General

  • Family-friendly park with indoor and outdoor pools and a Jacuzzi
  • Soft play room, adventure playground and lots of summer activities
  • Varied programme of evening entertainment including outdoor cinema

Along with the white cliffs, the kaleidoscopic vista of golden sands, turquoise seas and forest green hills at this family-friendly site will leave you tickled pink.

At Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park there’s a roomy outdoor swimming pool, as well as an indoor version with Jacuzzi, toddler pool and water flume. Diminutive campers can have fun exploring the soft play room, adventure playgrounds, mini golf and diverse activities laid on in summertime (metal detecting on the beach, exploding volcano experiments, flying remote-controlled helicopters…)

The evenings ring in some good quality family times too. No jazz hands here: the cabaret includes top artists from the West End belting out rock anthems and the like, and in the summer months, there are atmospheric outdoor film screenings on the lawns looking out over the bay.

All bookings include free entertainment passes for the use of the site facilities including the indoor and outdoor pools and the Culver Club for evening entertainment. Another nice touch is the new 'Magic Lounge About' programme of events in high season: guests can burrow into a beanbag with a beer from the bar, and enjoy talks and demonstrations from local businesses on everything from ice cream to llamas…

There was a mix-up with our booking through Pitch-up and with the bad weather they weren't expecting us and had no pitches. However Kevin and Alison were so kind they made a pitch for us on a hard standing area, Rachael in guest services was also very helpful.
The site has some great facilities and beautiful coastline. Despite COVID and the bad weather we really enjoyed our week.
Touring site shower facilities very clean and warm.

    Disliked:

On our last morning we thought we'd have breakfast at the restaurant. We set off in the sun, it is quite a walk and by the time we got to the restaurant the touring site the rain was coming down again. We had no protection from the rain but at the restaurant the manager wouldn't let us eat without our cardboard passes, which I had left in our motorhome. I suggested we just call guest services to confirm we were staying at the touring site but he wouldn't let us and we were forced to walk back in the rain getting soaked.
It soured the end of an otherwise fun stay and I would suggest the higher management think how that reflects on the customers experience.

Directions

From Ryde (Isle of Wight)
Take the A3055 towards Sandown. Go through Brading and turn left at the Yarbridge Cross traffic lights heading towards Bembridge. It's a bendy road so take your time. After 2 miles or so you will pass the Propeller Inn on your left, take the next right. We are about 1 minute on your right-hand side.

Local attractions

One of the attractions of the Isle of Wight is that so much is crammed into a relatively small area, and guests can easily get to all the major sights simply by jumping on a bus outside the park.

Budding zoologists are spoiled for choice: as well as the Owl and Monkey Haven, there are tigers and big cats at the Isle of Wight Zoo, alpacas, penguins and meerkats at the Seaview Wildlife Encounter, and over 200 species on view at the Amazon World Zoo Park.

There’s also a donkey sanctuary at Carisbrooke Castle, where visitors can see where King Charles I was banged up (instead of bawling, he went bowling, and you can still play on the very same green). Historical types should also check out Osbourne House, the seaside palace where Queen Vicky, Bertie and brood used to come to top up their tans.

If the sun is shining, the obvious choice is Sandown beach, for sandpies and swimming, followed by dodgems on the pier, or a visit to the animated dinosaurs at Dinosaur Isle. It’s also worth taking a boat trip to see the iconic chalk stacks and lighthouse at the Needles, or going loco on the Havenstreet Steam Railway.

For oohs, aahs and eeks, Blackgang Chine has loads of exciting and eccentric rides and exhibits crammed into 40 acres of Victorian gardens, and there’s a toboggan run, 3D maze and more rollercoasters at its sister theme park Robin Hill.
