  • Scenic site surrounded by woodlands in the Kent Downs
  • A 10-minute drive from Maidstone and Leeds Castle
  • Next to Kent Showground; pet-friendly site with a dedicated pet shower

Electric grass pitch

Liked Very nice staff
The pitch was big enough, not from the power socket
Very green area

Disliked Since the showers and the toilets are in the same room, it gets too humid/wet most of the time.

Mostly good, but wardens need to police their own rules.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Nothing fancy. Nice clean showers, toilets and washing up facilities with plenty of piping hot water. Reliable WiFi (if you’re pitched close to reception) and reliable EHU. Very friendly and helpful reception staff and wardens. Decent (not exceptional) pub around 20 mins walk from the site.

Disliked Yet another site and only pays lip service to their own rules - very noisy group of campers talking/shouting loudly and playing music up to 3AM on Friday night with no intervention from the on site wardens. If you publish “quiet time” rules (they do) then they need to be politely policed.

From the manager: Thank you for taking time out of your day to leave s a review Chris. We are glad that you found us acceptable for some of your needs, we've never professed to be "fancy" and we are a touring caravan park, hotels are for "fancy".

Regarding the noise, had you brought this to the Wardens attention, it would have been dealt with. Even park wardens have to sleep sometimes.

We did allow you to come in late after our closing time and went to the trouble of sending you information and a map to your pitch to allow you to do this even though our closing times ate clearly stated on PitchUp.

We wish you happy travels. The Oak View Team.

Liked We only stayed very short, after a 9h trip from Schotland, and just before boarding the Ferry to France, but what we saw on this short stay was positive to say the least. Well organized, clean facilities, friendly and helpfull warden, and guests (also worth mentioning) and a cosy comfortable feeling during out short stay. Both recommondations and return on our behalf.

From the manager: Florian, thank you. Cosy, comfortable and friendly is the vibe we are going for so that is awesome 😊

We would love to see you should you ever come to the UK again. Safe travels. The Oak View Team. 😊

Electric grass pitch

Liked Really friendly staff, good location for the site as it is tucked away nicely so it is very peaceful. Toilet and shower block really nice! Has got washing machine if needed. We did get wifi password on arrival however we never used it so cannot comment on whether it was good or not

Disliked Nothing on site for kids to do, not even a little play park (something I should have looked into before booking)

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you Lauren! We are pleased that most things were good for you, but sorry that you wanted more for the children to do. A lot of our customers do use this as a base and go out for days and we don't object to bikes, ball games etc. We have a large area in the centre of the park for the children to play and we also have woods at the bottom of the park for them to explore.

Thank you for a kind review anyway. The Oak View Team. 😊

Electric grass pitch

Liked Such a lovely campsite. Very relaxed.
Lots of hot water.
Welcomed by two lovely lady’s.
Our pitch was in the shade. Which I felt was a shame as I love the sun. But the lady kindly moved us.
Children were allowed to play football etc which I feel is lovely. As not all campsites allow that. Nice to see kids being kids. All in all a lovely stay.
Even a shower to shower your dog

Disliked Obviously this was our choice to do this but We wasn’t keen on the walk down to the pub. As no paths leaving the site. Then you had to walk along the dual carriageway. It was very busy.
But it may be worth asking if there is another route. As the pub was nice. And done food. .

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you Donna!

You found so many things to like which makes us very happy. We did move you as you requested. When planning where to put our customers, I try my best to put those with children and pets in the shade while it is this hot, availability allowing. Sometimes I get it wrong but was more than happy to move you.

There are 2 routes down to the shop and pub and we have an information sheet for our customers with directions for both routes. May we suggest that our customers just pop up and find one of us and we are happy to give these out. The Oak View Team.😊

Local attractions

Oak View Holiday Park is in prime position to traverse the best of Kent's countryside, coast, castles and well-known gardens – with Essex and its coast easily accessible too just to the north. Plenty of pedalling and perambulating opportunities are around the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, such as the 153-mile route of the North Downs National Trail through from Farnham to Canterbury, passing the White Cliffs of Dover. This takes in the 119-mile Pilgrims' Way, the supposed route of Thomas Becket from Winchester to Canterbury Cathedral. Elsewhere in Kent, loads is on all year round in the 500 acres of parkland and formal gardens at lovely Leeds Castle (10 minutes’ drive), like free falconry displays, play areas, special events and making one's way intrepidly out of the castle maze. Also see Rochester Castle (20 minutes) on the east bank of the Medway for its 12th-century keep and stacks of historical info: the castle was sacked during the Peasants' Revolt, held for Henry III against the barons, and besieged (also because of barons) by bad King John. And of course, just next door is the Kent Showground, which hosts all sorts of events throughout the year (the most famed being the Kent County Show, which usually runs for three days in July).
