General

  • Lively Hampshire family farm site with easy access from M3 and A303
  • A 20-minute drive to Winchester and Watercress Line railway
  • Café, farm shop and brewery taproom with weekend food trucks

Fancy a farm stay, but not so keen on the idea of a long drive along country lanes? Get yourselves along to Dummer Down Farm, in a handy Hampshire location that’s easily accessed from the M3 and A303 (thereby also making it a good place to consider for a stopover on a longer journey…)

There’s a real buzz about this lively place, which is just outside the pretty village of Dummer and within 20 minutes’ drive of Winchester and Basingstoke. It’s not just a campsite at this family farm – there’s also a farm shop, a café (with a terrace looking out over the fields) and a brewery, where you can finish your day off with a pint of fresh local beer in the taproom next door or pick up something to eat from one of the local food trucks that park here at weekends.

If you’d rather do the self-catering thing, stop by at the market garden to see what sort of fresh organic veg they’ve got for sale that day. A convenience store is about a mile and a half away for any other bits you need to go with your dinner.

Working up an appetite for these meals and drinks should be easy, as there’s some great walking and cycling to be done directly from the farm as well as plenty of places to have a day out (including wanders around Winchester, animal encounters at Marwell Zoo and grownup trips to see wine and gin in production).

Facilities in the field include toilets, a washing-up area, drinking water taps and a chemical disposal point. Dogs are welcome to join you for a stay here.

Booked as an overnight stop whilst in the area. Everything you could ask for. Plus the bonus of having a fab Cafe, staff very friendly and great coffee. Tap room with reasonably priced beer… wish we could have sampled more but driving early in the morning. Would definitely visit again!

Everything about this site was perfect for us. It is a simple field set up around a football pitch on a working farm which was perfect for the children. There are few facilities but that wasn't a problem for us. On the same site there was a fantastic cafe where we had breakfast and a farm shop, this was separate to the camp site so don't expect to get essential camping supplies from here. There is a better shop a short drive away (you could walk to it). The campsite manager was very helpful.

It's a back to basics sort of camp site, no play areas just nature's playground and we loved it.

The microbrewery on site looked popular although we didn't get a chance to try it out.

Wonderful sit, there's a really nice brewery with local beers and ciders, with a live band on in the evening - advise to take your camping chairs with you though because it gets full! It's a real taste of the country with the comfort of beer, food and a little shop on site!
There are football goals up in the field, and table tennis by the brewery entrance. Good for entertainment!
Cafe for breakfast in the morning wa lovely!

The owners couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly. I was greeted straight away by a lovely lady who gave me all the information I needed and then the owners checked a couple of times that everything was ok. It’s a simple and quiet site. No showers but clean toilets and washbasin. Although it’s on a working farm there is a community vibe about the place. There’s a market garden, a great cafe and shop and I think a tap room open at the weekends with bands on. Really easy to access.
