  • Adults-only Kent countryside site with a friendly atmosphere
  • Dog-friendly site with fenced-off exercise area
  • Immaculately maintained heated amenities block
'Top of the range', 'luxurious' and 'immaculate' are a few of the accolades heaped upon the amenities at adults-only Still Acres Touring and Camping Park by grateful guests: if an essential part of your hol is sparkling and modern essentials, you'll be well set up here. But there's more. Partly because the owners of this warm and friendly family-run site in the midst of Kent know their stuff (including having a fully certified caravan repair and service technician on site to help out with problems) and partly because of the site's setting: Still Acres is just outside Wealden village, with easy access to Kent's beaches, castles and many historic houses – if you're happy to go a bit further you could even venture to la belle France (Dover is a little over an hour's drive away). The site is on 28 acres of scenic and flat grassland with two acres set aside for guests; dogs are most welcome too and have a two-acre fenced off area for off-lead frolics (with water to keep them cool and benches for their owners to have a rest on). You're very welcome to take walks (with or without a dog) around the rest of the site as well (dogs must be kept on leads and mess picked up). And as for the accoladed amenities? The shower block on site is centrally heated, with disabled toilets and powerful showers and hand dryers – and all is immaculately maintained by the Still Acres team.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Pitch was level and well draining. Bathrooms were immaculate and plenty of space in shower and toilet cubicles. The communal freezer was useful. We liked the fact that the site was small and everyone was friendly. There is a huge dog walking area as well as a fenced off field for off lead and lots of dog bins around. All in all a great place.

Disliked: Nothing

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Lovely spacious pitch. Excellent showers and loos. A really well thought out campsite. A very kind lady helped us when our van battery suddenly died.

Disliked: By far the worst welcome we’ve ever had on arriving at a campsite. No response to pressing the buzzer. Even tried emailing. Eventually the gate creaked open and we drove around trying to find someone. No sign of any one. It was like the Mary Celeste. Then a man appeared who looked like he thought we were going to rob him. He said ‘pitch 8’ and that was it. No apology, in fact no conversation at all. It was utterly bizarre. Thought we’d stepped into some sort of parallel universe. Such a shame.

Liked: Very clean site nice facilities and big pitches.

Disliked: The site itself is very quiet but airplanes form Gatwick and local railway line breaks the silence its a shame. Access for caravans is a bit tight down the country lanes to get to the site. No Wi-Fi

Local attractions

Still Acres Touring and Camping Park is most niftily located in a central position to some of the most popular Kent attractions, gardens and beaches, so pack a picnic and set off for the day to see what you can see. Castle fans (everyone should be a castle fan) have a few famed attractions in the area to pick from: the Still Acres team reckons that Leeds Castle, with 500 acres of parkland and formal gardens, daily activities and free flying falconry displays, is one of the best days out in Kent. You could/should also get along to Chiddingstone Castle, set in 35 acres of grounds including a lake, rose garden and woodland, and with the collections of Denys Eyre Bower who owned and lived at Chiddingstone between 1956 and 1977. Dover Castle, set above the famed white cliffs, and Tonbridge Castle, dating back to the eleventh century, are also popular castley Kent picks. More old buildings? See also Georgian Belmont House and Gardens in Throwley, near Faversham, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Canterbury Cathedral, St Augustine's Abbey and St Martin's Church.
