  • Dog-friendly site in the grounds of an Edwardian country manor house
  • In the New Forest National Park, 15 minutes’ drive from beaches
  • Farm shops, pubs, cafés and train station within walking distance
You’ll be all set for a royally relaxing stay at Camping at the Manor in the New Forest National Park. Here, you’ll be dwelling in the grounds of an Edwardian country manor house where there are often wild deer to be seen roaming the grounds and occasionally the mad owner on his lawnmower ensuring that the pitches stay nicely trimmed. You’ll have plenty of space to make into your little hidey-hole, as the pitches are spread between three large fields, surrounded by mature trees and planting for extra privacy. They’re level-grounded too, so it shouldn’t be too tricky to set up your tent and you’ll have access to a composting toilet, a shower and a washing-up area. There’s a real treat in store when it comes to the world of food around this area, as New Milton (five minutes’ drive) lives up to its description as a market town. As well as regular shops, there are farm shops for local goodies and pubs, restaurants and cafés. Closer by, Ashley (35 minutes’ walk) has a small shop too. Of course, there are all the popular pubs and eateries around Sway, Milford on Sea, Hordle and New Forest too – many within a short drive of the site. Just let the site know if they can arrange any bookings on your behalf. Those of you planning on leaving the car behind won’t need to miss out, as local buses will take you to Bournemouth or Lymington and the train station in New Milton is just 40 minutes’ walk away.

What customers say

This is a friendly, well-run campsite with spacious, flat pitches. Owners are consistently praised for being welcoming and helpful. Facilities, including eco-friendly compost toilets and hot showers, are generally clean and well-maintained. On-site food options like pizzas and bacon rolls are popular. Located conveniently for the New Forest and coast, the site offers a relaxed atmosphere with a communal fire pit area. Some minor drawbacks include a lack of direct dog walking routes from the site and occasional queues for facilities during peak times.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely place. Very friendly and helpful owners. The shop/bar/cafe was great. Compost toilets really organised and clean. Big pitches.

Disliked Probs would have liked cubicle doors on showers rather than just curtains!

Would be nice to know if there were any local walks rather than just along road. Didn't ask tbf. But a big laminated map would be good

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked An absolutely fabulous place to pitch up. HUGE pitches (especially if like me you were solo camping), welcoming hosts, fabulous eco credentials (the nicest compostable loos and converted showers I’ve seen), and pizzas/bacon rolls that perfectly hit the spot. Thoroughly recommend as a base to explore the coast or the forest. I hope to be back!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The overall experience was perfect ! We showed up a little later and they made sure that our group of 3 were still together. While we were pitching the Host came over to chat and introduce himself, he’s a great laugh 😂. The facility’s were a little different being a composting toilet and showers built in an old horse trailer but both incredibly clean and very functional and actually added to the experience ! Unfortunately we had to leave a day early due to a change in the weather but we will 100% be returning ! Thank you for having us 😁

Liked Extremely friendly welcome upon arrival and all throughout our stay. A very precise site induction ensured everyone (even the kids) were aware of the do’s and don’ts which was important considering the recent local forest fires.
A small but very sociable fire pit/cafe/reception area which was well used, with the owners joining in.
All facilities were immaculately clean and well stocked at all times.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Absolutely amazing place. We booked last minute for 2 nights because we wanted to visit the New Forest area. After arriving 2 bright smiles greeted us. A Perfect, Eco-Friendly Camping Gem! You can immediately tell that the hosts truly understand the essence of camping. The campsite itself is small, incredibly cozy, spotlessly clean, and the owners are super friendly.
What we loved most is that the campsite is eco-focused. This is a huge added value and, honestly, exactly what camping should be all about: connecting with and respecting nature. If you are looking for a genuine, welcoming, and relaxing getaway, this is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Local attractions

Beach day, anyone? There are plenty of options for your daily dose of sand and sea. Milford on Sea beach (10 minutes’ drive) has very easy access in the high season. You might want to practise your bodyboarding at Highcliffe beach (15 minutes), paddle at Mudeford beach (15 minutes) or indulge in watersports at Avon beach (15 minutes). Other places for a dip (or a snooze and some sandcastle building if you’re feeling like a lazier day) are Sandbanks beach (45 minutes) and Boscombe beach (half an hour). Bournemouth (35 minutes) has plenty of seaside entertainment too, as well as an aquarium with a penguin enclosure. As for the quirky stuff, the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum (five minutes) has a collection of restored motorcycles, including factory racers and exotic prototypes. Arty types might want to visit the Forest Arts Centre (five minutes) too. Put some peaceful walks in your plans too… there’s plenty to explore around the 24-acre Steamer Point Nature Reserve (15 minutes). It’s close to Highcliffe Castle (15 minutes), a grand Grade I-listed mansion that will add in some history.
