Stone Pit Meadows: Aerial shot of Stone Pit Meadows showing the Bell Tents and the surrounding scenery

General

  • Peaceful wildlife haven on a farm site in the Kent countryside
  • An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; 35 minutes' drive to the coast
  • Woodlands and vineyards on-site; firepits; footpath through site

Look out over ancient woodlands and vineyards and walk among the six-acre wildflower meadow at Stone Pit Meadows. A wildlife haven in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this spacious site is a little (or large) slice of relaxation on a 45-acre farm in Kent.

Go a little alfresco and cook up a meal on the firepits on site and fully kick back and unwind with outdoor seating. With toilets and showers on site, you’ll feel pretty fresh and ready to set out on foot over the local country lanes and public footpaths (one running directly through the site). Or you can simply stick to the designated routes on site, through meadows and woodlands or around the vines.

With the villages of Newenden and Bodiam within five minutes’ drive (also within walking distance), you’ll have a wide selection of traditional village pubs to choose from, as well as pretty cool riverside cafés for sweet treats and live music. Plus, of course, there are food shops to build a trusty store of supplies.

Set sail directly from the boating station in Newenden (or self-launch if you’ve got the kit) and meander down the river Rother by canoe, kayak or paddleboard (if you’ve got the balance for it). From here, the opportunities seem endless – you could take a guided boat tour to Bodiam Castle and back or board the steam railway to chug your way around the region’s historic railway line.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

Guests under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

My husband, 2 dogs and I started for 2 nights at Stone Pit Meadows and had a very relaxing break. Only 3 tents on this site and a nice distance between all of them making you feel secluded and private. The tent itself was comfortably set up with all items you could need for a couple of days Glamping - cooking equipment as well as a complimentary bucket of fire lighters, kindling and logs.
The shower and toilet are very nice considering they are out doors! the shower runs a nicer temp than some hotels we have stated in and are very clean. They are also a nice distance from the tents so noise is kept to a minimum.

Stone Pit Meadow itself is a beautiful area, we sat in the evenings listening to the sound of crickets and wildlife, the dogs had an amazing time off the lead and free to wander, our older pooch also enjoyed swimming in the ponds! Plenty of fresh air wore us all out!!

Hostess was very friendly without being over bearing, happy to help and be available when needed. All in all this is a lovely place and I am in no doubt we will return.

Beautiful, peaceful location in a stunning wild flower meadow. It was a privilege to stay at Stone Pit Meadows. Nicola was the most accommodating host, doing our washing up, checking everything was ok and dropping off delicious hampers (that I would thoroughly recommend treating yourself to). Really clean facilities and great hot shower. We had a fantastic time! Loads to do locally including vineyard tours and renting paddleboards/kayaks from the local village. Nicola provided us with all the information we needed. Thanks so much for having us!

Very secluded spot which was well equipped. The tent came with everything we needed, and the toilet and shower facilities were good. Nicola, our host, was very friendly, there to meet us on arrival and was easily contactable. A fire pit and wood was provided, and a large cool box helped keep everything cold.
We visited Rye and Camber Sands, both were only 20-30 minutes away at the most.

    Disliked:

Nothing to complain about, only concern would be the path to the tents would likely be very difficult to access with a small car in the event of rain. It was a dry weekend for us so no problem but the route into the site could be improved for wet weather.

We absolutely loved our stay in Nicola's Anemone Bell Tent! I booked this as a last-minute getaway and Nicola instantly confirmed my booking with me, as well as offering advice on local places to eat and things to do. We decided to stay on site, and therefore can't comment on local things to do, but the setting of the tents are gorgeous enough themselves that you don't have to leave. I purchased two of the no-cook breakfast hampers, as well as the cheese hamper, both of which were delicious and worth purchasing. Every detail is thought of, Nicola has provided everything you could need for your stay and was very hospitable. We loved relaxing outside the tent, feeding the coots on the pond with the food provided as well as taking a little stroll in the vineyard - the night sky is phenomenal with no light pollution! The toilets and shower were clean too. Thank you, Nicola, for a fabulous stay, we would love to return and see you next year!

    Disliked:

Not a dislike, can't criticise anything as it was all perfect, but it would be nice if two deckchairs were provided to sit on as most people would come in pairs! It meant one of us had to sit on the log-seats or the floor on a picnic rug we brought, which was absolutely fine for the two days.
