  • Lively Hampshire family farm site with easy access from M3 and A303
  • A 20-minute drive to Winchester and Watercress Line railway
  • Café, farm shop and brewery taproom with weekend food trucks
Fancy a farm stay, but not so keen on the idea of a long drive along country lanes? Get yourselves along to Dummer Down Farm, in a handy Hampshire location that’s easily accessed from the M3 and A303 (thereby also making it a good place to consider for a stopover on a longer journey…) There’s a real buzz about this lively place, which is just outside the pretty village of Dummer and within 20 minutes’ drive of Winchester and Basingstoke. It’s not just a campsite at this family farm – there’s also a farm shop, a café (with a terrace looking out over the fields) and a brewery, where you can finish your day off with a pint of fresh local beer in the taproom next door or pick up something to eat from one of the local food trucks that park here at weekends. If you’d rather do the self-catering thing, stop by at the market garden to see what sort of fresh organic veg they’ve got for sale that day. A convenience store is about a mile and a half away for any other bits you need to go with your dinner. Working up an appetite for these meals and drinks should be easy, as there’s some great walking and cycling to be done directly from the farm as well as plenty of places to have a day out (including wanders around Winchester, animal encounters at Marwell Zoo and grownup trips to see wine and gin in production). Facilities in the field include toilets, a washing-up area, drinking water taps and a chemical disposal point. Dogs are welcome to join you for a stay here.

What customers say

This is a simple, peaceful campsite located on a working farm, praised for its open fields and flexibility in pitching. The on-site cafe, shop, and brewery are highlights, offering good food, drinks, and often live music. While basic amenities are noted, including limited toilet facilities without showers, visitors appreciate the friendly atmosphere, beautiful rural setting, and convenient access. Occasional noise from events can be a factor, particularly on weekends.

Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked Our third visit to Dummer Down Farm and was not disappointed. This time we bought a group of friends from our VW club. A great site, in a perfect location. Newly landscaped courtyard is wonderful.

Rumours have it that you hope to improve the facilities for campers which would be absolutely awesome. Fingers 🤞🏻 x

Disliked No complaints from us at all!

Liked Breakfast was terrific

Disliked Restroom, campsite in general

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to review our site.

We're glad you enjoyed the cafe, which is onsite and the breakfast.

The portaloos, if these were used, were temporarily placed in the camping field because we had a food festival running the week before and were awaiting servicing and collection from the suppliers. In hindsight we maybe should have locked them and directed campers to the courtyard loos and kitchen area which is designated for campers. If these were used they are functional but dated and it was wet that weekend so mud does get trodden in. We are planning a long overdue refurb in due course.

Regarding festivals. Generally we avoid opening the camping field when a major event is on as we appreciate not everyone is keen on the noise that comes with festivals of any scale.

I noticed you booked for July and can only envisage the booking was when we had what was originally planned as a folk festival at the brewery and courtyard. This scaled back and non festival event started playing after 4pm in the barn with four or five local folk bands and finished around 10pm. The brewery is open every Friday and Saturday evening from March until December and most of our guests love the live music and travelling food trucks especially with the new courtyard garden.

We realise this isn't to everyone's taste and can only apologise we weren't quite what you were looking for.

Kind regards

Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked Nothing.

Disliked No contact from organisers. No pre warning there was a festival happening. No signage to say where the site is or the camping field. No answer on number provided. Staff in surrounding businesses didn’t have a clue about the camp site. Porta loo were disgusting and smelt awful. Found a random sink and toilet on the business site which were also filthy and smelly. A full week before the event I was calling site to cancel the second booking I had but no response. Exceptionally disappointed. This could be a fantastic site if managed better.

From the manager: Dear Chloe, Thank you for taking the time to review our site. We are sorry that you felt let down by communication and facilities. We've checked back to make sure we had acknowledged your booking and can confirm that you were sent a site map and instructions along with arrival details of facilities, the cafe and brewery opening times on 28th April at 15:35.

Saturday was originally intended as a festival starting at 2pm but was scaled back to just four folk singers/bands playing acoustically from 4pm until 10pm in the barn, which now forms part of our offering with our new courtyard, which most people really love. The farm was opened up for camping as many interested music lovers wanted to stay the night.

As it had been raining I can only imagine the farm toilets, which are on the site map sent to you, were not up to scratch and this is something we will address and sincerely apologise for. We have plans to build a separate toilet and shower block in due course.

Dummer Down Farm is a family run site and with young children in tow sometimes we just can't get to the phone in time and again we apologise for this.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The campsite was relatively quiet and conveniently located nr m3, but also quiet and secluded enough. There is a nice cafe on site which does great cakes. Some football goals, which was great with the boys. We also happened to go when a folk event was taking place, so enjoyed some live music and a freshly made pizza from a van.

Disliked No shower block.
