  • Well-equipped site close to the station and pubs in Fishbourne
  • Chichester and Goodwood Estate 10 minutes' drive; beaches 15 mins away
  • Play park, tennis courts, BMX track and bar on site with live music
When it comes to a handy location for a West Sussex break, this place is surely up there with the best of them. The Fishbourne Centre is housed in a splendidly convenient spot in Fishbourne, within 10 minutes’ walk of the village’s train station, supermarket and pubs as well as the famed Fishbourne Roman Palace. As well as all the handy facilities within walking distance, it’s only a little way further to all sorts of ways to fill your days out, including the Goodwood Estate, Chichester city centre and the open spaces of the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. South coast beaches like West Wittering and Bracklesham Bay are within 15 minutes’ drive as well, so you’ll have plenty of choice for things to do… And that’s before you’ve even taken a look at the facilities right there on site – without even needing to stray beyond the gates you’ll have access to a play park, tennis courts and a BMX track (for under-12s) to keep everyone nicely active for a while on site. When it’s time to bring the day’s activities to a close you may well be pleased to hear that the centre’s bar is open from 5pm daily for drinks indoors or out on the deck; it’s also got pool tables, or you can settle down to enjoy one of the regular live music events or watch some sport on TV. Along with all this, the spacious grass pitches have access to toilets, showers, a washing-up area and a wifi service. You’ll be allowed to set up a barbecue for your dinner, and dogs are permitted on site too.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Fabulous site with extremely friendly and helpful staff . We were greeted by the manager on arrival having arrived a little early. We were then given permission to pop the tent up early allowing us to make full use of the day. Thank you . A brilliant stay . Good facilities , good bar , great location. 👍

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Friendly staff.

Disliked: Small field, crammed in. Next to a road, noisy throughout the night. One toilet per sex, all have to share. The facilities they say they have such as tennis, bowls etc you can't use unless a member. Park is fine.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Location for travel on the buses and trains. Friendly staff.

Disliked: Toilet facilities were not great. Reminded us of being back at school and the changing rooms. Only 1 Toilet per sex in the main block. Not really good sinks to wash at.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Don't get me wrong, when we turned up and my heart sank as its a very small site... HOWEVER, turns out it was perfect. Could see the children at all times from.our tent at one of the two parks. Short walk to train station and pub Basket ball court and football field Onsite little bar Coffee van turned up on Sunday Deliveroo delivered (as did dominoes) Hot shower amd nice flushing loo Plugs in the changing area

Disliked: Changing area at the showers could do with a little revamp but really, it's a small site so I'm reaching for something to put here.

Liked: Lovely site, clean, very friendly site, nice park and outdoor gym as well as other facilities. The staff offered to mop out tents after a bad rainstorm, very nice of them.

Disliked: The bar could serve food, but not really a major issue.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Liked being able to pitch up in our own choice of pitch. Small quiet site with friendly bar. We tried both local pubs for food and drink, enjoyed our meals in both. Close to Chichester, the harbour and wittering beaches.

Disliked: Not keen on the communal nature of the shower rooms or push button showers but not really a huge problem.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: We loved this place! Such a nice friendly welcome from Barbara and Kevin. The toilets/shower are kept really clean. If you are bringing a dog there is a field just the other side of the pitches which is very useful. It was our first time using our new tent and we’re so pleased we chose here! Will book as soon as we can for 2024.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Staff were so kind and helpful. Facilities were clean. Pitches were in good condition, it rained a lot and didn't get water logged at all. Great play facilities.

Disliked: Would have liked a slightly sheltered washing up area. Option to recharge freezer blocks would be really helpful too. I would have appreciated a bigger barrier between the field and the road so I could relax a little more about my toddler playing.

Local attractions

If you only visit one local attraction, surely it has to be Fishbourne Roman Palace – it’s only 10 minutes’ walk away, and it’s got gorgeous gardens as well as the country’s largest collection of mosaics. For a bit more history, head into the centre of Chichester (10 minutes’ drive/public transport) to see the cathedral, or explore the Weald & Downland Living Museum (15 minutes’ drive). There’s often a slightly different vintage vibe at the Goodwood Estate (10 minutes) – this is a handy place to stay if you’re heading to events like the Festival of Speed or Goodwood Revival. If you prefer to keep things a bit more natural, perhaps you’d like to head out into the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for walks and watersports, wander through West Dean Gardens (15 minutes) or learn all about how the grapes grow at Tinwood Estate (15 minutes), which has vineyard tours, tastings and afternoon teas.
