Surrounded by gorgeous South Downs National Park countryside, River Street Camping is a family-friendly pop-up site that delivers a rural experience without feeling too remote. Set within a peaceful meadow bordered by mature trees and hedgerows, it’s all about spacious pitches, open skies and birdsong for anyone looking to slow down and enjoy being outdoors. However, you can step straight from your pitch onto footpaths and bridleways leading into the national park, or take a leisurely stroll into Westbourne village (five minutes’ walk), home to traditional thatched houses, pubs and shops selling everyday essentials. And just across the quiet lane from the site, a shallow stream provides a shaded spot for supervised paddling and splashing on warm summer days. Quality facilities are housed in a converted horse box, with hot running water and power showers available. Have a barbecue or gather around a firepit (these can be hired from the site), and when you don't quite feel like cooking, head to one of the several welcoming hostelries within easy walking distance of the pitches.

Liked We were camping later in the season and had the tent pitch area to ourselves - fabulous. Very kind and accommodating owner who helped us with our flat car battery.

Liked The communication was excellent, very clear and precise. Access was via a combination padlock the host sent this number via WhatsApp.
The facilities were superb, clean lavatories and the showers were better than ours at home!
It is off the beaten track so very much with nature but close enough to wander to the local hostelries.

Liked The owners came over and greeted us, pitch numbers are clearly labelled. Was nice as only 4 other families camping so had plenty of space. Despite the bank holiday weather not being on our side it was a lovely stay. The horse box conversation was very clean and tidy and motorhomes were separate to the campers. Unfortunately wasn’t able to experience campfire due to the heat wave we had had. But overall a lovely peaceful safe and secure campsite. Would recommend using what 3 words to find location as managed to find it first time using that app rather than other map apps.

Disliked We wish we could of stayed longer 😜

Liked Amazing pop up site in a wonder location local village shops , pubs & restaurants all within 5 minute stroll, good choice of pitch types all reasonably priced. The Horse Box Facility Block Will Blow You Away. The proprietor has put a lot of thought & detailing into this, as appearance is so conducive to its surroundings but offers 5 Star experience with its Showers , Basins & Toilets, Absolutely Spotlessly Clean & Serviced,adequate outdoor potwash sink. Several porta loos conveniently located around paddock. The Proprietor & The Site Are A Credit To The Pursuit. We will definitely return.

You can easily spend days and weeks walking or cycling the stunning chalk downs landscapes of the South Downs National Park, which is directly accessed from the site. National Trust - East Head (40 minutes’ drive) is another scenic spot, with miles of dog-friendly dune walks along its sandy spit. As well as forays into the national park, River Street is well placed for exploring some of the South Coast’s most popular destinations. The sailing town of Emsworth is just 10 minutes’ drive, while West Wittering’s sandy family beach (half an hour) has lots of facilities for watersports. You can also have a wander around the lively marina at postcard-perfect Bosham (15 minutes). Kids with you? There’s a soft-play centre and petting zoo at Staunton Farm (10 minutes), and mini train rides as well as Big Five animals and penguins at Marwell Zoo (45 minutes). You can also keep them entertained with vintage car races at Goodwood Estate (20 minutes), and most older children will appreciate the ornate floor mosaics at Fishbourne Roman Palace (15 minutes).
