Level grass pitch in the orchard
Grass pitch - the russets
Whole site surrounded by trees
Large pitches

  • Orchard pitches on a fruit farm and plant nursery in Kent countryside
  • A 10-minute drive to Sissinghurst Castle Garden and 25 to Leeds Castle
  • Fresh eggs on site; five minutes’ drive to a pub
It’s not every day you get to pitch up among fruit trees, so grab the chance to do just that at Frittenden Orchard, where off-grid grass pitches are scattered in orchards on a Kent farm near Staplehurst. For even more of a back-to-nature vibe, you can wander the 11-acre woodland wildlife haven around the camping fields, where you might get to see foxes, badgers and deer. The site owners are happy to suggest local walks and sightseeing ideas for you. Free-range eggs are available from their own hens (just think of the breakfast fry-ups…). As this is a simple campsite, there’s no electricity but you will have a wifi connection and ice-pack freezing to keep your food fresh and chilled, as well as charging facilities for your devices, so you can keep in touch with the outside world. You can barbecue meals on grills brought from home, and pick up locally sourced produce from the handy store in Frittenden (five minutes’ drive), but if you’d rather someone else did your cooking while you’re away from home, there’s also a smashing pub in the village serving yummy burgers and local beers.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Staying amongst the trees. Good toilet facilities.

Disliked Minor - Toilets got dirty quickly and ran out of loo paper.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review.
The toilets are cleaned/serviced four times per day Unfortunately some members of the general public are more messy than others. Thank you for informing me that the toilet paper had run out, so that I could rectify it straightaway..

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Was able to Choose our own pitch. we decided to set up our tent within the orchard which was perfect.
Nice and spaced out pitches so you didn’t feel too close to any other campers. (If your in a tent you are able to bring car to your pitch to pitch up but you will need to drop car back off at the barn parking or at entrance which we didn’t mind at all)

New shower and toilet blocks that were immaculate. Shower was powerful and hot. Access to a shared fridge and freezer for anything you want to keep cool.

Access to charging facilities / plug sockets to recharge any battery packs.

Clean washing up facilities.

Beautiful views!

Not a far walk to Bell & Jorrocks pub in Frittenden where they serve delicious pub food in the sunshine (seating available outside) ☀️

Sainsbury’s in Staplehurst less than a 10 min drive 🚙

Thanks again to Diane, will definitely book again!

Disliked Cannot fault this campsite at all! Extremely impressed and we booked it very last minute on a Wym. Will 100% be back!

Local attractions

Kent is known for its historic stately homes – but which to visit first? Leeds Castle (25 minutes’ drive) has a host of activities, from guided tours to jousting tournaments and raptor displays, to keep families entertained all day. There are rose gardens to wander in Sissinghurst Castle Garden (10 minutes), and at moated Scotney Castle (25 minutes) you can follow trails through landscaped parkland. There’s more active stuff to do too; kids with energy to burn can wear themselves out on zipwires or mountain-biking trails at Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest (20 minutes), or on the inflatable course at Bewl Water Aqua Park (25 minutes). Younger children can cuddle the cute creatures at Buttercups Sanctuary For Goats (20 minutes), and any rainy-day issues are taken care of by the indoor pool at The Weald Sports Centre (10 minutes). If you’ve treated the kids to their day out, you deserve some me-time too. How about heading into Royal Tunbridge Wells (40 minutes) to browse indie shops or lunch in the cosy bistros of The Pantiles? And if you fancy a night out, book tickets for shows at the Trinity or Assembly Hall theatres.
