We've just come back from a lovely stay at Victoria ... 19/08/2018

We've just come back from a lovely stay at Victoria Park, my children had a brilliant time here, the park is lovely with a cafe and shop, and lots of playgrounds. The tents are clean and spacious, with comfy beds and a wood burning stove whicg we used for cooking and to heat the tent when we woke up early a bit chilly. I can't wait to come back here next year, there is so much to see and do.

    Disliked:

The only slight complaint is that the tiolets and showers could be cleaner, as I believe these are managed by the park and not the campsite themsleves. There was a large group of caravans next door that were all using the same facilties so several times there was no loo roll left.

Slightly disorganisation at first with regards to where we was going and a mix up with tent numbers, quickly sorted out. Plus we had no male facilities at all the first night, but we made do.

The tent was clean as were the toilets and showers.

    Disliked:

The tents were pitched too close together so we could hear our neighbours when they were in their tent. Unfortunately we had to endure "Let it Go" (Frozen) on repeat for what felt like a very long time! The tent decking had a hole in it which I tripped up on and one of the planks of wood on the decking was split. There was no shade whatsoever (we had requested some as I was travelling with my dog) and it was very very hot on the weekend of our visit.

The bell tent was lovely, very cosy and had everything ... 12/04/2018

The bell tent was lovely, very cosy and had everything we needed. Weather wasn't on our side unfortunately and it rained very hard the first day and night. In the summer it would be great to sit outside on the picnic table and use the fire pit to cook food though.

Very clean facilities in the toilets and shower block, in fact when I went there at 7am somebody had clearly already cleaned sinks and mopped the floor. There were also plenty of logs.

Quite a muddy field due to the recent heavy rain. The first night we parked next to our tent but the next night we opted to park in the lane as the entrance looked like we might have got stuck!! Owner available by text when there was a tent full of loud people the first night until mad o'clock, I can't really complain about that though as it's not their fault some people have no consideration!

We had a really nice stay and I would definitely recommend this place to other people. The second night it was lovely and peaceful and toasty warm with the fire going.

Wonderful experience. We enjoyed every moment of it, including rain and windy weather.
DS is 6 year old. Wish there was a kettle to fill out hot water bottles as it got really cold in the night since it took a long time to fire the log stove.
But, overall, excellent place, will visit again.

Local attractions

You can start your stay by exploring the spectacular ruins of the late-medieval Netley Abbey, half an hour’s walk from Bell Tent Glamping, but if you’re up for a little driving there’s much more than that to see in the surrounding areas.

Had your appetite for historical buildings and stately piles whetted by Netley Abbey? Make your way to Mottisfont and Hinton Ampner (40 minutes’ drive from the site) to poke around the stunning houses and gardens, or let the vaulted ceilings of Winchester Cathedral (30 minutes away) awe you into silence.

The site is within easy reach of Southampton and Portsmouth but, for something different, a trip out to the Isle of Wight is highly recommended. There are plenty of scenic cliffside trails and sandy beaches, but for absolute must-sees you want to head to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s Osborne House, Alum Bay and Culver Down.

There’s tons nearby for kids too: bring them to explore the forest canopy at Go Ape!, visit Paultons Park for Peppa Pig World and adrenaline-spiking rides, or get up close to the exotic animals at Marwell Zoo, all within half an hour of Bell Tent Glamping.

Must see

  • Southampton Maritime Museum (3.5 miles)
  • Beaulieu National Motor Museum (5.9 miles)
  • Osborne House (8.5 miles)

National Trust

  • Newtown Old Town Hall (11.0 miles)
  • Winchester City Mill (13.4 miles)
