  • Simple dog-friendly site among apple orchards in the Kent countryside
  • On the Greensand Ridge, with easy access to footpaths and local pubs
  • Lively farm with businesses including a brewery and farm shop
Loddington Farm is a simple site set among apple orchards in Kent’s ‘Garden of England’. The farm already has a great reputation as a community hub for locals. Over the past 10 years, it has diversified by building a number of on-site businesses, including a farm shop, the Musket Brewery and taproom and a pick-your-own-flowers place named Blooming Green (which you will, of course, have splendid access to during their opening hours). The farm is on the Greensand Ridge, a greensand and sandstone escarpment with woodlands and other lovely scenery, so there are great footpaths in the local area. It’s also between the villages of Linton and Boughton Monchelsea, so traditional country pubs are within 20 to 25 minutes’ walk of the farm. The apple farm has been owned by the Smith family for over 140 years, but it’s only recently that they’ve decided to invite overnight guests onboard (after some years of pondering and planning). Hikers are very likely to appreciate that the Greensand Way, with views over the surrounding countryside, also runs by the farm. There are portable toilets and showers available, along with a washing-up area. You’ll probably be the most excited about visiting the brewery and tap room, which is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 4pm to 10pm. On Saturdays, it’s open from 12pm to 10pm and on Sundays, it’s open from 12pm to 6pm. The field is large, having been expanded in 2024 to create extra space away from the brewery and parking. Pick your own flowers at Blooming Green on Saturdays throughout the summer. The on-site farm shop is open on Monday through to Saturday between 9am and 5pm, giving you the perfect excuse for a barbecue.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The chilled/relaxed vibe of the place, just park up and choose a pitch, you're 100 yards from a brewery, cherry picking and a flower picking with a lovely farm shop and cafe at the top of the lane. Live music and a food truck on a Friday night was great.

Disliked: The situating of the actual camping could be further from the brewery car park, everyone who parks up is looking in on your camping, would be great to have a proper toilet and a washing up area but shower was fab. Only negative is that the large group next to us whilst lovely people did keep us awake until 2.30am shouting, laughing, slamming car boots etc so not a great nights sleep to say the least.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: The pub next door

Disliked: I hate leaving bad reviews, but here we go. I can handle basic camping but that needs to be reflected in the price. £35 is too much when you’re providing so little. We were so underwhelmed we didn’t even stay the night and went home.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Relaxed and communicative hosts; location (aesthetically and in proximity to nice places); fire friendly!

Disliked: None. A proper toilet would be an improvement on portaloos, but it is camping after all.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: A lovely little spot for camping, and close to some evening activity at the taproom next door. The shower was great, loads of hot water and a really good size for a campsite shower.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The Musket Brewery on site was the main attraction and the reason we chose the site.

Disliked: For the price the facilities are very poor. Don't get me wrong I have been happy on low grade campsites but I expect this to be reflected in the price. At Loddington there is no hot water anywhere. There are two chemical portaloos with hand sanitiser. The dish washing station is not plumbed into any water although there is a standpipe near by. The shower was an open fronted shed with a door for (partial) privacy. Anyone could easily look over the door whilst you shower. Other than for essential use of the toilets, no one on the campsite used any of the facilities. They were just useless. I think this is a start up campsite and I imagine they will develop the facilities with time but at the moment they are very below par for the charge.
