Wimbles Farm offers riverside camping set deep in the Sussex countryside. Our site has two camping areas, each with their own fire pit.

Why not try a unique private camping experience with friends or family in a quiet, secluded flower meadow beside the river or lake? We offer camping for people who want to experience the great outdoors by themselves and who maybe secretly want to do a little Ray Mears-ing about.

We provide fresh drinking water, a compost toilet, solar shower, seasonal organic produce from the farm, a wheelbarrow to move equipment, a barbecue grid to go over the fire pit. Sustainably coppiced wood for your fire can be purchased, to make a perfect evening under the stars.

This unusual camping experience is perfect for those who want to be well away from busy camp sites and enjoy the peace of the countryside.

Guests can get fishing instruction from the site owner at £10 per hour for a group of three people, including tuition and hire of equipment. This can be booked on arrival. The normal fishing charges are £20 per person per day from 10am till 4pm including a maximum of 3 pegs. Your fishing equipment must be sterilised otherwise you will need to hire it from us. Our lake is naturally stocked with carp, bream, perch, pike, tench, rudd and roach, and no licence to fish is required.

Terms and conditions

Please read the park terms and conditions below and the Pitchup.com terms and conditions.

We are a car-free campsite. However, if the fields are dry we will allow cars on site to unload but then they must go to the designated parking area. In wet conditions wheelbarrows are available to help you unload and must be returned to the car park immediately after use.

All children must be accompanied at all times by an adult.

Well-behaved and quiet dogs are allowed on site but must be kept on leads at all times. All mess must be cleaned and put into the compost bin, without plastic bags.

Open fires may only be lit in the fire pit provided. No other camp fires are allowed.

This is a rubbish-free site, so if it won't compost or burn, take it home with you.

No foraging for any wood allowed or use of fire pit without arrangement.

Quiet hours between 9.30pm and 7.30am.

No stereos/radios to be used on site.

Bring your own first-aid kit.

Areas including the barns, sheds, lake and pond, gardens and surrounding fields are strictly prohibited - we are a working farm. Parents should ensure children are properly supervised at all times and not allowed to stray from the camping field or allowed near any farm machinery or animals. Anyone found disregarding this will be asked to leave immediately without a refund.

Do not leave valuable items in your tent or car. Cars are parked at owners’ risk.

River water is not potable and can carry harmful bacteria. Paddling in bare feet is not advised as sharp glass can occasionally wash down.

Do not camp within 10m of fire pit or other tents.

Bring a torch or two and maybe some wellington boots as the early dew can be wet!
