Woodland bell tent

General

  • Secluded glamping site in a private paddock three miles from Battle
  • A 15-minute drive from Hastings; half an hour from Camber Sands
  • Kitchen, barbecue, logs and fresh eggs supplied; pony rides on site

Swallows Oast Glamping is a secluded East Sussex glamping site on the famed 1066 Route, three miles from the little town of Battle.

Stays here are in a bell tent set in its own peaceful paddock with private shower, toilet and a well-equipped kitchen (with a gas stove, running water, tea, coffee, plates, glasses and the like). There’s no electricity in the tent but guests are welcome to use the fridge in the farm’s barn to store food and drink.

Beds are made up ready for your arrival, and you’ll also be supplied with a barbecue, charcoal and a bag of logs to make sure there’s a warm evening ahead. Fresh eggs from the farm’s free-range chickens are also supplied, and guests can buy more eggs, logs and coal from the farm during their stay too.

First steps for getting out and about into the surrounding countryside should be taken in the forest next door to the site: there’s direct access so you can simply wander in whenever you feel like it. The farm also offers pony rides for kids (for an extra charge) to get them going on the farm experience.

Looking a little further afield, this site is well placed for visits to the historic sites around Hastings and Battle (where the Battle of Hastings actually took place…), for outdoorsy activities at Bewl Water and Bedgebury National Pinetum, and for trips to the coast around Rye and Camber Sands.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

At least one of the party members must be aged 14 or over.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).
