disliked The only improvement I can think of is a facility to dispose of rubbish - I understand the reasoning and not a major issue.

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Location was amazing. I discovered the cove on my first night and was blown away. I loved the walk through the corn fields. Shower was basic but good enough, with warm water.

Disliked Nothing except there are a lot of walkers that cut through the campsite.

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Friendly owner. Lovely big area close to Coop shop and bus stop outside. Great location for walking into Fowey.

Disliked No phone signal on EE, had to go to the entrance to get signal.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you Trix for your lovely review, yes our phone signal here is a little ‘ hit and miss’, a lot depends on your network, messaging seems to work better!

From the manager: Good morning campers

I am sorry to hear that you were not impressed with our field / grass. It is a very dry year as you must have known and our grass is used for feeding our dairy herd, it is mostly rye grass which grows quickly and stays green!
We clearly state we are a Farm and a 60 day 'pop up' we charge a small fee per pitch for a central coastal town position, no need to drive anywhere once on our great site, garage and Coop to the north and beach, coastal walk and town to the south. I believe you may have miss read our details and hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in lovely Cornwall.
