  • Dog-friendly site in the grounds of an Edwardian country manor house
  • In the New Forest National Park, 15 minutes’ drive from beaches
  • Farm shops, pubs, cafés and train station within walking distance
You’ll be all set for a royally relaxing stay at Camping at the Manor in the New Forest National Park. Here, you’ll be dwelling in the grounds of an Edwardian country manor house where there are often wild deer to be seen roaming the grounds and occasionally the mad owner on his lawnmower ensuring that the pitches stay nicely trimmed. You’ll have plenty of space to make into your little hidey-hole, as the pitches are spread between three large fields, surrounded by mature trees and planting for extra privacy. They’re level-grounded too, so it shouldn’t be too tricky to set up your tent and you’ll have access to a composting toilet, a shower and a washing-up area. There’s a real treat in store when it comes to the world of food around this area, as New Milton (five minutes’ drive) lives up to its description as a market town. As well as regular shops, there are farm shops for local goodies and pubs, restaurants and cafés. Closer by, Ashley (35 minutes’ walk) has a small shop too. Of course, there are all the popular pubs and eateries around Sway, Milford on Sea, Hordle and New Forest too – many within a short drive of the site. Just let the site know if they can arrange any bookings on your behalf. Those of you planning on leaving the car behind won’t need to miss out, as local buses will take you to Bournemouth or Lymington and the train station in New Milton is just 40 minutes’ walk away.

What customers say

This family-run campsite is praised for its spacious, flat pitches and quiet, friendly atmosphere. Guests consistently highlight the welcoming and helpful staff, the cleanliness of the facilities including compost toilets and hot showers, and the convenience of on-site food options like pizzas and bacon rolls. The location is considered good for exploring the New Forest and nearby coast. While some found certain facilities, like shower cubicles or washing up areas, to be small or lacking hot water, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many visitors eager to return.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Brilliant pitches lovely staff and great location. Had toilets and showers. Washing up stations. Recycling stations. Very generous sized pitches with space to spread out. Will note that the toilets are composting ones and can’t lie the smell was pretty bad by the end of the day. It wasn’t due to lack of cleanliness just the nature of the toilets. We also had a fire pit which was great fun with the kids you do have to buy the wood from the camp site. We had our BBQ which you need to bring your own coal for as they don’t sell any. Also brought our dogs with us and it was plenty dog friendly but the dogs had to be on lead all the time. Very quiet over night no issues with noise at all.

Disliked There is little to no shade available so bear that in mind. The toilet smell was intense when using them.

From the manager: Hi Katie

Thank for coming to stay with us and your review.
Couple of comments for everyone in general.

Dogs on leads are a policy throughout most responsible campsites.
Access for all demand dogs on leads for those who don't have animals but wish to stay in the same facilities. Irresponsible campsites allow anything goes approach just to please the few who spoil for the many so yes dogs are very very welcome but on leads as noone wants their sausages stolen or tent watered for territory.
As for our eco loos, unfortunately despite a master class for every arriving camper any loo is as good as the last competitor.
While tossing the cup full of its wood chippings and plant cutting is fun if your aiming to balance it on the last concerto movement ,the idea is you retain the cup thus allowing a covering of your best deposit. If you simply loose the cup down the hatch with contents still inside it doesn't do much.
We will be more informative with our arrivals and possibly take on the airplane way of doing things and demonstrate the 4 easy steps.
1, loo seat up
2. Do your thing
3. Throw only cup of bio material down retains cup.
4. Loo seat down.

Oh and for some of the men out their who were chuffed at loo seat down , wash your hands.
Not taken though and remember they are super clean and saving 1000's of gallons of wasted water.

Safe travels and see you again 🙏

Liked Nothing I’m sorry to say

Disliked On arrival there was no signage on where to go, no one around to ask. We continued on the driveway and opened a gate. After driving through the gate there looked to be 3 or 4 abandoned vans along the edge of the drive. As we continued we can to a field with long grass and after spotting the electric hookup we guessed it was the field for us to stay the night. We were the only ones there. It took us a while to adjust to our surroundings.
Once we had got over the shock of where we were we walked back down the drive to find a toilet. There were a couple of out buildings but all locked. We continued back towards the house that had mess sprawled over the outside which I believe had work going on inside but no one was around.
We found a toilet, a dirty, cobwebbed filled toilet, which I can only assume was used for the people working on the farm.
It was a horrible night and we couldn’t wait to leave first thing in the morning.
We weren’t expecting much, as the campsite was described as only being a field but clearly we weren’t expected and was the only toilet we found really the toilet for us to use?? It was cleaner to go in the field.
Maybe it’s completely different in the summer months, but we won’t be returning.

From the manager: Oh bless, you stayed at the farm 200 yards down the road.
It's not for me to laugh but if you can see the funny side.
We are fully manned 24hrs a day with huge 6ft sign in the entrance.
We dont have electric hook up and the house is not the one with scafford on.
We also have 5 toilets in front of reception next to the 6 showers.
The reception is a shop open from 8am until 10pm. The Friday you stayed at the closed farm we had about 200 people here.

Im so sorry for your experience but please look at the funny side.
5 years ago a lady actually arrived late at that farm and set up tent in their garden only to.be asked to leave in the morning as they are not a campsite anymore.

Beach day, anyone? There are plenty of options for your daily dose of sand and sea. Milford on Sea beach (10 minutes’ drive) has very easy access in the high season. You might want to practise your bodyboarding at Highcliffe beach (15 minutes), paddle at Mudeford beach (15 minutes) or indulge in watersports at Avon beach (15 minutes). Other places for a dip (or a snooze and some sandcastle building if you’re feeling like a lazier day) are Sandbanks beach (45 minutes) and Boscombe beach (half an hour). Bournemouth (35 minutes) has plenty of seaside entertainment too, as well as an aquarium with a penguin enclosure. As for the quirky stuff, the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum (five minutes) has a collection of restored motorcycles, including factory racers and exotic prototypes. Arty types might want to visit the Forest Arts Centre (five minutes) too. Put some peaceful walks in your plans too… there’s plenty to explore around the 24-acre Steamer Point Nature Reserve (15 minutes). It’s close to Highcliffe Castle (15 minutes), a grand Grade I-listed mansion that will add in some history.
