  • Adults-only lakeside glamping location at the back of a working farm
  • A 35-minute drive to Cambridge; 25 minutes to the IWM Duxford museum
  • Well-stocked fishing lake and firepits; country pub a short walk away
Soak in the lake views, relax and unwind… the adults-only glamping site at Serenity Lakes has some seriously stunning scenery, a well-stocked fishing lake and more than just a smidgen of luxury. With modern interiors, spectacular handmade firepits on personal patios and a sauna cabin and woodfired hut tub nearby (which are available for bookings at an added cost), you’ll be relaxing in style and comfort. Serenity Lakes is based behind a working farm and an equestrian centre in the Cambridgeshire countryside… as you might expect from such a rural place, there are a fair few country pubs around for tasty chow and beverages (including one pub in Helions Bumpstead under 20 minutes’ walk away), as well as quiet surroundings in which to relax and recharge. While this is a scenic and secluded retreat in the English countryside, with hammocks around the lake by the way, a taste of the city life isn’t too far off. Cambridge is 35 minutes’ drive away from the site, where there are punting activities, museums and more opportunities for sightseeing. Otherwise, Haverhill, 10 minutes’ drive away, has shops and other handy facilities close by. Back at base, the glamping options have an elegant, modern finish and a venue on a calm lake that was built in 2017. A spacious living area, luxurious kingsize bed, comfy seating area, well-appointed kitchen and bathroom with a large shower are all at your disposal.

Shepherd's hut

Liked: Lovely peaceful place to stay, we will be returning for another visit. The hut was cosy and had everything, from pots and pans, to towels and hand cream, even pods for the coffee machine and chocolates in the fridge. The lake was beautiful and we quickly made friends with Swannie and Clide. Highly recommend!

Disliked: That we couldn’t stay longer.

Local attractions

While the countryside has many opportunities for activities of its own (biking and hiking perhaps?), you’ll find one particular activity in Cambridge only: punting on the river Cam, a peaceful way to while away an afternoon moving down or upstream. This cathedral city is also packed with an assortment of museums, such as the iconic arts and antiques at The Fitzwilliam Museum (35 minutes' drive). There are more sights for the arty types at Kettle’s Yard (35 minutes) or you might want to take yourself a good tour of all the historical buildings and landmarks, like King’s College Chapel (35 minutes), the Cambridge University Botanic Garden (35 minutes) or just outside of Cambridge, Wandlebury Country Park (20 minutes), which has stunning picnicking grounds and an Iron Age hillfort. With the IWM Duxford (25 minutes) war museum and Audley End House and Gardens (25 minutes) also within driving distance, there are many pages of history you could explore – at the latter, have a go on the mansion’s piano, see where the servants used to live or peek inside the stable and meet the horses.
