  • Well-maintained family glampsite near the village of Smarden in Kent
  • A 35-minute drive to Port Lympne Safari Park; Canterbury 50 minutes
  • Secure site with communal kitchens, five minutes’ drive from shops
A five-acre site set between the pretty Kent villages of Headcorn and Smarden, Go Glamp is a friendly, family-run sort of place that welcomes kids and dogs. It has a chilled vibe so relaxation is never going to be a problem – and your privacy is pretty much ensured, thanks to there being plenty of space around the camping fields. Communal facilities include a kitchen area for food prep and washing up, and refrigerators to keep your food (and drink, very important) chilled. Sparkling-clean toilets and spacious warm showers are found adjacent to the car park. Mobile phone charging points are available, but please warn any teens that internet access is limited. Barbecues and firepits are available for hire, and buckets of wood can be bought for a small charge. Pick up essentials from the convenience stores in Headcorn (five minutes’ drive), or you can ditch the car and walk to the pubs in Smarden (half an hour) if grilling up supper isn’t on the agenda. A trainline runs along the back of the site, bound to London and back, where guests can spy on the occasional Pullman and steam trains (trains run twice per hour and not between midnight and 6am). Guests can also often spot light aircraft displays, hot air balloons and parachutists and wing-walkers from the nearby aerodrome. For your extra safety, the glampsite is secured with automatically closing electric gates; an entry code will be given to you on arrival. If you have any queries or problems, do ask the owners, who live on-site.

What customers say

This is a family-friendly campsite with spacious pitches, praised for its friendly and accommodating owners. Guests enjoyed hearing lions roar from the nearby sanctuary and watching aircraft from Headcorn Aerodrome. Facilities, including toilets and showers, are consistently reported as clean and well-maintained. Some reviewers noted periodic noise from a nearby train line and road, though many found it not to be disruptive. A few guests mentioned the showers could be cold, though the manager stated they are set to a safe temperature and can be investigated if reported.

Electric optional grass tent or motorhome pitch

Bell tent (four person)

Liked Beautiful camp site with the most friendly and accommodating owners. We absolutely loved everything about this site from the super cosy and spacious bell tents, to the lions roaring in the morning and watching the sun rise as paragliders filled the sky. Alan and Kim went above and beyond though out our stay and the kids especially loved the departing tour on Alan's golf buggy!
The camp site itself is really clean with very well looked after amenities including hot showers and super clean toilets.
There is a very handy communal kitchen area which had everything you could think of and we were so grateful of the fridge space which is unheard of at most sites. Thank you again for a truly memorable camping experience.

Disliked Loved everything and couldn't fault it.

Electric optional grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Nice site
Near to Headcorn airfield and the Big Cat Sauntuary so was entertained with roars of lions and many small aircraft - wing walkers, parachutes, helicopters.
Owners lovely and welcoming. Checking often that we were all ok.

Disliked Near road so noisy sometimes.

Electric optional grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Alan and Kim were great hosts. We booked an electric tent pitch and when we arrived we found that our own electric hook wasn’t working and Alan was able to provide us with one of his own so we didn’t go without. Massive thank you for this!

The whole site was cleaned and maintained very well and the facilities were everything you could need!

With the location of the site, our daughter liked hearing the roar from the lions at the nearby Big Cat Sanctuary and looking at the sky watching the wing walkers and sky divers.

We will definitely be staying here again!

Electric optional grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Our 2nd visit to Go Glamp & we’ve found our new regular camping spot! 🏕️ We booked 2 nights & ended up staying 6 lol.
The field is huge, pitches are really spacious & the views are lovely. The facilities are brilliant, with clean toilets/showers, communal kitchen & seating &, an ice machine, coffee wagon and a huge enclosed dog-walking area. There are also taps dotted around the site which have been a lifesaver in this heat! 🥵
It’s so peaceful & relaxing & the owners are absolutely lovely — friendly & attentive without being intrusive.
Our favourite part has to be hearing the lions roaring from The Big Cat Sanctuary next door 🦁 It makes the whole experience feel so unique. There’s also a railway line nearby, which we actually loved hearing!
We honestly can’t recommend Go Glamp enough. Amazing views, huge pitches, fantastic facilities, lovely owners & such a peaceful atmosphere. See you soon guys❤️ (I have accidentally clicked a rating for Wi-Fi, there is none. You don’t need it anyway 😊)

Disliked Today - it’s our last day 😞 😂

Local attractions

If you want to get active on your glamping break, the whole family can have a runaround on treetop ropes at Go Ape Bedgebury, or go dinghy sailing and climb the inflatable courses at Bewel Water (both half an hour’s drive). Slow things down with nature rambles around the arboretum at Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest (35 minutes). Plenty to do with animals as the focus too: see silverback gorillas, big cats and African elephants in semi-wild enclosures at Howletts Wildlife Park (50 minutes), or take a jeep safari at Port Lympne Safari Park (35 minutes) to spy on rhinos and stately giraffes. If you have younger kids in tow, let them have a cuddle with the friendly inmates at Buttercups Sanctuary for Goats (20 minutes). Canterbury Cathedral (50 minutes) may be calling to history lovers, who can visit the scene of Thomas Beckett’s murder in 1170, before having an amble around the city centre’s half-timbered streets to the porcelain collections in ornate Beaney House of Art and Knowledge. The medieval cathedral and Norman-era castle in Rochester (40 minutes) are both open to tour, or you can do a spot of window shopping on the historic high street.
