  • Simple grass pitches on the edge of the New Forest National Park
  • A mile and a half from Lepe beach and 15 minutes' drive to Beaulieu
  • Campfires allowed: firepits for hire and wood for sale on site
Campfires, countryside scenery and keeping an eye out for passing wildlife – it's all about the simple things at Lepe Meadows Campsite. This site is on the edge of the New Forest National Park, a mile from the Hampshire coast at Lepe beach, so it’s in prime position for a break packed with such activities. The focus is on the simple things at the site, too – there’s a back to basics vibe here, with facilities limited just to showers, toilets and a washing-up area along with firepit hire and wood sales. If you’re planning a campfire or barbecue, pick up supplies from local farmers’ markets or the shop five minutes’ drive away. Pitches themselves are mostly on flat grass, with the site team on hand at most times if you need any help or advice during your stay. That might include tips on how to spend your days in these splendid surroundings – locals generally know best when it comes to finding good places to eat, top beaches, excellent walking trails and activities like swimming, canoeing and sailing. For practical matters, the village of Blackfield is about a mile away for express supermarkets, cashpoints, a petrol station, takeaways, a chemist and a local pub.

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked: Lepe Meadows is a really friendly site. There is lots of flat space to pitch. The site was quiet at night and friendly in the evenings. A perfect combination. We had the stone baked pizzas on the Saturday evening they were tasty and ready on time. Short drive to the beach and lots to do in the area!

Disliked: There was lots to like about the site but there were a few things that we didn’t like. Only set times in the morning and evenings to shower and wash up. We ended up boiling water not the end of the world but not the most convenient. Not being able to freeze your own ice packs. No lights in the toilet cubicles at night - this wasn’t a problem for us but families with young children were struggling a bit with this. The toilets were a bit smelly at the end of the weekend. This may be because it was the end of the season for this site.

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked: Nice location. Pretty field and close to Lepe beach.

Disliked: Facilities very basic. Hot water for washing up and showers only available during certain hours. Lights in the loo blocks but only by the sinks, not the toilets. On the last evening the gas bottle serving half the showers and ⅔ of the washing up sinks ran out and we were told it wouldn't be replaced as it was the last night.

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked: Very welcoming staff. Plenty of space. Clean showers and toilets. Washing up facilities. Well organised site with flat pitches. Great for a base for days out. Regular checks for late night noise. Fire pits available.

Disliked: No sockets for phone charging, electrical equipment or hair dryers. Water limited so washing up or showering is limited.

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked: Large size pitches, pick your own pitch, huge large field, clean toilets and showers, washing up station, drinking water all round the fields, perfect for families, on site shop with alsorts to buy which was a god send ( cash and card ), breakfast in the morning SUPER yummy! Woodfired pizza on Wednesday evening which we all enjoyed and was absolutely delicious, on arrival the lady who checked me in was soo lovely and polite she explained the rules etc with such knowledge which was great!! The lady and gentlemen who were running it while we were there were ABSOLUTELY amazing and they really made our stay sooo much more comfortable! Nothing was too much neither too little and they were so amazingly polite and you felt like a friend rather than a customer and that service is beyond amazing and it’s made me and my family wanna return just because of these wonderful people !! We enjoyed it that much we went to ask about staying an extra night and they were so happy to accommodate us! Even with taking 2 hours to pack down we never once felt rushed !! Amazing service all round !! Thank you guys!!!

Disliked: Toilets a little walk from field but that’s part of the experience ( want the toilet next to you pitch closer ) Bring hard ground pegs as the ground is typical new forest mud and contains rocks.
