  • Small family-run site with Ribble Valley views in Lancashire
  • A 20-minute drive to Gisburn Forest bike paths, Pendle Hill and Settle
  • Dog-friendly site with dedicated exercise area; pub 15 minutes’ walk
Keen to have a look at Lancashire and a sneaky peek into Yorkshire? Lurk for a while at Calder Farm for a peaceful break with views to Pendle Hill in the spectacular Ribble Valley. This is a scenic pitstop for exploring the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (10 minutes’ drive) or hopping counties into the Yorkshire Dales National Park (20 minutes). Sparkling clean facilities on this family-run site include a heated toilet block with disabled access to the showers and washing-up area. Barbecues are permitted (but not open campfires please), and you’ll need to bring your own firepit, although you can buy wood on site and picnic tables are provided on the tree-sheltered field. Stock up on barbecue supplies in the supermarkets of Clitheroe (15 minutes’ drive), and if you’re just not that into cooking on your Lancashire camping break, there’s a gastro-pub and microbrewery in the pretty village of Bolton by Bowland (15 minutes’ walk). Your family dogs are welcome to join you on the many footpaths direct from the site, and there’s also a dedicated dog-exercise area in a fenced field – the owners do ask, however, that dogs remain on a lead while around the site. And talking of animals, you’ll soon be firm friends with the horses and ponies grazing neighbouring fields.

What customers say

This peaceful campsite in a beautiful rural location offers spacious, well-maintained pitches with stunning views, particularly of Pendle Hill. Visitors frequently praise the cleanliness of the facilities, including toilets and showers, and the friendly, accommodating owners. Its proximity to picturesque villages and pubs is a significant draw. While most experiences are highly positive, a few guests noted that the limited number of showers and toilets could lead to congestion during peak times.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Beautiful spot, amazing views and extremely peaceful. Lovely village 10 mins away with a nice pub and beer garden. Was lovely and quiet when we stayed (Sunday into Monday), but others had said it was extremely busy over the weekend, with every pitch full.

Disliked Not a dislike as such, but there are only 2 toilets and 2 showers in both the male/female wash rooms. It was fine for us as it was quiet but could imagine it being a bit busy with the site full. Only 2 pot wash sinks too could cause a queue when busy.

Toilets and showers were satisfactory, but needed a bit of a top up clean and probably a bit of a refresh in decor.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Lovely position, great views all round, especially towards Pendle Hill. Easy to walk to the village. Liked being able to pick our own site from what was available

Disliked Only 2 toilets and 2 showers - could be congested if site was full - fortunately was only about a third full when we were there.
