Lovely cafe and staff in the…
Non-electric grass campervan pitch
Liked Lovely cafe and staff in the cafe.
Pretty village and close to the motorway.
Perhaps on a Friday or Saturday night when the bar is open it might have a different feel.
Disliked We were booked to stay on a Monday night. Arrived at lunchtime - No one available to speak to.
Far from the description “There’s a real buzz about this lively place”… Just an empty football field next to a cricket workshop (where they didn’t know much about it). ‘People sometimes park in that field to stay I think’. Definitely not a farm campsite.
No bar / taproom open, no farm trucks. Only toilets seemed to be the ones in the cafe (that closed at 4pm).
No reply to my email the day before asking what food was available and if the bar would be open.
Couldn’t get a refund as would have to had cancelled a week in advance but didn’t know it would be that bad… also no-one there to ask.
Got bitten badly by bugs in the 10 minutes we were there. Decided not to stay.

From the manager: Dear Emily,
Thank you for taking the time to review our farm and I'm pleased you enjoyed the cafe and staff.
I'm not sure if you have checked your spam or junk folder but we acknowledged your booking on 15th June 2026 and sent arrival details and a map of the site, which would have shown the location of the newly refurbished toilet and washing facilities in the main courtyard. There are four brand new toilets of which one is a disabled access toilet and has space for baby changing facilities plus washing up in the main block. In addition there are two fully plumbed in mobile toilets by the small front field side entrance gate, with signage in the main courtyard.
The arrival details also had a covering email which gave contact details for the owners should you have needed to ask questions on your arrival. This covering email accompanied the site map and arrival details.
We also responded to your follow up email asking about food trucks. You sent this on 21st June at 18:43 and we responded that evening at 22:30 explaining no food trucks on the days you are visiting but offering the owner and farm manager details to open the brewery for you to purchase some ales if you would like to have a look around.
As you will have seen we use the front field yearly for events and activities and whilst not being used the field is opened up to Pitchup customers as a stop over location, which most of our customers love as the views are lovely and the walks and village around us are beautiful.
I'm sorry you felt the location was not lively enough and assure you that we did respond and sent comprehensive details and responded to you follow up query. The joining instructions sent on the 15th June do clearly state the amenities on site and timings for Brewery and food trucks. Fridays and Saturday evenings the brewery, courtyard and barn are open and have visiting food trucks and invariably live music/ dj or an event or festival. We are also open Sunday lunchtimes now 12-4pm.
We are sorry we did not match expectations on this occasion but assure you that you were sent all you would have needed to know in advance of your stay and feel concerned with your review.
Kind regards

We wanted a site not too…
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked We wanted a site not too far from home so we could try out out new tent and just incase our grandson didn't like his first camping trip which he absolutely loved and asked when are we coming again. When we arrived we followed the instructions sent to us and thought we were in the wrong place as we were the only ones there for the first night. The site is flat and from arrival to departure we walked around bare foot except for when we walked around the farm. The cafe is superb and definitely worth a visit and everyone is so friendly and even found out how cricket bats are made !!. The toilets are spotless. We had to hunt around for the water tap which was fun and we found it at the back of the cafe by the swings. Would I book again well that's a definite yes I would as I couldn't find fault with anything except it's ashame there is no shower block but for a couple of nights who cares.
Disliked Nothing to dislike tbh

Couldn’t see any office or check in area so I didn’t bother. Toilets were okay one of the sinks has a big chunk missing out of it.

Lovely simple camp site with a fantastic cafe
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked This is a nice simple quiet site with plenty of space for camping. We had no issues finding it and getting set up. Communication was great and we were given a map with the site and facilities details. We tried out the honest cafe for breakfast and it was amazing! The bathroom and sink facilities were clean although the sink in one toilet was cracked and could do with replacing and they don’t have any shower facilities. Had these been available we could stay for more than a couple of nights another time. My kids enjoyed watching the cricket shop and factory staff making cricket bats and we did buy some for the boys as they have shown and interest in learning to play in the past. That was quite the hidden gem. I think it would be nice to visit on a weekend when the brewery is open but I suspect it might be a little more rowdy then. Instead we had a few chats with the locals and a few cyclists and enjoyed our stay despite the typical English weather.
Disliked I think the sink in one of the toilets needs sorting as kids could hurt themselves if they aren’t sensible. But I’m sure it will be sorted fairly quickly as everything else was clean and well maintained if they can fix the weather for next time that would be great too!

From the manager: Thank you for your review.
We send our Pitchup guests details of our seasonal (May to August) pop up site in advance along with maps and location of loos etc, unless it's a last minute booking and we missed your booking before you arrived. Guests don't need to check in as we are aware of bookings and add to the calendar.
What might work is for us to add some PitchUp guest details in the loos and at the field notice board that may help for arrivals. Thank you for the feedback.

It’s a football pitch for a campsite with a toilet to find
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked a lady returned my call within the hour when I needed to confirm if I was at the right place and whether I needed to ‘check in’
It was quiet at night
Disliked There was one toilet with no handwashing facility. The toilet block as acknowledged by lady from the farm who called - was in need of refurbishment.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to review our site.
Sadly, the door to our scruffy paint splashed loo, which is used for the farm workers, had come off recently. As it's next to our two farm loos it looked like it was part of the available toilets when busy. We are sorry it did not have hand washing facilities inside and we check why there was no soap in the sink outside the loo.
As mentioned the toilet block is due an overhaul in the winter so will be wonderful next year so hopefully we will see you again.
