What customers say
This eco-friendly campsite offers spacious, private pitches with fire pits and benches, set in a peaceful, natural environment by the Thames. Guests praise the hot showers, clean facilities, and convenient location with nearby walks and amenities. While some noted occasional noise from other campers and issues with composting toilet maintenance, the site is generally well-regarded for its simplicity, sustainability ethos, and excellent value. Management is responsive to issues.

Great few days feel fully relaxed.
Non-electric grass and gravel touring pitch
Liked Simple, quiet and no frills just how we like it. Loved the fire pit and that it had a bench. Dog liked it - nice walks.
Disliked We found it hard to see on the camp info how pitches were allocated. It’s just first come first serve as far as I can tell. Maybe that can be clear either in the info or the text message u receive before you come.

Quite pitch with the sound of birds, Great views along the sea wall.
Non-electric grass and gravel touring pitch
Liked Nice quite place with good walks, each pitch has its own wooden bench seat and fire pit.
Compost toilets might not be to everyone's liking but were clean and tidy and even with the hot temperatures did not smell.

We’ve visited this campsite before and…
Bell tent
Liked We’ve visited this campsite before and it was a favourite of ours until this visit.
It’s a nice camp site, you get your own section of cut grass to set up your tent, 4 double toilet blocks (unplumbed but that’s normal) close to the Thames and a lovely walk along the river, nice sunny field. Lovely family vibe when everyone’s being considerate. I recommend the tent/grass pitches but unfortunately not the bell tents.
Disliked Unfortunately we wouldn’t stay at this campsite again, I hate to leave a poor review but I can’t be dishonest about our stay as we spent £220 to stay in the bell tent for the weekend and regretted it from the first evening.
There seems to be some regulars that stay/live at the camp site next to the bell tents, (the other pitches have a bit more distance between but the bell tents are pretty much on top of eachother) a woman in a caravan and a man in a van, and they’re not ideal neighbours to have when camping, as most go camping to get peace a quiet - which we didn’t get most the weekend. They were friendly enough and seemed like nice people but unfortunately as the evening progressed they got pretty drunk on the first night and decided to have a very loud debate until 1:30am!! about the Israel and Gaza war, Brexit, illegal immigrants etc and were shouting as we were trying to sleep, as mentioned they are very close to our bell tent but we hoped it was a one off!
Next day they had a friend and her kids over for the night until about 11:30pm when they drove off, this afternoon/evening is where we lost patience, as the toddler of the friend was screaming most the afternoon and evening, running through our pitch, over our blankets and picnic, he was also running into everyone else’s pitches in the area, stealing their children’s toys, multiple times, I could see everyone else at other pitches was becoming annoyed as he didn’t seem to be getting parented by the adults and only the two other children were sent to retrieve him, but he’d scream every time he was brought back until he could run off again, he was running unaccompanied through the car park, showers, people pitches and even attempted to enter people’s tents.
We ended up letting the kids borrow our ball to attempt to distract them, which then got kicked into a ditch of stinging nettles and left for us to retrieve. 🙄 not to mention our neighbour in the caravan had a Pomeranian that barked non stop, even at midnight, throughout the day.
Our neighbours in the bell tent next to us who arrived on the Saturday were visibly getting frustrated as the child kept running into their child’s toys, taking them, attempting to get in their paddling pool etc and when they asked the mother of the child to return the toy she said ‘I will in a bit’ and didn’t return it for an hour as apparently that would ‘upset her child if she tried to take it’.
We decided to go into our tent early in the hopes that they would take the hint and go to sleep also, or atleast stop being so loud, and as we were settling down we hear the new couple in the bell tent next to us pack up all their stuff and leave! They didn’t even stay one night! The couple with their children in the grass pitch opposite us stayed out staring at the caravan group hoping to quiet them down to no avail. Everyone within a 40 metre radius was visibly frustrated and the next day most made comments as we walked past about the day befores antics.
We ended up leaving a day early as it wasn’t the relaxing break we wanted.
The owners/workers don’t seem to be around often otherwise potentially this could’ve been spotted and stopped.
As mentioned I don’t like leaving a poor review but £220 for 3 nights is not cheap! And I wouldn’t want anyone else to experience the weekend we did - and also didn’t want Thames View Camping to lose customers!

Spacious pitches, each with picnic bench…
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Spacious pitches, each with picnic bench and fire bowl. On this, my second visit, we thoroughly enjoyed sitting round a fire on this quiet campsite, listening to and watching the birds. Other campers were considerate of the noise and movement rules. Proximity to two ports was not a problem, but worth bringing earplugs just in case of night-time noise. Easy access to the coast path and Coalhouse Fort.

Pitches were spacious., toilets were clean…
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Pitches were spacious., toilets were clean and well managed. Beautiful nature, birds, ducks, bees there. Would have been better if there's a play ground for kids. Our kids enjoyed. Fellow campers were friendly too.
Disliked Nothing really.

Great location, spacious pitches; clean but smelly compost toilets
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Here’s a polished version that keeps your tone but flows a bit more smoothly:
We loved the location of this site. We stayed for two nights and made the most of the beautiful surrounding nature and nearby historic sites. There’s plenty of space between pitches, so you’re not on top of other campers, which we really appreciated.
We didn’t need any assistance during our stay, but it was reassuring to see staff around during the day, along with a contact number if needed.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.
Disliked The only downside for us was the compost toilets. We completely appreciate the eco-friendly approach, but we would have personally preferred flushing toilets. That said, they were clean whenever we used them, just a little on the smelly side.
