  • Pop-up site on a livestock farm near Elsenham in Essex
  • Five minutes’ drive to Stansted Airport’ Daisy May’s Farm and golf
  • Dog-friendly and off-grid grass pitches with showers available
Generous camping facilities include large woodland pitches overlooking the sheep paddocks, private parking close to the tents, drinking water, a chemical toilet and ice-pack freezing – but please note there’s no electric hook-up. It’s a breeze to get here from London or Cambridge, what with the direct train services to the stations at Stansted. Once here, if you can prise the kids away from the animals, there’s crazy golf (five minutes’ drive) and a leisure centre with a pool (15 minutes) as well as museums, gardens and zoos in less than an hour for family day trips. Dogs are allowed on leads at the campsite and in the paddocks only, not the play areas or animal fields.

Non-electric grass and earth pitch

Liked: Ik was helemaal niet blij!

Disliked: Camping heel moeilijk te vinden. Hij had een andere naam. Het was een kinder boerderij. Alles vies en veel te duur oor wat we hebben gekregen. Echt niet normaal.

Non-electric grass and earth pitch

Liked: Full of charm, relaxed, splendid animals. Good value

Disliked: toilets and showers basic and a bit muddy, solar lights not always working. Not a major problem and not a surprise given terrible weather

From the manager: Adam, Thanks for taking the time to write us a review and I’m sorry that the site and I’m sorry that our site wasn’t for you. I think that it’s mostly aimed at families with young children and as the £25 pitch fee includes free entry for upto 6 people, which means that your camping pitch is actually free! I would agree that our facilities are basic and it’s certainly not the Ritz but we do have 3 flushing toilets (a huge upgrade from last years portaloos, which weren’t very popular!) but they are not dirty. I think “muddy” would have been a better description. Our toilets and shower (hot gas shower) get checked very regularly by staff floating around on site and your comment makes people think that they are over spilling and stained with faeces. This is certainly not the case but you will find mud on the floor when the weather is damp, as we are on a working farm 😀

Non-electric grass and earth pitch

Liked: LOVED THE FARM!!!! What a great idea it turned out to be to beat the train strikes to the airport 🤩

Disliked: Wasn't quite sure of; 1) where to go. The entrance is through the farm which had no obvious signs to suggest walking through to get to campsite. 2) if we could set up a BBQ. We waited until someone else did there's and then thought is was cool 😎 3) if there was any first aid. I bring my own kit but it would be good if needs must. 4) earplugs could be upsold to campers as not everyone is a fan of planes taking off

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and we are very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. Every booking is sent a text message (as we know not everybody checks their email) 24 hours before they arrive, with arrival instructions. This also includes full information of anything else you may need to know for during your stay. I have checked that you received our message and it definitely delivered to the correct number, as you contacted us on it at arrival from that phone. First aid points are signposted on the farm: firstly at the camping toilet block and again at our main reception. Full details of BBQs again is included in the arrival message. Kind Regards Conical Hill Campground

Non-electric grass and earth pitch

Liked: There was alot of space to set up tents and to explore. Because there was enough space between pitches you did not have to worry about any noise complaints.

Non-electric grass and earth pitch

Liked: Lovely setting overlooking pony and sheep paddocks. Some nice little shaded spots to choose from and because it is a pop up site, it isn't mobbed. There are a couple of portaloos and a basic shower so a no frills site. We stayed in a motorhome so easily managed without the frills! The pitch fee also included entry to the Daisy Mays petting farm which was a bonus and great for the grand kids. The post code took us to a nearby golf course and AA autoroute took us to a nearby factory complex. All you have to do is head straight to Daisy Mays petting farm and the drive all the way through to the camping area at the end. Not suitable for long caravans or especially long /high motorhomes. There is a chicane of trees with overhanging branches on the way up the track.
