Play park

  • Well-equipped site close to the station and pubs in Fishbourne
  • Chichester and Goodwood Estate 10 minutes' drive; beaches 15 mins away
  • Play park, tennis courts, BMX track and bar on site with live music
When it comes to a handy location for a West Sussex break, this place is surely up there with the best of them. The Fishbourne Centre is housed in a splendidly convenient spot in Fishbourne, within 10 minutes’ walk of the village’s train station, supermarket and pubs as well as the famed Fishbourne Roman Palace. As well as all the handy facilities within walking distance, it’s only a little way further to all sorts of ways to fill your days out, including the Goodwood Estate, Chichester city centre and the open spaces of the Chichester Harbour National Landscape. South coast beaches like West Wittering and Bracklesham Bay are within 15 minutes’ drive as well, so you’ll have plenty of choice for things to do… And that’s before you’ve even taken a look at the facilities right there on site – without even needing to stray beyond the gates you’ll have access to a play park, tennis courts and a BMX track (for under-12s) to keep everyone nicely active for a while on site. When it’s time to bring the day’s activities to a close you may well be pleased to hear that the centre’s bar is open from 5pm daily for drinks indoors or out on the deck; it’s also got pool tables, or you can settle down to enjoy one of the regular live music events or watch some sport on TV. Along with all this, the spacious grass pitches have access to toilets, showers, a washing-up area and a wifi service. You’ll be allowed to set up a barbecue for your dinner, and dogs are permitted on site too.

What customers say

This campsite is praised for its excellent location, particularly for Goodwood events, and its friendly, helpful staff who are consistently described as a highlight. Families appreciate the on-site playgrounds and open spaces for children. While pitches are generally level and spacious, feedback indicates that toilet and shower facilities, though clean, are basic and could benefit from an upgrade. Some guests mention noise from nearby train lines and roads.

Liked Great small, family site.
Two playgrounds that the kids couldn’t leave alone.
Basket/Football court and loads of outdoor space to play and run around in.
Great location for Chichester, Witterings, Bognor and beyond with shops a quick drive up the road too.
Check-in was quick/easy and Steven (+family) was lovely.
Loved getting an email to say check-in could be whenever (not 3pm as thought) and could take our time checking out on last day too so no packing the damp morning tent up which was really great.
Bar on site did its job and the kids loved their hot chocolate in the morning!

Disliked The toilets and showers did their job. Just need a good clean and updating. However have stayed in more expensive campsites that had a lot worse so not really a dislike at all!

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Stayed one night as a base for days out in the area. Great little place for what we needed. Toilets and showers, club house and parking with CCTV. Park and outdoor gym were well used by my son. Steven and family were friendly and approachable. Nice and quiet at bedtime, popular with families.

Disliked Not dislikes as such, but just to mention there is noise from local traffic and the train line near to the site, as stated in other reviews.

The shower/ toilet block and washing up area could be made really nice but were functional and did the job.

The site is next to a road and public footpath so quite ‘open’ compared to other campsites I’ve been to and not secure. This wasn’t an issue for us but might be for some with younger children.

Liked The kids loved that there was a park on site, theres a club house for adult refreshments overlooking a large field perfect for outdoor games and sunset picnics! The club house even had an indoor bouncy castle on our only rainy morning which was very helpful for entertaining the kiddies.

Liked For a pop up campsite it’s really good. Has all the basic facilities that you need clean showers and toilets fresh drinking water and a place to wash up.
Steve and Sue are absolutely amazing. They are on site 247 so if you need anything they will help you with whatever you need. Such lovely people too.!
The onsite bar and club house is really good drinks are cheap and they have pool tables and one for the kids.! There’s a little bike dirt track out the back which my little ones loved. They were in that park till about 9pm every night.!

Disliked Not much I disliked at all.
It’s in a field and on a hot day there is not much shade but it’s what you expect on a field.

Liked Everything! Facilities was clean and checked on regularly. The shower was lovely just right temperature. On site park the children was a massive hit with my little girl plenty of equipment. Also the was an onsite cafe and pub with great staff and a massive variety of beer to choose from behind the bar. The man and women who run the camping reception was very helpful and was on site all the time for help. Had a lovely chat with her whilst i sat in shade while my daughter played. We stayed at the site due to my partner going to an event at goodwood this site was close enough to the event if anybody is looking for future events. We also watched the england match in the pub kids was aloud and a lovely gesture they provided snacks at half time.

Disliked Nothing to dislike! The drive for us was 4 hours our choice i wish the campsite was closer to us as we would visit more :)

Local attractions

If you only visit one local attraction, surely it has to be Fishbourne Roman Palace – it’s only 10 minutes’ walk away, and it’s got gorgeous gardens as well as the country’s largest collection of mosaics. For a bit more history, head into the centre of Chichester (10 minutes’ drive/public transport) to see the cathedral, or explore the Weald & Downland Living Museum (15 minutes’ drive). There’s often a slightly different vintage vibe at the Goodwood Estate (10 minutes) – this is a handy place to stay if you’re heading to events like the Festival of Speed or Goodwood Revival. If you prefer to keep things a bit more natural, perhaps you’d like to head out into the Chichester Harbour National Landscape for walks and watersports, wander through West Dean Gardens (15 minutes) or learn all about how the grapes grow at Tinwood Estate (15 minutes), which has vineyard tours, tastings and afternoon teas.
