General

  • Kent countryside site with a warm and friendly atmosphere
  • Dog-friendly
  • Immaculately-maintained amenities

'Top of the range', 'luxurious' and 'immaculate' are a few of the accolades heaped upon the amenities at adults-only Still Acres Touring and Camping Park by grateful guests: if an essential part of your hol is sparkling and modern essentials, you'll be well set up here.

But there's more. Partly because the owners of this warm and friendly family-run site in the midst of Kent know their stuff and partly because of the site's setting: Still Acres is just outside Wealden village, with easy access to Kent's beaches, castles and many historic houses – if you're happy to go a bit further you could even venture to la belle France.

The site is on 28 acres of scenic and flat grassland with two acres set aside for guests; dogs are most welcome too and have a fenced off area for off-lead frolics.

And as for the accoladed amenities? The shower block on site is centrally heated, with disabled toilets and powerful showers and hand dryers – and all is immaculately maintained by the Still Acres team.

Please note

This is an adults-only site. Children under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Everything. The owner is lovely and friendly, pitches are flat, shower block is fantastic (hot showers with no stupid buttons to keep pressing), plenty of hooks and a nice long stool to sit on and a squeegee scrapper to dry the floor. Site is lovely and quite with lovely starry skies at night. Dog field is fantastic, it's big and secure, it has fresh water, a dog bin and picnic benches. We were able to let our adopted lurcher off the lead for the first time, and there's fresh water and dog bins on the walk to the field. But most of all is the security it's fantastic I've never felt so safe and happy to leave the tent and go out for the day, and the key fob is an excellent addition.

Good size pitches, clean toilet and facility block, friendly staff who come out to meet you, very nice area and good dog areas.

    Disliked:

Its a fair way to any shops or pubs. poor internet on phones due to the area it is in.

From the manager...

Shops 2 miles away most people who go camping bring there food with them. Plenty of pubs around with good food and local beers yes you might have to drive 2/3 miles but you will find it hard now a day to find a pub within walking distance.
There is a mobile mast 500 yards from the site so it must be the provider you are with Orange,EE etc all work on 4G the only one we know that is bad is Vodafone

Overall very good; dislikes are relatively minor. 19/09/2018

Flat, level pitches without stony ground for awning tent pegs. Good size pitch with no overcrowding round the site and reasonable number of total units. Modern facilities block. Pleasant views across fields. Free from road traffic noise and most aircraft. No limit on coming in late.

    Disliked:

Gates slow to operate. More, larger signs needed to help find the site. Facilities block should be cleaned more often (large dead wasp on floor for several days). A third washing up bowl would be helpful. No facility for recycling glass. Frequent trains on fairly near railway line, though not too loud. Few good restaurants in vicinity.

From the manager...

The facilities block is cleaned every day by myself, perhaps after hoovering wasp another died who knows,I'm glad that a wasp on the floor is the only thing you could find wrong in the block!!.As for the gates these are a standard commercial opening and that is how they where set by the engineers when fitted.

Local attractions

Still Acres Touring and Camping Park is most niftily located in a central position to some of the most popular Kent attractions, gardens and beaches, so pack a picnic and set off for the day to see what you can see.

Castle fans (everyone should be a castle fan) have a few famed piles in the area to pick from: the Still Acres team reckons that Leeds Castle, with 500 acres of parkland and formal gardens, daily activities and free flying falconry displays, is one of the best days out in Kent.

You could/should also get along to Chiddingstone Castle, set in 35 acres of grounds including a lake, rose garden and woodland, and with the collections of Denys Eyre Bower who owned and lived at Chiddingstone between 1956 and 1977. Dover Castle, set above the famed white cliffs, and Tonbridge Castle, dating back to the eleventh century, are also popular castley Kent picks.

If it's old piles you're after, also see Georgian Belmont House and Gardens in Throwley, near Faversham, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Canterbury Cathedral, St Augustine's Abbey and St Martin's Church.

Must see
