General

  • Family-friendly park with indoor and outdoor pools and a Jacuzzi
  • Soft play room, adventure playground and lots of summer activities
  • Varied programme of evening entertainment including outdoor cinema

Along with the white cliffs, the kaleidoscopic vista of golden sands, turquoise seas and forest green hills at this family-friendly site will leave you tickled pink.

At Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park there’s a roomy outdoor swimming pool, as well as an indoor version with Jacuzzi, toddler pool and water flume. Diminutive campers can have fun exploring the soft play room, adventure playgrounds, mini golf and diverse activities laid on in summertime (metal detecting on the beach, exploding volcano experiments, flying remote-controlled helicopters...)

The evenings ring in some good quality family fun too. No jazz hands here: the cabaret includes top artists from the West End belting out rock anthems and the like; and in the summer months, there are atmospheric outdoor film screenings on the lawns looking out over the bay.

All bookings include free entertainment passes for the use of the site facilities including the indoor and outdoor pools and the Culver Club for evening entertainment. Another nice touch is the new 'Magic Lounge About' programme of events in high season: guests can burrow into a beanbag with a beer from the bar, and enjoy talks and demonstrations from local businesses on everything from ice cream to llamas...

Fantastic campsite in a tranquil setting which is a short drive to several attractions. All of the facilities were kept to a good standard of cleanliness. Plenty for the kids to do with outdoor and indoor pools and good evening entertainment. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed their stay.

    Disliked:

The pressure in the showers in the amenity block was quite low.

Staff were very friendly. And you can see that they are trying to improve the site.

    Disliked:

Tent pitches were very uneven on rocky ground. The camp facilities were ok. Not as good as advertised. The on site camp shop closed at 5, the laundrette at the same time and there was no one on either reception after 6. There was a number to call but for such large campsite you think the desk would have been manned a bit later. Was a little disappointed about how far away all the facilities were from the touring site. I hadn't realised that it was a completely different site from the main camp. There was a freezer provided for ice blocks on the touring site. We were told to write our names on them and just to use or own. By the end of our weeks visit we had 5 taken and not returned. I understand that this isn't the fault of the site but if they provide a service like this I might be better to monitor it as other camp sites do. There was an open air cinema advertised in the evening. Which we were looking forward to. On the website it was made to seem that weather allowing it was on every evening. However in the seven nights we were there it wasn't on at all. In the shower block there were notes on every stall asking for the showers to be mopped out by each person after use. A really good idea if the mops hadn't been filthy or the buckets filled with water and disinfectant. But when cleaning the shower after yourself they were left covered with dirt and smelling. Our stay was fine and we had a lovely visit to the island but the website did it's job well and advertised this campsite in such a way that I felt I had got such a great deal but on reflection if I had paid anymore for our pitch I would be very annoyed.

The weather!! Hot hot hot. The site was really well kept with a well stocked shop. We were allowed to pick our own spot within a certain area and got a nice one on the end of the row. Lovely area but would need transport to explore other areas. A wonderful beach a short walk away with lovely swimming and lot's of stunning walking straight from the campsite. Weather helped with this stay as everywhere looked truly stunning. Didn't have kids with us but facilities for them looked really good. Really good free wifi

    Disliked:

A little road noise. This campsite is split into two halves, Shame there is no camping in the half near the beach.

Directions

From Ryde (Isle of Wight)
Take the A3055 towards Sandown. Go through Brading and turn left at the Yarbridge Cross traffic lights heading towards Bembridge. It's a bendy road so take your time. After 2 miles or so you will pass the Propeller Inn on your left, take the next right. We are about 1 minute on your right-hand side.

Local attractions

One of the attractions of the Isle of Wight is that so much is crammed into a relatively small area, and guests can easily get to all the major sights simply by jumping on a bus outside the park.

Budding zoologists are spoiled for choice: as well as the Owl and Monkey Haven, there are tigers and big cats at the Isle of Wight Zoo, alpacas, penguins and meerkats at the Seaview Wildlife Encounter, and over 200 species on view at the Amazon World Zoo Park.

There’s also a donkey sanctuary at Carisbrooke Castle, where visitors can see where King Charles I was banged up (instead of bawling, he went bowling, and you can still play on the very same green).

Historical types should also check out Osbourne House, the seaside palace where Queen Vicky, Bertie and brood used to come to top up their tans, or take a tour of the mosaics and Roman jewellery on display at Brading Roman Villa.

If the sun is shining, the obvious choice is Sandown beach, for sandpies and swimming, followed by dodgems on the pier, or a visit to the animated dinosaurs at Dinosaur Isle. It’s also worth taking a boat trip to see the iconic chalk stacks and lighthouse at the Needles, or going loco on the Havenstreet Steam Railway.

For oohs, aahs and eeks, Blackgang Chine has loads of exciting and eccentric rides and exhibits crammed into 40 acres of Victorian gardens, and there’s a toboggan run, 3D maze and more rollercoasters at its sister theme park, Robin Hill.

If it’s raining, Dad could be dispatched to Ryde to take the kids ice-skating or bowling, while Mum pays a visit to the jewellery collection at Isle of Wight Pearl (and maybe comes home with a piece made from the contents of an oyster personally plucked from the 'Pick a Pearl' pool...).

Must see

  • Dinosaur Isle (2.3 miles)
  • Isle of Wight Steam Railway (5.6 miles)
  • Royal Marines Museum (7.9 miles)

National Trust

  • Bembridge Windmill (0.7 miles)
  • Brighstone Shop and Museum (13.3 miles)

All caravan and camping guests are requested that when setting up, a three-metre gap is maintained between your own caravan/motor home or tent accommodation and your neighbours’ accommodation. Jumbo tents/motor homes may not fit on one pitch (approximately 10m by 10m) when allowing for any awning and the mandatory minimum 3 metre fire break between units. In this event, guests must book an additional pitch. If after arrival it is found that the combined dimensions of the tent/motorhome/fire break exceed the pitch area, guests will be charged for an additional pitch and may be asked to re-site. Guests with caravans/motorhomes are not permitted to erect tents on the same pitch but may erect one awning. Camping guests may erect one tent per pitch. Please note that trailer tents are regarded by us as tents.

Anyone not adhering to this will be asked to move. Electric hook-ups are rated at 16-amps/3680 watts 230v supply. Please do not exceed this limit.

For some facilities and entertainment venues, wheelchair access may be limited.

Dogs are not allowed inside any facility buildings, restaurants, food serving areas and swimming pool areas. These restrictions are not applicable to guide dogs.

Please note that guests must be over one metre tall to use our swimming pool flume. Children under eight years old must be accompanied by an adult in the water of the swimming pool.

It is possible that in some circumstances accommodation, entertainment or a facility may have to be temporarily withdrawn, due to maintenance, renovation, adverse weather conditions, changes in governmental legislation, or any other factor outside our control. We reserve the right to make such alterations in the above circumstances without prior notice.

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your holiday, firstly please speak to our Park Reception. However, if you are still dissatisfied, you must see the General Manager and record your complaint. If, at the end of your holiday, you feel that we have not dealt with your complaint satisfactorily, please write to the General Manager at Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park no later than 28 days after the end of your holiday. We are only able to take action on any complaints that are first brought to the attention of the General Manager during your holiday.
